I'm definitely not buying any cases that swap out colors lmao I almost threw the case away trying to get these small little rubber sides and swapping the power button was a pain. The stand feels a little flimsy TBH but feels better standing vertical. The case also has two magnetic strips on the back which you can attach the case to anything. Maybe you're into selfies or vlogs at the gym LOL

Nice solid choices although now rocking and rolling with the Elite MagBak case on my end
I swap mine out for a quadlock when I'm on the (push) bike, and I'd probably stick to that if wireless charging worked with it lol. almost tempted to pay £90 or so for the quadlock charger, but it's a bit steep.

Talking of which, how do people find the pixel 10 charge on normal wireless chargers? Mine doesn't charge at all on the wireless charger built into my GF's VW Tiguan. The infotainment display displays an error, even caseless

I can charge it on my wireless in my BMW but I prefer to use the cord from USB C port when I have it on the car mount.

Been using an ancient Samsung J3 with Android 9 for quite a few years. But only in the past few months did I first experience being unable to install an app, Play Store saying it won't work on that phone.

My carrier has been offering a deal on the base Pixel 10 in Obsidian so I finally went ahead and placed an order for one, including a clear case (itskins) and 20W charger (ventev). The items arrived yesterday but didn't get around to activation until this morning.

Not too much in getting used to the somewhat different UI, especially after copying everything I could from the J3 to the P10. Obviously still within the return window at this early stage, but I think I'll hang on to it. Also, I might have questions later if issues arise, but for now it seems to be fine (hope I didn't just jinx myself!).

As far as the J3 goes, could be useful as emergency backup but that's about it.

That's quite the jump in phones lol

I still have my Fold 5 but I don't use it much anymore. Yesterday I discovered that YouTube looks much better on my Samsung than my Pixel. Brighter, more vivid, etc. The screen on my Pixel gets much brighter, especially outdoors than my Samsung but something is different with YouTube.

Samsung has a video boost setting which you probably have it set on

For those who own the Pro model, specially the XL, what are the advantages over the iPhone 17 PM?

For me it would be:

- AI features.
- 16GB RAM.
- Way cheaper.
- Brighter screen.

How does the camera compare between the two?

Interesting list of advantages. The only advantage I care about is Android itself. I need that customization. If Apple had a choice of launchers, icon packs, and animation speed tuning, I wouldn't have much reason to stay on Pixel.

I own the smaller 10 Pro and 17 Pro, but most of the specs are the same as the big boys, so here are my thoughts:

AI:

Gemini is great on Pixel. Gemini is great on iPhone. Apple announced today that more Gemini smarts are coming to Siri and other parts of Apple Intelligence as well, so this could be a moot point by autumn.

However, there's more to AI than Gemini: voice typing with Gboard on Pixel is much better than any other phone I've tried. Now Playing is automatic and better than Shazam on iOS. Circle to Search on Android works so much smoother than the highlight screenshot thing Apple did. And the Pixel phone app has a lot of cool features which Apple has started to copy, but they still are better on Pixel.

On the other hand, Daily Hub disappeared from Pixel and hasn't come back. Magic Cue still doesn't really do much of anything. The big AI tools that Google advertised for this phone still haven't delivered. The AI on Pixel is cool, but it still falls short in some areas.

RAM:

iPhone 17PM is still going to outperform Tensor G5 even though the iPhone has 12 GB RAM. What are you needing a lot of RAM for? I have read that Pixel reserves 3.5 GB RAM at all times to keep their AI models loaded, so a OnePlus 15 might be the better choice for RAM-heavy needs. All that said, my Pixel loads everything quick and feels faster than my iPhone because I set all the animation speeds to half.

Price:

Is the Pixel cheaper? Both phones are $1199 MSRP. Granted, the Pixel goes on sale all the time. But carriers are also giving away iPhones like crazy, so your mileage may vary.

Screen:

I can't speak to the screen. I never noticed the Pixel being brighter. But I turn the brightness way down on most screens. I kind of want to try that Nxtpaper 70 Pro with the paper-like screen. I have gotten to the age where I wear +1.0 reading glasses all the time even though I have 20/20 vision because I need that constant blue light filter in my life.

Camera:

I am not a camera snob. Both cameras are perfectly cromulent. I think my iPhone photos are more vivid/punchy. But my Pixel takes photos that are more realistic, if a little flat. I have a small issue with Pixel macro photography of text, which sometimes makes it hard to read due to AI processing. Very different results, but both are very good. Just takes time to adjust to the changes.

Other small things:
  • I like Pixel's haptics better.
  • The iPhone 17PM is going to get better battery life.
  • Android 16 feels much more consistent and thoughtfully designed than iOS 26.
  • F-Droid and ReVanced. If you know, you know.

Yeah, sometimes I forget that the new big AI features announced by Google for the 10 series are missing (Daily Hub) or somewhat lackluster (Magic Cue). They knock it out of the park with Gemini and Circle to Search, so hopefully they can improve those other features that aren't still fully useful or functional.

Regarding RAM, I guess more is better for background tasks and having many Chrome tabs open. I see iPhones reloading frequently in this area, even the new ones.

Brighter screen is a plus in my book, since I live in a very sunny place.

Google is also doing a good job with those Pixel Drop updates.

The iPhone 17 PM feels better with battery, camera, processor, ecosystem (if you own other Apple devices), app ecosystem (many apps work with live updates or Dynamic Island) and resale value, IMO.

If I had to choose a big phone, it would be one of these two. Samsung is out of the equation just in this case, just because I'd like timely updates. Pixel 10 Pro XL, when in sale in my country, is 500€ cheaper than 17 PM. That's a lot.

January update is out. Mine glitched though, it said preparing system update, glitched, then said there wasn't an update, but the system and updates page in settings said there was. Really CBA to reset it, might just wait to see if the next patch will fix it lol.

Edit

I ended up installing the OTA via ADB and it was easier than I thought it would be, but as a cybersecurity uni student I am technically minded, so please don't blame me if it goes wrong for you. It installed quicker than doing it over the air as normal.
