Ok but that was nearly 20 years ago
Things have moved on since then software wise for a start in some instances android is more innovative than iOS now

I'm happy to admit iOS copies Android sometimes. So long as it's admitted the overall touchscreen paradigm as we know it today came about due to Apple.

To think, we almost got a phone in an iPod rather than an iPod in a phone - the touchscreen was only one concept they were playing with.

Something I *am* curious about is whether Steve really believed web apps were the future. Some say it was just a diversion until the app store was up and running, others say he had to be convinced on proprietary apps.

That's cute. They have liberally done the same for years.

There's nothing wrong with copying features and making them better to compete with others, and vice versa. This results in improved products for everyone regardless on the platform they use.

Not at all. Android phones have been leading the way for ages now and then Apple copies.

We are no longer in the Steve Jobs era.

It didn't came from Apple, it came from Steve Jobs. Without Steve Jobs and Ive, there would have been no iPhone.

Nowadays, Android phones are the ones that are innovative and we have to wait many years and big $$$$ to get the features Android phones had for ages.

My understanding is he did want web apps on the iPhone and did actually have to be convinced if you listen to interviews from people involved as now there is a lot of
Rose tinted glasses on regarding events from nearly two decades ago as there always is in these cases.

Then why are they implementing Android software features into the new IOS 26
Why did google copy iOS in 2009? So much so lawsuit was initiated.
Because google have to innovate more with android and apple have a certain demographic that doesn’t like change
Because google just throws it against the wall and sees what sticks while Apple puts spit, shine and polish on its products.

It’s not 2007 anymore I think it’s time move on as it’s starting to sound like the old guy in the corner that says back in my day
Meaning about 2 decades ago

Yeah that’s called trying new things to see if they work out
Where as apple has been accused of waiting to see what other companies do & if it’s successful then take it and implement it their way years down the line

Doesn’t matter. Google started and now posters have the audacity to dismiss one of the biggest attempted rip-offs?

Yep. Because that’s the way interface design works in the industry. Google has copied a lot from iOS in the past. Apple copies from google but puts spit and polish on it.

It’s not 2007 anymore
It’s time to stop living in the past
Just like an old timer saying back in my day
Maybe that’s apple’s problem they have too many mature people who don’t like change?

In certain ways android is a better OS than
IOS because they can implement changes and new features quicker because of a certain demographic of apple customers

it’s really telling now that google can put advertisements out there saying we implemented this feature and feature
And now apple are just putting it into
IOS 26

It’s not 2007 anymore
It’s not yesterday either. So what’s your point?
It’s time to stop living in the past
Copying is copying.

They have mature customers who enjoy the polish of the hardware and software. And those customers spend billions of dollars a quarter.

Sure. Throw it against the wall and see what sticks.

That your an old timer bringing up things from about 20 years ago not things that are relevant now
Just clinging to the past with things that happened nearly 2 decades ago.

Nah buddy majority of mature people don’t like change and that’s one of apple problems got to take it slow for these people

Right what’s wrong with that
It’s better than just waiting for someone else to try something and see if that works and then put it into your OS
Or launch hardware because the competition are doing it like a big phone for example

Sorry copying is as relevant yesterday as it is today.

Stop clinging to the past like an old timer
Clinging onto past glory’s

As well, research has shown that older people become much more set in their ways than younger ones, and are less open to new experiences. This pattern of personality development, while a generalisation, tends to hold true across cultures. However, this pattern is more an issue of will than ability to change.

Or now what they do is sit and wait to see what sells or works and then they implement it like the 6 plus because Samsung where selling big phones

Copying is copying. It did happen and is relevant to this conversation.

Yeah if you’re into your 80s. Many people I know (25-75) want a new experience, including myself. But we want a polished experience. Not an android type experience.

I like when Apple copies and it translates into billions in revenue. Criticize all you want, green is money.

It’s only relevant because old timers keep having to go back about 20 years and not bring something up from recent times
Maybe that’s the problem here

Well that’s incorrect about a new experience on iOS for people because most of there customers don’t want that they like slow and steady because of the customer base and continuity
That is why they can’t take chances compared with android and new features.

Why do you like it when a company copies and makes a lot in revenue
It’s a bit odd to think like that about a company that is out to make money and nothing else

I remember what prototypes of Android phones looked like before the introduction of the iPhone so I don't care what Google thinks.
I remember what the first car looked like so any car that comes after that I don’t car what they companies say
Do you know how silly that sounds

One of the problems that apple have got is they have certain types of customers that can’t accept they have fallen behind in certain aspects in mobile and in some instances companies have went ahead of them

Again it’s not 2007 that was nearly two decades ago (meaning 20 years ago)
Things have changed in certain aspects google has implemented certain changes to their OS for the better because they can
And apple because of their demographic can’t do things like that and that is the issue apple has

In fact as someone who has purchased iPhones for ex amount of years I would say there used to be a gap in terms of software between iOS and android this gap no longer exists anymore and one of the problems is apple have a demographic they have to cater for and that hinders them
The biggest gap is in Privacy... Basically, the most relevant and important of all features.
Google rushes to release half-baked mediocre features just to please the crowds without any concern for security and privacy.
Even if they make their phones dispense brewed coffee, I'm not switching to Android.

What is this privacy nonsense all about
You do understand people have information about you already

What security is that because if you don’t do anything dodgy then you have no concerns then as multiple people I know have never had any issues on android

Regarding half baked features at least they try unlike apple who now have a reputation of waiting to see what works or sells then they package it as there own just like the 6 plus in response to Samsung’s big phones
