LOLLLLL, okay Apple shill.

Tell that to every Pixel phone I've owned and compare to the amount of iPhones I had to have repaired or replaced in warranty before I switched to Android. Guess how many repairs I've had on each one of my Pixel phones? I'll give you a hint, it starts with the letter Z.
Funny, never once had to have an apple device repaired but happy knowing I can just walk into the local store to do so.

My Pixel 5, Moto X, and Galaxy Note 4 on the other hand all lasted less than a year and trying to get warranty service was useless. Mailed in my Moto X and had to wait months to get it back. Never again.

i don’t care about rcs or really even know what it is, but you gotta hand it to them, they nailed this parody

It’s not like Apple is known for listening to its users a lot anyway. Apple likes to do their own thing instead.

Or, if Siri is anything to go by, maybe listening, but not responding usefully. ;)
you have data showing majority of iPhone users want to RCS technology for messaging ?

I think Apple won't support RCS until the carriers insist. Hopefully they do so soon.

It's frustrating that Apple so often pretends Android doesn't exist. A phone is a communication device; it should be able to communicate as securely and reliably as possible with all other phones.
use What'sApp or 10 different apps that are created to chat ?

The European Union is already prepping up legislation forcing all the tech companies to alter their proprietary messaging services to work together, seamlessly. It’s just a matter of time..
EU should pass a law to force phone manufacturers to open up hardware so that i can install windows, linux, Android on my phone.
And force Apple to make their SOC designs open source so that Huawei, google, one plus can use that designs to make more powerful phones.
people will benefit from this.
all manufacturers should have at least one phone with LED screen that would make phones more affordable too.

Just get along for once and come up with something that works better than a slow, unreliable SMS protocol that predates the original iPhone. It's like seeing two countries at war with each other when most people just try to go about their daily lives.

Apple acknowledges Android exists. It's just there's no motivation to make iMessage apps for Android. Similarly, there's minimal motivation for Meta to make WhatsApp for iPad.

Counterpoint: Apple provides Music apps for Android (both the standard and classical flavors). I use it on my e-paper tablet (a kind of tablet that Apple doesn't make).

I do NOT, and NEVER will have apps from
Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook on any of my IOS devices, I simply can not trust them, I do NOT want to be the product that is being sold.
THAT is the big thing for google, they are missing out on the gravy train of Apple users who's data they can not mine, and its those exact users who spend more $.

Just go to https://killedbygoogle.com/ to see the death and destruction as soon as Google thinks its not earning enough $ to bother supporting it anymore.

No one cares about SMS or anything related to it outside the US.

We have Whatsapp, Telegram, and a dozen other messaging apps.

PS: I am currently in Indonesia and it seems in this country, SMS is for spam. No one uses it, but I get a ton of spam messages and promos. It's weird. 😄 That's why my messages app is buried inside a folder on page 3 somewhere..

Are you suggesting that because they can't be trusted to maintain their apps that they should not be trusted to maintain RCS?
I'm sure Apple is vying to get on board, wait, it's a text messaging standard owned and controlled by Google, what could possibly go wrong 🤣

They should put iMessage on Android and make it a first class app, really. Then it would be relevant.
As it is, nobody cares about this outside the USA. WhatApp, Line, Telegram, FB messenger, etc... there's a lot of messaging apps that work on all devices.

Telegram is decent but isn't used widely in the US, sadly. I have one Android user on Telegram. Sometimes Discord, Instagram, or WhatsApp are options for talking to Android users. I have one Android user on Discord.

It depends on the person you're talking to and two of those are Facebook products which I'm not crazy about either. Fragmented ecosystems are a messy business. I just want to talk to someone, I don't care about the platform nor do I want to be a bad friend because I forget to check that specific app they're on and never see their replies.

Once again,

Where has this Google iPage commercial been shown in the “wild”?

Or has it only been shown in press releases and on the internet within Google products?

If so, why are we even bothering to discuss it?

This is some big Steve Jobs energy and I am all for it. Haha.
Steve announced FaceTime would be coming to Android.

He also brought Safari to Windows. And he wanted webapps instead of native apps on iOS.

I wouldn't be so sure that this is "big Steve energy." I could definitely see arguments either way about what he might have done.

Personally, I put "sending and receiving pictures/videos with Android phones will work" down in the "why I should switch to Android" column. But then it breaking with iPhones is why I wouldn't switch.

The two people I text most are on iphones... but then contacts #3-10 consist of one iPhone and a ton of Androids...

Anyways, none of this should be a factor at all. This is petty and dumb all around. I'm glad the EU is legally forcing Apple to adopt standards that benefit literally everyone.

Google is continuing on with its relentless #GetTheMessage marketing campaign in an attempt to get Apple to adopt the RCS messaging protocol. In its latest ad, Google shows off the "iPager," which Google describes as a device that "uses outdated messaging tech" like Apple uses "when texting with Android."

RCS, or Rich Communication Services, is a communication protocol designed by and adopted by Google. Google has been pushing Apple to implement support for RCS, but Apple devices continue to support the older SMS protocol. Google claims that Apple is responsible for all the issues that Android and iPhone users have texting one another, including lack of encryption, broken group chats, pixelated pictures and videos, and the green bubbles.

"iPager isn't real, but the problems that Apple causes by using SMS are. Let's make texting better for everyone and help Apple #GetTheMessage and upgrade to RCS," read's Google's video.

Major U.S. carriers and other carriers worldwide have adopted support for RCS, but Apple has no plans to do so despite Google's multi-year effort. Google has used billboards, ads, websites, social media campaigns, and more to get Apple's attention and to try to convince iPhone users to request the feature from Apple, but so far, it hasn't worked.

In September 2022, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that RCS is not a priority for Apple. "I don't hear our users asking that we put a lot of energy in on that at this point," he explained. To one reporter who said he was having an issue texting his mother on an Android device, Cook said "Buy your mom an iPhone."

It is not clear if Apple will ever adopt RCS, but so far, it does not sound like the company has any interest in doing so. If Apple did adopt RCS, it would allow for end-to-end encryption for conversations between iPhone and Android users, as well as higher quality media. Apple already offers these features for the iMessage service that works from iPhone to iPhone.

Why would Apple want to use Google's proprietary software? Which is what Google is pushing for.

Apple will never adopt RCS unless 2FA systems adopt the tech and drop SMS.
And this is where, if Google was in any way serious about the adoption of RCS, they’d be talking to the companies spending millions of dollars a year on SMS. BUT as even RCS falls back to SMS, there’s no dropping SMS. As a result, no way any companies are going to support paying for a tech that doesn’t even reach half of the folks that WhatsApp does.

ragging on competitors should have died out in the sega vs nintendo days. doesn't look good.
There’s actually some data showing that, in this social media world, talking about your competition does work… somewhat. So, even if not completely effective, they’ll be sticking around.

The carriers gave up. Even the GSMA gave up on RCS.
