hey guys, noob question here.
this is my first iphone..

I have a ip4 JB with limera1n when it released.
I followed the iclarifed steps to upgrade from 4.0.1 to 4.1 with preserving my 1.59BB (needed for ultrasn0w).
My question is how do i restore back to a non jb version on 4.1 keeping my 1.59BB so that i can re-JB with greenpois0n?

thanks

Follow the exact same steps to restore back to 4.1 using TinyUmbrella and iTunes. Though I have to ask - if you're already jailbroken, why are you restoring and re-jailbreaking? Problems with limera1n?

If you are not having any issues you don't need to re jailbreake with GP, enjoy your Jailbreak

thanks for the fast reply. as of yet i do not have any problems as others have had (knock on wood) with limera1n. But if ever a situation arrived which required to re-jb with greenposi0n, then its good to be informed on the process.

cheers

I believe the jailbreak itself is permanent (ie: apple cannot do anything on current hardware to close it) however the untethered part (the part that makes it so you dont have to run greenpoison each time you reboot) is 4.1 specific. However MuscleNerd has said comex has multiple other exploits for this in the future, and other people are working on dongles to plug in during reboots that make it so you wont have to carry a computer around to jailbreak if they run out of untether exploits.

are both limera1n and gp permentant jailbreaks?

The "Jailbreak" is not permeant, if you update your firmware you will lose it, the exploit use to enable the Jailbreak will always be present on your device, so as a minimum you will always be able to have a Tether Jailbreak (need the computer assistance to injet the code). Comex had said that he got several other userland exploit to assist the Bootrom exploit in order to make it UNtethered, if this are not patch by apple on future firmware, they will be able to use them. If they are patch they just need to work on finding new ones.

hi guys...have a few questions.

I primarily use my macbook pro to sync with my iphone, but I do have a pc. if I jailbreak on a PC, could i still resync to my mac after and still keep my jailbreak?

if so, then I think I will try greenpoison. this will be my first jailbreak.

thanks

yes, no problem, you are syncing with your windows machine, you are just using Greenpois0n

LR works just fine :D

Seriously, out of all the JB's I've tried (since Spirit) LR has had the smoothest transition with the least bugs on my device. So I'm sticking with that until something goes bad. Granted, I first installed the Beta 2 LR, so I missed the bugs in Beta 1 LR.

Just used RC3, it left a file on my desktop called "ibss.n90ap" for a bit. Interesting name for the tether, "Diskpois0n".

had a white icon called "Loader" which grabbed Cydia and removed itself, then Cydia grabbed the rest of the userland, and went through the normal update cycle.

The CDT did great work on RC3. Thank you guys very much for writing this.

Now, if the device can just boot up every time in the verbose boot mode showing what is going on instead of the Apple logo, that would rock.
