All of a sudden I'm not so keen to upgrade to 4.1, nor get my phone replaced. The thought of a new baseband and no saved SHSH's troubles me. Well, at least it's good to know that the tool will be there if and when I need it.
With multiple people finding it necessary to copy directly from Twitter, as if people who are interested can't go directly to Twitter (what a concept), 15 will be the over/under.
I have to say, it's too bad SHAtter won't work on the new-bootrom 3GS. There are a lot of those out there, and they're still being sold. Ah, well.
then you'll probably have to wait for pwnagetool (which musclenerd said will be out too) instead, because i'm not sure if this one prevents a new baseband from installing.
I have a 3GS purchased around a year ago. Will this be jailbreakable? How do I check if its the new or old bootrom?
I used to have a jailbroken ipod touch (which was cool by the way). Now I have only an unactivated iphone 4 running 4.1. Will greenpois0n require activation of the phone (through a gophone SIM)? Or can I jailbreak on 10/10/10 without that hassle? The iphone was new in the box, but I want to get it jailbroken.
Well we currently do not know that. If I upgrade to 4.1 using tinyumbrella to preserve my baseband then greenpoison is similar to spirit what you just press a button and it jailbreaks then I will be able to do it that way. But if you have to make custom firmware and it is quite a complex thing to do then Using tinyumbrella might not be an option.

I'm new but have been reading a lot on these forums. I want to jailbreak my iphone but did not learn enough about it in time to save my SHSH blobs I would need to do it. So I just want to make sure I understand this correctly:
My iphone: 3gs new bootroom on 4.1. This new jailbreak will not work, correct? I will have to wait for them to find an exploit for this?
Son iphone: 3g on 4.1. No blobs saved, can this be jailbroken? I didn't think so with no SHSH blobs saved and it doesn't seem like the new jailbreak will do it either from what I'm reading.

Isnt there already a jailbreak for 3g and 3gs on 4.1? Im pretty sure you didnt need to wait for greenpois0n to JB those.

I believe you can do it if you have saved any version of firmware prior to 4.0.2 as SHSH blobs. My issue is that I did not do that in time and now it is too late to get them. From what I understand I would need them in order to roll back my firmware to one of those versions to be able to jailbreak. I may have misunderstood that though.
