And my iPad Mini 5 had irresponsiveness issues with touch and the pencil as well so back that went today.

Wasn’t about to take another financial hit from this issue after my 2017 iPP developed touch and pencil irresponsiveness about 5-6 weeks in and Apple would not exchange.

I kept trying iPads because they’ve inspired me to start drawing, but I think I’ll just move onto a Wacom now.

I have an iPad mini with the Apple pencil and didn't have any problem, the same was with my old iPad Pro 9.7, but the new 12.9 started after a few days to have touch problems.

For what it's worth, I can reproduce this 100% of the time (not registering touch input) by opening safari and tapping the address bar (to pop down your recent, bookmarks, etc) I get 1-2 seconds of complete unresponsiveness every single time.

If I restart the device, it goes away for a few days.

I've not bothered to bring it in to an Apple Store because the nearest one is quite a distance from me.

2017 (2nd Gen) iPad Pro 12.9.

Try a Surface Go!

When I first purchased my iPad Pro (2018) I had similar issues. It turned out to be due to the case I chose to put it in. Seemed to me the magnetic case was conflicting with the Apple Pencil dock functionality. As soon as I removed it from the case, my iPad was fine. I went through a few cases until I finally found one that did not cause an issue.

I tried a Pro, an SL2 and a Surface Book. I am Windows challenged.

Thank you though.
HAHA "Windows Challenged" At least you weren't like not going to even try it because of windows. Yeah it was an adjustment for me too but when I switched I had a surface pro with windows 8. If you would have tried it then you would have loved it. Windows 8 was 10X better for tablet and touch devices. At that point I would say it was better than OS X but windows 10 is a downgrade from when I first went in.

Well, Apple is returning mine after doing nothing, they said they can't duplicate the issue... Let's see how it ends, but if starts doing the same after a clean setup, it will go back again to them until they fix whatever it has.
Record with your iPhone as soon as it starts.

I had to do this with the ‘This accessory not supported” bug of iPhones past because I couldn’t get it to happen at the Genius Bar.

I had this problem with a new 2nd generation iPad Pro 12.9”. It was fine out of the box, but iOS 11.3 (I think) made it virtually inoperable. Eventually they replaced it. The replacement also suffers from the same issues, but not to thendegree of the first one. I went through so much grief over the first one that I just deal with the foibles and issues now. I WAS used to flawless performance from Apple products, having only ventured into cyberspace for the very first time on a 1st gen iPad in 2010. I’m now a freelance content marketer and earn my whole living online. I’ve only ever used apple products. I have a bunch of them now. My disappointment in the iPad Pro 12.9” is real.

How real is it bruh?

Coincidence or not, but my iPhone XS Max started exhibiting similar behaviour yesterday. I couldn’t even use safari, as soon as I tap the address bar it would freeze. How strange.

Just look at all the people in here who don’t even own an iPad Pro and saying they have issues. Come on people, you can’t just make stuff up to make Apple look bad. How about this my Samsung Galaxy S10+ constantly overheats and doesn’t respond to touch and in order to use it I have to wait for a phone call or call myself.

Now, will you keep accusing people of saying lies, which is an insult, or will you apologize?

There are tons of threads about this issue with the iPad pros - if you have an iPad pro and do not have the problem you are lucky - but it does not mean that others don't have it

Also can check on the apple support forums and other apple forums if you want - this is a real issue

Who are those 'all people' you're referring to? Do you know people on this forum? Are you another marketing robot from Apple? Do you have statistics on who has this problem and who hasn't? How is your Samsung issue connected to MacRumors, and this thread about us, people owning faulty Apple hardware?

Just bought an 11inch 256gb 2018 pro last week from bestbuy.

So far I haven’t experienced any issues. Hoping it remains that way, would be a shame to have these issues on a $1k device.

However, this thread has made me consider returning it to bestbuy and purchasing one from Costco due to their 90 day return policy :O.

I’ve had the problem since I first bought the ipad in early december, been through 4 software updates with no fix, tried turning off or changing every possible setting, even completely erased and set up as a new ipad and no fix. I am almost certain its a hardware issue. I returned to Apple and received a brand new replacement which is now having the same issues, possibly even worse now.
The issue occurs in every single app, on the homescreen and in settings.

Im now planning on asking for a refund this time which is a shame because I really like this ipad...

Check out these videos I have posted on youtube that show the issue:

I originally thought that may have been the issue until I removed all cases for a few days and the issue was still occuring. Same issue is also happening with my replacement ipad pro 12.9.

Take a look at my videos, definitely not making stuff up, this is a serious issue affecting both 11 and 12.9 2018 ipad pros. I bought a 2018 12.9 wifi 256GB, just got it replaced and the replacement is having the exact same issues...

I have something very similar to those except the duration of them seems to a bit shorter. I especially have a thing with the swiping, either sideways or up and down freezing. It most often happens on my phone as it's what I use the most, so hard for me to capture on video.

Thank you for yours as it illustrates something that can be difficult to explain/other people to believe.

My second generation 12.9 will often stop responding to touch all together and after many many attempts and using the home button to close and than reopen it starts responding again. I also get frequent problems with the keyboard. I have been super frustrated with this and it’s actually made me start using my iPad less because it’s so disruptive when it happens. I have been thinking of maybe not using my iPad as my main internet device anymore and switching to a Lenovo laptop. Especially if the newer iPads have the same issue.
