I wonder if someone from Apple is reading this thread...

At least all the shills that “report” miracle solutions to this haha On the serious note I think they know they just hide it to keep their sales.

Maybe we should all write 1 star reviews on Amazon? Clearly pointing out the issue?

Good idea! Personally I’ll go and do it. There are at least 15% of reviews on Amazon with one or two stars on iPad from people with that problem already. And seems it’s not enough! I’m not sure what is enough for Apple to start fixing things. For Microsoft Surface it was enough to have a 2000 users’ petition.

Yup, same thing with one of the 10.5" Pro iPads-- tried a system restore and the screen still doesn't want to respond at all. Tried DFU restore too, that didn't work either. Now it's out of warranty, so I'm hoping Apple will take care of us all, like they have in the past.

Very disappointed in the way that Apple is addressing or in this case not addressing this issue. I preordered the new iPad Pro and right out of the box there were issues with the touch sensitivity and screen freeze. Called Apple Care and went through a screen share and factory reset. All seemed good for a week, then the same issues occurred again. I understand it is a new product and technical fine tuning is expected.

I was hoping that the latest update would resolve the issue but it did not. Called customer service and was told they will replace but I have to place a hold on my credit card in order for them to ship me a new one. This may seem petty but for a product this expensive I expect more from Apple.

In my opinion Apple is its own worst enemy, pushing out untested products to artificially inflate sales projections for the stock market while at the same time loosing its memory on how they became who they are today.

After this experience I will never purchase another Apple product again. Never learned to use Android but many more options with good customer service. This is not the Apple I once knew.

You have to let us know how the replacement works - my guess is it will have the same issue and that this is a software issue / sensitivity issue.

If it is a hardware issue and can be fixed with a replacement - then apple will be facing a lot of returns. So far from what I have seen in these forums and others like the apple forums - units that have been replaced have the same issues within a short period of time.

I have been just getting along despite the problem, and hoping for a software update that will resolve it - so far almost a year and no solution.

I have 2017 10.5 iPad Pro cellular 256MB, latest iOS and do have this issue.. sometimes, very random just does not scroll etc..

You know I came to the same Apple store three times to replace my own non-responsive iPad and every time the person told me they see this problem for the first time. If Apple faces a lot of returns.... we will never find it out! Look what's going on with MacBooks' keyboards. They just hide the numbers of real returns and say it's a small percentage, while in reality it is not.

Unfortunately I'm 99.99% percent sure it's hardware, otherwise why my latest iPad has it after full software reset and didn't have it on the same iOS when I first got it.

Today the issue has returned on my 3rd replacement iPad Pro. Why has apple not acknowledged this yet?

They never acknowledge a problem. In the fall, I returned 2 different Maxes 6 weeks apart and was talking to one Genius Bar person the 2nd time and told how I was having connectivity problems and explaining them to her. She was like, "huh, haven’t heard of that". I said right to her, "I think you helped me 6 weeks ago with my last return for the same thing". She just brushed it off.

Not trying to justify Apple (NOT AT ALL), but what do you expect?

I mean I work with people just like the Apple lady you describe, and i cannot remember who i talked to an hour ago let alone 6 weeks ago, I mean in some job you meet so many people every hour that you can't possibly remember them.

That brings you to the second part of it, how do I believe we talked about it and you are not a complete stranger who is leveraging what he heard on internet?

And third, do you expect a low level employee to tell you, "Heck we sell crap, we know, give me your device I will swap it with a new unit"?

All company will tell you either to deny or act like you did not know the issue as part of a non disclosure agreement dutring your contract signing.

You put her in a tight spot and she brushed it off...

Yup, sounds about right. Apple are similar to BMW when it comes to acknowledging serious flaws with their products: they both deny, deny, deny and often resort to ludicrous 'fixes' when finally cornered. They also both have armies of dedicated fans whose sole purpose in life seems to be defending their favourite company against any and all criticisms. I remember BMW's infamous N54 engine that lost power at high speeds due to a faulty fuel pump. The car would go into 'limp mode', basically almost no power. For years the company denied there was a problem, and even tried to blame their customers in a roundabout way saying that drivers lacked education about this limp mode or some such nonsense. Even worse was their 'fix' effectively resulted in limiting the turbos from achieving full thrust which meant you paid for a certain amount of power but weren't allowed to use it! Absolutely ridiculous! Class action lawsuits followed. The pattern is strikingly similar to Apple's modus operandi.

You can not change your IT infrastructure like your underwear.
It costs a lot of money (hardware, training, implementation). Many have a business relying on it and learned to work with Macs for decades. It can be a hard switch when your productivity suffers.
Also ecosystem lock-in is not a myth, that is why you will se a lot of complaining before people leave.

Started with replacing iMac desktop with a DIY PC in 2016. (AMD Ryzen 7)
Used it as dual boot hackintosh first but then switched to ubuntu and stayed there.
I am very happy with it. And it is very modular :D

Will replace my private iPhone with some cheap 150€ android i do not care about brand. Bought my mom one a year ago for this price and am amazed how well it works.

MBP2011 still runs fine, since i upgraded HD and RAM and swapped the DVD Drive for second SSD.
Don't now yet what i will replace it with, but will run on Linux/Windows. Heard think pads are nice and have working keyboards... company mbp2016 15" will be same, will run it until its dead and replace with some Linux machine.

Unless of course apple makes a 180degree turn and surprises us all with good hardware again and stop their leftists hypocritical SJW and globalist politics, propaganda and censorship. But i highly doubt...

Good for you to dropping the hackintosh.
Others doing that are violating the license agreement and stealing their software (they is price is part of the hardware price). That’s really selfish and unethical. If someone doesn’t want Apple products then don’t buy them. But don’t pretend they have a right to steal their software because hey don’t like their hardware.

I’ve had the problem since I first bought the ipad in early december, been through 4 software updates with no fix, tried turning off or changing every possible setting, even completely erased and set up as a new ipad and no fix. I am almost certain its a hardware issue. I returned to Apple and received a brand new replacement which is now having the same issues, possibly even worse now.
The issue occurs in every single app, on the homescreen and in settings.

Im now planning on asking for a refund this time which is a shame because I really like this ipad...

Check out these videos I have posted on youtube that show the issue:

I originally thought that may have been the issue until I removed all cases for a few days and the issue was still occuring. Same issue is also happening with my replacement ipad pro 12.9.

Take a look at my videos, definitely not making stuff up, this is a serious issue affecting both 11 and 12.9 2018 ipad pros. I bought a 2018 12.9 wifi 256GB, just got it replaced and the replacement is having the exact same issues...

That bodes not well. Have my genius appointment tomorrow to replace two of them. I think that it feels more like a software issue giving the timing and sudden onset (though it’s definitely getting worse over time) but in the absence of a fix hardware replacement is the only real option.

I have the iPad Pro 11 with no touch screen issue, until I updated to iOS 12.3.

Now I have missed touches, lag, etc. So this is definitely an iOS issue.

I just swapped mine with a replacement unit (love AppleCare!) because of it. But then upgraded to the latest model from my 2017 - does not do it on the new hardware. Since it's inconsistent, and definitely gets worse over time, I wonder if there's some subset of hardware that's interacting with a software bug.

I’ve had this issue with my new 12.9”. I find that unplugging it and plugging it back in usually resolves it - I assumed it was some sort of ground loop issue interfering with the capacitive sensing. Every once in awhile i need to reboot to resolve, though.

Sorry, I have to suggest....

Just for a test, I noticed the touch screen issue does not occur when I use the Apple Pencil (Gen 2). When I have problem tapping certain location (regardless of the app), I used the Apple Pencil and the tap work.

I am now 90% sure that this issue have to do with how the screen react to fingerprint as opposed to Apple Pencil AND iOS 12.3.

PS: I posted in Reddit (/r/ipad) to ask if anyone experiences this and got downvoted to oblivion.

I don't have this issue - I own both the 12.9" and 11" LTE models.

Admittedly I don't use the on-screen keyboard often though, I have the smart folio for both.
[doublepost=1558876675][/doublepost]Under a month old...pencil, folio, screen takes several swipes, key strokes, anything related to input is so bad. I’ve been messing with this all day. I feel its the processor “thinking”. If you wait a a second or 2 it works as it should. The warmer the pad gets, the longer you have to wait...in the beginning it was just a 1-2 inch strip that seemed bad, around the edge like a picture frame...now it’s the entire screen...I find my self using my 3 year old pad way more. I reboot, and use the screen in port rate position, just did it...working perfectly...let’s go landscape.....ok typing away right now...works great...it’s so spuratic, lol. So just read this, 1 or 2 typos...could have been a real typo this time

I have some of these issues with my iPhone Max. Mostly the keyboard will not respond when I start to type.

Yep, I have noticed this stuff for the first time, recently, intermittently and only since iOS 12.2: some display stuttering (on an iPhone SE) and some laggy response or nonresponsiveness on an iPad Pro (10.5").

The stuttering occurred while reading articles in a news app as I got towards bottom of piece, not sure it was the same app and can't remember now if there was any sort of banner or "follow on" laid over the article itself. The incidence rate of stuttering has been low enough that I've only sort of filed it in back of mind as something to keep an eye out for recurrence. The nonresponsiveness on the iPad has seemed a little more generalized and frequent, but annoying enough that I've resorted to using a stylus more often than I usually do. I was thinking "fat fingers"... or calluses or something. Old age?! better me than my gear since these devices aren't that old! A software hiccup is what I'm hoping for.

Still no such issues on my end. iOS 12.3.1 / 2018 12.9” and 2018 11”. I do think the 2017 models and before have issues though.
