Apple can't seem to do anything right anymore. Then when they are confronted about it, they offer a generic public statement and move on to the next thing. They can't even make quality products at this point. As I've often said in recent months...a shell of their former selves. I wish someone would just dethrone this POS company already. It's not on the level it should be for the premiums they charge over their active competition, they need to be taught a lesson, once and for all.

I agree with your sentiment, but they're not stupid enough to let that happen. The shift into services is such an easy way to stay afloat as a company, they can basically coast for another 30 years without really needing to do anything if their services work out.

I have a 2017 2nd Gen 12.9 LTE and have had this issue for a while. In fact, it’s happening right now!

It’s intermittent and happens on any screen or app, even the launcher. Really annoying. I have AppleCare and will take it in at some point, but others have suggested there’s no real fix and you’ll just get a replacement that will eventually exhibit the same issue.

It's starting to sound like almost everything Apple releases has issues:confused: Premium computer my as#

Mac Pro 2019 could be scary;)
According to the Verge even the News+ is shonky.
Maybe this is a deliberate feature to make that seem more polished.

Just the iPad? How about the entire OS since iOS 7 - That’s when all this stuttering nonsense first occurred. Stutters in any way shape or form in 2019 with the supposed powerful chips they have now when there wasn’t any stutters with less powerful chips over six years ago is just abysmal from a company who (once) prided itself with nothing but quality.

Also not mentioned is that tempered glass screen protectors cause huge difficulties with the 11” iPad Pro screen, a real negative for people who like to keep their screens in good condition. Apple hasn’t responded to those issues either.

To be fair, when they add features which apply to the display and you put something on top of that "stock" display glass, then that's your problem as a consumer for adding something additional. I know it may seem minute, but you're still applying another surface on top of the touch interface/glass that the pad was not technically designed to be used with.

Looks like a software issue. I find iOS to be very prone to lagging and stuttering. In general it’s just not up to Apple’s former quality standards.

It's likely software. Was fine on my 2017 until a couple of months ago, now it happens all the time.

IMO, this is likely a software issue. I have the original 12.9" iPad Pro from 2015 and began getting a lot of freezes or moments of unresponsiveness during the last 6-8 months. It's most common within the main screens of the OS, but it can also occur in 1st party apps like Photos or 3rd party apps like Kindle. It seems similar to what happens with the spinning 'beachball' in MacOS minus being able to see any type of system graphic telling you there's a temporary problem. It usually clears up within a few seconds and things will function normally.

I would tentatively say that it's been improved by the latest iOS update, but need to spend more time with that version in place to really know for sure.

Then it’s reassuring to know that Apple at least will address the issue if it is an occurring problems for other iPad users with the keyboard. That’s what it’s all about, the customer service standing behind the product to make it right for the customer.

For 90 days, at least.

This literally JUST started happening for me last night immediately after I updated to 12.2. So I’m guessing a 12.2 bug. All of a sudden it started feeling like an old windows PC chugging under heavy load. Constant freezing and frame dropping for 3-4 seconds at a time.

I’m Roger. The guy who emailed Juli. It was my last resort. There are so many of us on forums who have been going through these issues and until it happens in the store, even with video evidence, Apple wouldn’t admit to the problem.

I replaced my Mac with an iPad just how Apple asked me to, but I couldn’t get work done. At all. I’m lucky I had AppleCare and had the first unit replaced but this was after not being believed by the Genius Bar.

I love Apple and actually felt bad reporting it but, we had no other option. This costs more than a MacBook Air and it’s unacceptable.

Screen touch issues with iPad Air 2, iPhone 7 all on latest IOS. Touch keyboards on both now miss characters, and a couple of my iPhone apps are now pausing. I do not have an iPad Pro but the mentioned problems are also on my devices.

My 10.5 iPad Pro started screen stuttering last year. I assumed it was some system software issue interacting with the way Safari renders web pages. Annoying when it happens, but not a show stopper. IMO it’s a typical example of Apples half-assed software efforts of late.

Well, the good news is that this is likely just a software issue and can hopefully be patched to fix.
My October 2015 12.9" iPad Pro at some point started to become quite unresponsive at times (typing could be a royal pain when you had to hit each key on average two or three times before it would register, funnily enough it sometimes made the clicking noise but the letter would not appear on screen). This might have started roughly with the release of iOS 11 in September 2017. It was finally fixed with the release of iOS 12. However, now with iOS 12.2 it seems to have returned, though in a milder form.

Glad someone is finally making news of this besides our little thread in the iPad section. This issue has been very aggravating the past few months. A $1300 iPad that becomes unusable every few minutes is not acceptable.
I hassled Juli enough.

The way iOS is architected, without a bunch of processors its gonna stutter. I doubt even 8 processors would be enough. Everything runs as its own daemon, so you have to wait for it to wake up and start processing.

Stuttering is one thing. Being unresponsive is quite another. If you have to hit a letter on the on-screen keyboard five times before it registers that isn't stuttering anymore. Stuttering means you are waiting on something, unresponsive means it doesn't register input. Of course while it is stuttering it might become unresponsive as well but that is temporary, wait a bit and it will start become responsive again.
