How quick was it for you? I've reported an area that has been re imaged but the quality is horrendous. Never heard back at all.I had the same positive experience: reporting an issue will result in a quick fix.

I reported wrong info in a few shops. I'd say it took less than a week to get fixed. How quick was it for you? I've reported an area that has been re imaged but the quality is horrendous. Never heard back at all.
They have been for years. No one will leave ios as every competitor will immediately do the same....
How will that change anything? Which maps app without sponsored places will you install? We need sideloading more then ever now
This isn’t related to privacy. Sponsored places would relate to your immediate search query.“I’m speaking to you from Silicon Valley, where some of the most prominent and successful companies have built their businesses by lulling their customers into complacency about their personal information,” said Cook. “They’re gobbling up everything they can learn about you and trying to monetize it. We think that’s wrong. And it’s not the kind of company that Apple wants to be.”
-Tim Cook, 2015
For you maybe. Works fine for me.Do people actually use Apple Maps? It’s dreadful compared with google maps.
So, your position is that there should only be Google maps on the market, because they do great already?Apple Maps is an example of the opposite of the norm. Apple copying something that was already well established, and doing just great without Apple.
Google maps which has had the same sponsored places for years?Guess I'll have to go back to Google if I find I'm inundated with ads in Apple Maps.
This has got nothing to do with tracking. And no one is forcing you to use the app.I keep Google anything off of off all my computer equipment. Perhaps we will be able to delete the Apple Map app to slow down being tracked.
The thing about feelings, as opposed to facts, is that they are not necessarily based on anything concrete. Why do I have a feeling… through these ads Apple will be able to collect data and then spy on us![]()
No. How will a sponsored place, showing up depending on searches, be “used to track users”?Aren't ads going to be used to track users which goes directly against the privacy first philosophy of Apple?
Enjoy even more ads, I guess? And back to Google Maps I go. I've been using Waze for directions, so this change will completely take Apple Maps off my Home Screen.
When did he say that and what exactly did he say? None of what you’re saying is making sense in this context. You’re not locked into the platform, as you can use a third party password manager or your brain if you wish.Privacy is already gone and has been replaced with strategy. Some time ago Apple's Federighi said that health data should not be stored in the cloud – now Apple promotes to store our passwords in iCloud (so we are locked into the platform) which is much worse (and by the way these passwords may also be used for accessing health data).
No, that’s not what’s proposed in this rumor. This is sponsored places, which depends on your search query, not user data.Google doesn't sell your information either. They sell a targeted ad subject (you and me), which is based on information Google collects about us, the same as what's proposed in this Apple rumor.
Also here in DenmarkOnly outside the US and maybe Canada. Americans and Canadians would likely disagree with that statement, Apple Maps works fine there.
Perhaps you’d like to offer something concrete instead of just mockery about something you don’t know enough about?Oh don't worry, we still respect your "privacy" and "security". The targeted ads you will see aren't because we have been tracking you, it's simply because we know you and we care. The walled garden is to protect you, not for our profits. Trust us, you should trust us, just ask us.
This is just conspiracy theory nonsense. Got anything concrete?Pffft, Apple never respected your privacy. Same as the walled garden was never about your security. The only thing little Timmy cares about is profits and the size of his bonus.
That’s great, but please realize that everyone is not exactly like you. People use apps in different ways. I often use maps to find the nearest store of some type.I’m not going to use Apple Maps to find a retail store for things I need/want: I’m going to do my OWN research on the internet and word of mouth.
Because shareholders expect them to. If a company makes 1 trillion in year 2022, shareholders would demand 1.1 trillion in 2023. And 1.21 in 2024.Why are companies suddenly nickel and diming us so much? Everything is either about ads or about the “upgrade” that used to be standard. Will Apple offer an upcharge to avoid ads in Maps? At what point will Apple TV+ and other services come with an ad tier and a higher costing no-ad tier? The direction of the world in the age of inflation really sucks right now.
and now Safari is on its way to join Apple maps and mail.Apple Maps is absolutely awful, after a decade it hasn’t come close to catching up with Google.
Actually I like it now , but sure if there are ads now I’ll go back to Google MapsApple Maps is absolutely awful, after a decade it hasn’t come close to catching up with Google.
So…. The government is forcing apple to sell ads?I’m not a fan but I see this as a side-effect for governments wanting to regulate the platform.
Well...looks like I won't be using Apple Maps in the future...
Apple plans to begin showing search ads in its Maps app on the iPhone starting next year, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
![]()
"I believe the engineering work is already underway to launch search ads in the Apple Maps app, and we should begin to see it be implemented sometime next year," wrote Gurman, in the subscriber-only version of his "Power On" newsletter today.
Ads in the Apple Maps app would not be the traditional banner ads that you see on websites, but rather paid search results. For example, a fast food chain could pay Apple to appear near the top of the results when a user searches for "burgers" or "fries." Many similar apps already offer search ads, including Google Maps, Waze, and Yelp.
Apple already displays search ads in the App Store, allowing developers to pay to promote their apps to users who search for relevant keywords. Apple is also planning to show ads in the App Store's "Today" tab and in a new "You Might Also Like" section at the bottom of app listings, while banner ads are displayed in Apple's News and Stocks apps.
Last week, Gurman said Apple is planning to significantly expand its advertising business over time. In his newsletter, he said that Apple's advertising division is generating about $4 billion in revenue annually and that Apple's advertising chief Todd Teresi wants to increase that figure to at least $10 billion per year over time.

Not sure why you return to Google Maps if you don’t like ads since Google Maps is the progenitor in putting ads in maps. It’s like saying you don’t like vape because it has nicotine so you’re going back to cigarettes.😂Actually I like it now , but sure if there are ads now I’ll go back to Google Maps
This is the thing. Apple should be focusing more in enriching the database first instead of pushing search ads.Apple maps is useless. It ends where Silicon Valley ends plus a handful of other cities. I see the level of detail on the castro theatre when some cities like Nairobi haven't even properly been mapped with basic street names and navigation yet. And now they're coming with ads. No thanks.
Scott Forstall got it wrong then and they never got it right.
Exactly. Once Nairobi gets the same amount of detail as the silicon valley I’ll consider coming back.Apple maps is useless. It ends where Silicon Valley ends plus a handful of other cities. That is not my quote you’re answering to…couldn’t recall I ever wrote that and when clicking back to my post this is what I wrote:I hate to tell you this but Google Maps and Waze both have ads. And Waze ads are probably the worst ads in a map service.
Apple Maps has obviously improved a lot, and in many ways I think it exceeds Google Maps. But, where it does not beat Google Maps are in the most important areas, and that is in intelligence of searching for POIs and intelligence in alternate routes. Ask Siri (maps) for the nearest Costco and hear the "I found this one" and she shows you one that might not be the nearest. Google zooms out and lets me see the near Costcos with the one that is nearest at the top. Drive somewhere using Apple Maps for guidance, and stop following the route provided by Maps. Then be annoyed for minutes sometimes as it tells you to turn around to go back to the route it thought you were taking. Google almost instantly switches to an alternate route. Apple Maps UI undoubtedly beats Google Maps. And if the route Siri suggests is the route you want it is a fine product. But the application is dumb.Apple Maps is absolutely awful, after a decade it hasn’t come close to catching up with Google.
For the last 1.5 decade countries around the world has been printing money (currency strictly speaking) big time. There are simply more dollar bills out there than stuff you can buy with it. That’s why we have inflation. First bankers messed with the equilibrium in 2006-2007 and now governments messed with it the other way by printing more paper money So now it’s pay back time.Sorry, but between you and me, I'm not the one who doesn't know what inflation is.
Yep. But forcing apple to lose $$$.So…. The government is forcing apple to sell ads?
Seems like we will soon need a jailbreak called: remove built in iOS spyware
