Is this going to be the standard response every time Apple does something folks don’t like going forward?
It depends if what apple is doing smells like something they are attempting to make up revenue for the start of the impending regulations as I repeatedly said, customers are the losers here.
Apple eliminates blue as an iPhone color option

“This is obviously a side effect of government regulations.”

In reality it’s the same as it’s always been. Every principal Apple espouses will always be secondary to making the most $$$.
Seems like business 101 to me. However you want t to phrase it, apple makes it and customers buy it.

Not sure why you return to Google Maps if you don’t like ads since Google Maps is the progenitor in putting ads in maps. It’s like saying you don’t like vape because it has nicotine so you’re going back to cigarettes.😂
Because I prefere Apple plan for the reason there was no ads , if they put ads then I prefere tu use Google

The regulatory scrutiny is due to them using their market position in mobile to hobble the competition
Still completely legal.
For example introducing measures to hurt competitors advertising business while growing your own.
Example? But yeah, apples growing as business will be evident in maps st some point I suppose.

That’s great, but please realize that everyone is not exactly like you. People use apps in different ways. I often use maps to find the nearest store of some type.
Re-reading. It wasn’t clear. A better way to say it is that I don’t need Apple Maps doing business research for me: I just need the closest businesses near me related to the search term, not how much money they decided to spend on advertisement.

Basically, what you use it for (nearest store). I can then go to their website to research, or go to Yelp to read reviews.

These are my thoughts exactly. I use Waze and there are these types of ads. I don't feel bombarded or taken advantage of. I just ignore them like I do with most things
I started using Waze less precisely because of the ads, which are distracting when I see the flash from the corner of my eye. I really don't like the sound of increased ads on stock apps from Apple.

In light of the fact that we pay a premium for Apple products, which I'm happy to pay for premium products, I expect the included apps to be free of annoying ads! And just when Apple Maps was getting better. Guess I'll have to go back to Google if I find I'm inundated with ads in Apple Maps.
You aren't going any where. SHTOP!

Yep. But forcing apple to lose $$$.
Well it shows Apple doesn’t care about privacy or any of its core ideas. Just about making money. Same as google or Facebook. No principles.

And in this case you can’t walk away as 100% does the same. Showing the need for side loading and modification of software to protect user privacy

Good for Apple, they need to make money SOMEHOW. It's not like they make billions...oh, wait.

This specific issue was on my list of reasons to dump android. gmaps is excellent but it just feels filthy when all these paid results are in the way of where I want to go. Actually does detract from usability in some tight spaces.

Why Apple?
The money you earn from ads must be less then the money you’ll lose from folks leaving your platform because of the ads. You will also lose credibility as a non tracking, privacy first company and also lose repeat customers.

No ads please.
Loose credibility? lol, whats to believe at this point?

I understand that Apple has a responsibility to maximize profit, but when are the engineers going to be allowed to step in and say enough is enough...

The worst part is not even the usability concerns I have for the app. It's the ability for larger businesses to pay to get pushed ahead of smaller ones.

And then to add insult to injury many of the ads are gross and spammy. They also look ‘cheap.’ Apple is heading in the wrong direction on the software and services front. The extra money they’re making now is going to end up costing them.
Well apparently none of Apple stockholders use iOS anyways.

Apple please, next update introduce ads that's interrupting phone calls, that would be amazing.

So, your position is that there should only be Google maps on the market, because they do great already?

No, but now my position is that you like to make assumptions. Maybe if they had done it better than Google, it would not have been as I clearly said - an example of the opposite of how
Apple usually introduces things. I.e. revolutionary rather than a poorly executed copy.

Your assumption is correct though in that I do think we would be better off without Apple Maps. The company is so bloated and we keep saying “gee I wonder why prices keep going up? Must be inflation or supply issues!”

Yeah. No thanks. I hate Google Maps because when you search for something and you see a result that looks close, but it’s an ad and is several miles away. Ads just create unnecessary noise that I have to filter thru

What a bunch of scum bags. I guess the billions they rake in every year isn't enough. The whole appeal of Apple software like this is unbiased results. Tim has eroded Apple so much in the last few years its becoming unrecognizable to anyone that's been around since the beginning.

It will never be enough. Human greed has no limit. People can have a lot and still want more and more and more.
