Sure you can dare to say it. But you could also look back a bit and realise that with Apples BTO steps and prices it would cost just as much as base Studio and hence it would barely sell at all...
In the MBP line, the difference between an 8-core 32GB M1 Pro and a 10-core M1 Max is $500. Even jumping up to the 10-core M1 Pro is still a $300 difference. An 8-core 16GB M1 Pro is about $900 cheaper than the 32GB Studio with M1 Max

I would not expect the price points between a mini spec’d with M1 Pro and a Studio spec‘d with M1 Max to be much different. What that provides is a nice smooth ramp up in price/performance so that buyers can spend as much as they are comfortable with and not have to settle for something cheaper because the incremental price jump was too large.

Sure, but at 1500$ you only have 400$ distance to an M1 Mini with 16/512GB.
Now in these 400$ place the following upgrades:
M1 -> M1Pro binned -> M1Pro "full"
16 -> 32GB

Numbers just don't add up.

No, a hypothetical M1 Pro Mac mini would also have both a 16 GB and 32 GB RAM option (just like the MacBook Pros), meaning pricing would be much, much cheaper than the Mac Studio.

And yes I suspect there would be binned M1 Pros (again just like the MacBook Pros). I'd be more than happy to buy a Mac mini with 16 GB RAM and M1 Pro 8-core CPU / 14-core GPU. (I think you may be underestimating TSMC's yields if you think Apple needs to resort to M1 Pros with 10 GPU cores.)
It sounds like they’re on the verge of making your perfect Mac. And it’ll be really cheap too!

Congratulations!

I very much doubt it would be as expensive as Mac Studio. As a comparison the 14" MBP with 8/14 M1 Pro goes for $1999, and that encompasses a lot more than what the Mac mini consists of. So no mini-LED display, keyboard, 6 way speakers. Also add the part mentioned above with M1 Pro being that much cheaper then a M1 Max. Could sell for $1399.

Dare I say this comparison to Mac Studio is rather a excuse to not create consumer friendly Mac solutions?

I'm sorry, but this has so obviously been the plan all along.

Apple needs recoup investment in M1 chip, so it's been either naivety or click-bait to suggest all these M2 computers this year. Plus, the upgrade cycle for computers is 2x longer what it is for phones.

And for those who are going to point out the A-series gets an update annually, this is only possible because previous generations of chips get sold for years in lower end phone models. (e.g. you can still buy devices with the A10 chip). The Mac has no such model.

I think M# updates will be every 2 years or so.

Yes, but the M series chips are really just A series chips with additional cores (sometimes), overclocking, and other minor tweaks. Apple could easily put the annually updated A chips in Macs, with more power enabled, and call them M series. For that matter, they could have called M1 Pro "M2," called M1 Max "M3," and called M1 Ultra "M4" and we'd be awaiting M5 MacBooks in the next few months. All just marketing names.

Plain M2 MacBook(Air?) and Mini: Sure
Plain M2 iMac: Maybe
M2Pro/Max MBPs: doubt it, early 2023 at best
M2Max/Ultra Studio: either late 2023 or even 2024
Re-reading their post I see that BWhaler probably didn't mean there won't be any M2 Macs this year, but not that many.

As long as the most powerful and highest-quality ultraportable notebook ever made (new MacBook Air 4.0) is still on track for this year ??

It is odd that it seems the M1 Pro is only going to end up in MBPs. There definitely is a gap in the “desktop” line that could have been served with a Higher spec Mini or a lower spec Studio.

I'm pretty sure that if Apple wanted to put an M1/2 Pro into a desktop, they'd put it into a Mac mini. The Studio is so tall because of the massive cooling system that is needed for the M1 Ultra, while the Mac mini wouldn't need to be so big just for an M1. Cooling an M1 Pro should be no problem. Also, Apple could be upselling people to a Studio if they really want/need 4 additional TB ports, a card reader and a high-impedance headphone jack.

I agree, although some people thought that maybe why Apple didn't is because the mini could not handle the cooling for a M1 Pro. That doesn't make sense to me since they put it in the 14" and 16" MBP and the mini has better cooling and even space for more if really needed.

That is very likely. Apple is trying to target selling specific models with this transition in order to say they have completed the AS transition. They were even bold enough during the peek performance event to show a representation of Macs with AS and say the following
Ternus says there's "just one more product to go, Mac Pro, but that is for another day."

Didn't a bunch of us shake our collective heads with that comment? So far 4 laptops models and 3 desktop models with the Mac Pro being the last desktop to join the AS transition. Seems like Apple is cheating IMHO.

Duh! Like who didn’t see that? It would have been really awkward to
launch M2 alongside existing M1 series products. I believe the M2 MacBook Pro will likely be based on the 14 inch chassis, just with cheaper components and less ports: no HDMI, SD card, no Mini LED with two USB C and yes the Touch Bar will be removed. It will of course have the M2 SoC with 8 GBs of LPDDR5 RAM. Likely price 1499 to differentiate it from the MacBook Air.

I don't think anybody was expecting new pros this year to be honest. not long come out and they really don't need upgrading every year. just got my 16 inch MacBook Pro and I can't see myself for 3-5 years at the very least. can't see them adding enough to make it worth upgrading for.

Cheating how?

I am interested in updated MBPs I had hoped for this fall. Maybe an Ultra or similar. However I can still wait. And my father might want to get an M2 air. So I hope this delay is not true or Apple can catch up somehow. Don't they need something "new" for the new university year and the christmas season anyway?
The Ultra Studio weighs two pounds more than the Max Studio because of its heat sink and cooling system. Do you really want a 6.7 pound, 1 1/2“ thick MacBook Pro?
