Wish people would stop sh*tting all over hard working developers and expecting something for nothing.

Nobody here is doing that.

I PAID for the app already, so I am not expecting something for nothing. If they didn't want to go the update route they could have created a "new" App and charged for it .. they did not, they said those who purchased it get the upgrade.

I also logged a ticket with them indicating the problem so they could fix it. Had nobody here voiced their same issue I would have imagined this is only a me problem.

Get off your high horse please.

You might want to read their blog post which explains all their thinking and why they kept the same app.

I’m unaffiliated with Halide but the fact is, whether there’s a temporary glitch or not, they are not charging 1.0 users one dime. Soon enough they will fix this issue and you will get 2.0 for free, for life, as an existing user.

I don't need to read the blog post, I don't really care honestly. My statement was based on your assertion that we are just expecting something for nothing, which is silly because those of us having issues with it paid for it.

You either have issues with their new pricing strategy, or are so unreasonable as to not be able to accept a temporary glitch in their onboarding process which gives existing members 2.0 for free.

Gosh, I looked at Halide yesterday and couldn’t decide whether it was a good deal or not... well it was a better deal yesterday than today ;-)

What is not clear is whether all v1 customers are eligible for an upgrade (there was a base and a premium price if I remember well), and whether they get a permanent licence or one year worth of subscription.

Existing users get 2.0 for free (the lifetime version), and on top of this 1 year for free of the Membership feature, which doesn’t seem to offer much other than an extra icon for now but I think will include tutorials and other new features later.

What is making me seem unreasonable? I stated that it doesn't work, I paid for it, it should work.

That isn't complaining, that is simply stating the facts so that others here also know they are not alone.

I also indicated I submitted a ticket to them letting them know it is not working, that is how developers are notified (sometimes) that things aren't going to plan. I didn't leave a one star view, I didn't come here saying they are trash and all that, I said I was annoyed that my app isn't working.

None of this indicates that I am unreasonable (to me). They will fix it, I know that, I can still be annoyed by the inconvenience .. none of that indicates I am angry at the developers or unreasonable. The fact you're taking so much offense at this is baffling.

they should create new app and do whatever they want with it, not force me to pay for this one after updating!

No idea why you’re getting so incandescent with rage about this - both me and the fact there is a bug in the onboarding process. Why don’t you just calm down?

Like you, I updated to 2.0 and was surprised about my previous purchase not being accepted despite the notes stating existing users go free. A quick check of their Twitter confirmed the bug, no need for a blown gasket or screaming on a forum. Just going to be patient and wait for the (very hard working) devs to fix it, which they will rapidly.

And then enjoy 2.0 for free, forever. Which is really nice of them.

Some people really are so entitled.

You aren’t being forced to pay for anything. As an existing user you are entitled to 2.0 for free. There is a bug in the onboarding process which will be swiftly resolved.

To repeat, no one updating the app will need to pay again.

I’m not sure he has an issue with it but many others definitely do.

So, you get the top of the line iPhone for $1099 minimum with the best camera system yet $30 for an app to take full advantage of the hardware is too much to ask...yeah ok. Give me a break.

Bunch of cheap asses on here who could care less if developers can pay their bills as long as everything is a one time purchase, no more than $10 or just plain free.

And yeah, pros probably aren’t going to buy this app because they have actual high end cameras and lenses but I won’t rip someone to shreds who does.

At this point I can only assume you're here trolling about this, I haven't yelled or been bent out of shape over anything. I don't use twitter and don't plan to anytime soon, so congrats to you going there.

I can't muster anything more than a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for how much you're investing in a response to me. I am not upset, not enraged, nothing.

Avacado toast for two or an outstanding photography app? The haters either literally have no money, or have completely lost perspective.

This is the app I always love to quote when an ill-informed writer says “iPhone can’t do that” if the camera is there, the SOC is there, then the hardware can do it. If the built-in app doesn’t do it is never the same thing as can’t. There is an app for that
sounds like another great effort by a professional development team

They put a ton of work into v1 of this app and it already could do a ton. Can’t wait to see what this new version brings once they get it working.

But hey, someone else on here only thinks it’s worth a dollar...smh.

I think most people getting bent out of shape over the price don't really do much in photography to begin with. For what the original app did $the 8 or so I paid for it was a steal. Getting the continued development is great too. Would I pay $30 for it? I am not sure at the moment, I would need to see the new features and my feeling on that. But $30 isn't much in the photography world anyways.

They’re not charging you if you had Halide before. There is currently a bug that is not allowing Restore Purchase to work. A fix is incoming.

Anyone who paid $8 for it has got 2.0 for free, so the point is moot.

If Halide paid for this article on here then they need to reevaluate that decision. MacRumors is definitely not their target audience based on this thread.
