Damn it the rumours were right. Ugly large lines on the back. Ugly protruding camera lens. If I buy one I'll have to stick it in a bloody leather case like I've done with my 5s. I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to do that as it adds weight and thickness. Thank heavens they've added a few nicer colours.

Yep - you may be feeling alone and lonely.

err I think not. It's easily the ugliest iphone after iPhone 1.

If the back was darker and the antenna bands were black (as it appears to be on the official photos) on the black model it wouldn't look as bad, but its not, it's grey!

I'll still buy one though.

That was such a gorgeous phone. The last great Apple design?

Apple are reminding me of post 90's Mercedes at the moment - they've lost the magic engineering and design feel they had and are being led by the marketing department and bean counters. This is the least impressive "next iteration" announcement from Apple since the 5 for me, they're taking backward design steps each time lately...

I miss my iPhone 4.. I may have even of kept it if the camera lens cover wasn't scratched, hence why I got an iPhone 5 and then jumped ship! but yeah, for me the iPhone 4/ 4S design will remain the best they have made.

Agreed, the 4/4s was the last quality feeling phone from Apple. It just felt and looked like a high tech piece of jewelry.

Apple never said it, as they don't want to upset people.

But...

The 5.5" model MUST be more powerful than the 4.7" model.. No?

And it MUST have a larger battery.. No ?

Both of those things need to be in place to drive the larger screen, more backlight, more pixels to move around.

The CPU/GPU clocked higher?

I would guess, common sense would tell you they have tweaked the speed up on the 5.5" model so it actually performs, graphics wise the same speed at the smaller screen with less pixels, doing this will increase power drain, hence also the need for a larger battery.

That sounds logical does it not?

It will be VERY interesting to see how they both perform on graphics tests.

Biggest waste of real estate - columns and rows of static icons. Pathetic!

That's the problem with apple - you waste 5.5" of space to look just like a 3.5" iPhone screen. Same lame static icons, just 6 rows of icons more.

iOS 8 changes nothing.

I'm going to use an app while you sit and stare at your home screen....

Erm yeah... There's no accounting for taste, so don't be too hard on yourself for having different taste to most :D.

Personally, I like the 5s, but I like the new design too.

There's good taste and there's bad taste.

The design doesn't bother me, but it doesn't blow me away either. It looks kind of ... ordinary, and doesn't stand out like most other Apple products do. But my real issue is this: even the 4.7-inch version is just too damn long. It will not fit comfortably in many jeans pockets. This hands-on comment from Gizmodo confirms what I was worried about:

My only hesitation is that it's still—like previous iPhones—very tall. While that 4.7-inch display is the same diagonal as last year's Moto X, the iPhone 6 stretches out to nearly half an inch taller. I suspect that will end up being a matter of personal preference, but it's still going to be quite a pocket-filler.

I see your point. The 6+ looks potentially like a trade up from my 5c. 128GB storage would be really great and ApplePay could be handy at times. The big question for me is if the music reproduction quality is any better?

If not I'll probably pass since my 5c is used primarily as a telephone (imagine that!) and for listening to music. The 5c's sound quality is is just so so OK. It cannot handle Hi-Def files so I have to maintain a set of real Hi-Def files and another set of iPhone versions.

Sound from my 5c is substantially worse than from my MBP, mini and MP. If the 6+ outputs the same quality as the 5c then it's really better suited for the iTunes "good enough" download crowd.

The hyper-BS language that is used at Apple's affairs is embarrassing. To hear the wild cheering at the announcement that the 6 is slightly thinner than a 5 by tenths of a millimeter brought pictures of mindless, religiously-crazed fanboys who really think that everything Apple says actually means something important.

I miss the days when Steve's hyper-BS was tied to truly innovative computers.

Yeah, the area of their business they seem to pay the least attention to is where their best designs and innovations still are, with computers everyone is copying Apple still.... I friggin love the new Mac Pro, but just find the iPhones now and the iPads meh at best! I got an iPad Mini Retina and don't like it! Will be giving it to the house as it were.. I don't know what has happened to them?

I have no idea, but can't see the music quality being increased if the base models ONLY have 16GB of RAM... I am ignoring the Apple Watch as when in the video on the front page, the women spends 2 minutes hyping up the rubber strap... that to me says it all!

Does anybody know if John Ive had a stroke, got divorced, fell to drugs or something?

Maybe he's losing passion for design, has his mind set on retirement or the "WATCH" took up most of his time and energy, who knows. One thing is for sure though, the iPhone is no longer the most attractive design on the market.

Oh look, metal band with slit lines on the iPhone 4/4S, it even has buttons too.

The 4 was a fantastic design.

There is no getting away from the fact that the 6 is very similar to the Lumia 925.

Not even close to iPad Mini size. Don't imagine it larger than it is. Here's a comparison that should clearly illustrate how much smaller it is than a mini: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ufzp4gowu1sa6xb/AADVfpM7--3jbq-i20B52eXOa?dl=0

Why I want a "phone" that large? First, I hardly ever use the phone part. So I really want a bigger-screen-but-still-pocketable computer that happens to also have phone functionality for the occasional times I need to take or make a call. Personally, I see this as an iPad Mini Mini- all of the great features of the iPad in a pocketable size… with a bonus of full iPhone Phone functionality too. Instead of owning an iPhone AND an iPad Mini, I'm hoping this hits the ideal middle ground and kills 2 birds with one stone.

For some of us, THIS!

I've had a lot of Apple products over the years, but since I only make/receive about 7 phone calls a month, I've been reluctant to pay for an iPhone and the monthly bills that come with it for dedicated service and 3G. I've limped along with a pay-as-you-go flip phone, pay-as-you-go wifi hotspot from WalMart, and an iPod Touch (which I LOVE). I've probably saved $10,000 over the past ten years with this set-up.

The wifi hotspot/iPod combo has been indispensable for getting information and communicating when outside the home. But what a pain to be carrying three devices! I've also been wanting an iPad Mini.

Now comes along the 6+, which is the sweet spot for my needs. I get to replace the three devices I carry with ONE, and have a small tablet in the process. I'll get much better and reliable 3G coverage with the iPhone than I did with the hotspot and I'll finally have GPS. I'll finally be able to justify a monthly Verizon bill, since they have the best coverage in my state by far.

Though not for everyone, the iPhone 6+ will be perfect for me and people with similar needs.

I'm guessing it isn't a good sign when Apple's stock closes lower on the day it announces new products either, right?

On the contrary. It's the perfect time to buy. Apple's stock ALWAYS drops the day of it's product announcements, and then shoot up within a couple weeks.

Haha..To those who thought that leaked iPhone 6 was fake...

Also, the nowhereelse.fr guy was just butthµrt it didn't get leaked to him..

The wallpaper is a default in the GM seed.
Clock hand is tweaked to be longer in the GM seed too..

yeah...these guys feel like idiots now. As I said in every forum 2 days ago that the leak was real deal based on the Live Clock icon...No need for further analysis.

A 5.5 inch phone that does not take advantage of the bigger screen, facepalm Apple.. We can read the internet pages on a 4.7. We can see our pictures on a 4.7. We can do everything on the 4.7, because you do not take advantage of the large 5.5 display. Why?

I do not think that people just wants bigger screens to get bigger screens. People wants bigger screens, because of the features the bigger screen gives you. Where is the possibility to have 2 apps open at the same time on the screen? Where is the possibility to have an app minimized on the screen, while using another. Yes, I know, these are Samsung features, but damn it, thats what the size of the display is for! Taking advantage of it! A pen would be lovely, but I can understand that they do not put that in. But 2 app on one screen and movable icons from a minimized app open on another app is really useful features.

A Note 4 with its pen features with iOS8 and iPhone look would be king! Said in another way, an Apple iPhone 6+ with a pen and real multitasking possibilities would be king.

The 5.5 iPhone is not useful in any way. The 4.7 is easier in the pocket and brings a great size for watching videos, browsing the internet and so on. The 5.5 should take advantage of its bigger screen, it does not. Therefore, it is a useless product, they should just have released the 4.7 if they have no clue of the possibilities with a 5.5 display.

Right... Technically poor, it kills all other phones in single core performance and graphic performance... Has a stellar thougher than others screen, a touch biometric sensor miles ahead of anyone else, etc. A top of the line battery performance. They also got the brightest and best performing screen. Not to mention a top of line camera.

But, hey, that's poor in your book.

Are we just making up random "facts" now?

LOL.

I will be holding off pre-ordering because I have to hold these in person first to decide. Even if it delays getting one the first days. I don't want to regret getting something that large.

You can always cancel or return it.

Not really. OIS on a phone is not going to be a huge deal for most people. And it's like 1 of the two selling points to get the Plus besides the screen size. Not worth the hugeness and extra $100

Think what you want but OIS is actually a huge feature. Also you seemed to forget the fact the Plus has way better battery life.

lol I think the 6+ looks insanley huge. Here's a crude comparison I made with my SGS5 -

14ttyxx.jpg

If you want to compare, do that with the same class of device which is Note 3/4. S5 should be compared with iPhone 6, not 6+.

So in the end, Apple steals the HTC One M8 design and makes it uglier?

Image

First time I think having an android/windows phone that is better looking then the iPhone..

I don't like asymmetrical screen position of HTC 8 and its thickness.
