lol I think the 6+ looks insanley huge. Here's a crude comparison I made with my SGS5 -

14ttyxx.jpg

Well, if you scaled the SG5 to a 5.5” display (vs. 5.1”), it would be ~5mm shorter, but actually a touch (0.4mm wider) that the 6+

I think they’re all the same ballpark, I mean we know Apple is going to use their standard home/TouchID button, and make the top bezel symmetric. :)

I’ve held a SG5, so that’s a handy reference size for THE BEAST :D

Seriously, there are a ton more options in nearly all the high end android lineup of smartphones. You'd expect apple to have more than 8MP offering and OIS limited in the 5.5" model only.

There's absolutely nothing that I am impressed with especially in the camera department in today's announcement. Not even impressed with the watch since it looks awful in person (hands on video) - the square screen has thicker than imagined bezels too and overall just doesn't look good. Sure the promo ads look awesome but in person hands on video shows that it is really ugly.

I expected QHD screen, SIRI that can control your device options, NFC that supports NFC TAGs and apps that can use those TAG commands, more than 8MP camera, HDR VIDEO MODE, 1080p with full sensor zoom (16MP S5 can zoom in using FULL SENSOR MP in video!), voice controls for shutter, I mean the list goes on but I guess most high end android smartphones already do all this but it's an iPhone so whatever last year tech they sport, it's the holy grail

2/10 would not bang iPhone.

Am I the only one that think the iPhone 5S looks much nicer and more "premium" than the 6?

I would have been very satisfied with an iphone 5S design with a 5" screen and slightly thinner.

"I can't help but wish Apple would ease up on its relentless pursuit of thinness in favor of a slightly thicker phone with longer battery life,"

Cant believe the authors of the story said this. But this will be unheard by Apple. And they nailed it.

You are right. I still think the 4s is the best phone Apple ever made.

So in the end, Apple steals the HTC One M8 design and makes it uglier?

Image

First time I think having an android/windows phone that is better looking then the iPhone..

I also think that HTC stole the rear design of the iPhone 5 and put it to the front of their phone so... :)

Anyway could somebody tell us if there is indeed a 6th row of icons or if it is limited to 5 ? because of the display zoom feature i'm not sure it is possible to add a 6th one, can someone confirm pls ?
thanks

Oh look, metal band with slit lines on the iPhone 4/4S, it even has buttons too.

That was such a gorgeous phone. The last great Apple design?

Apple are reminding me of post 90's Mercedes at the moment - they've lost the magic engineering and design feel they had and are being led by the marketing department and bean counters. This is the least impressive "next iteration" announcement from Apple since the 5 for me, they're taking backward design steps each time lately...

Like the look of the iPhone 6 with its 4.7 screen not so sure about the larger iPhone 6 plus will have to see and feel both in the local Apple store before final decisions/verdict.

Also want to see both being drop tested by someone to see which is sturdier as suspect the larger screen will crack easier.

Yes. This is the first time I will wait for reviews and personally using the device before ordering.

Apple should release demos to the store early, if they were smart.

100% agree. Apple is now a reactive company. Copying phone design from Samsung, rushing to announce the iWatch 6 months before release out of fear of competitors.

Love how now people going out of their way to justify having a large phone now that apple made one. This thing is just ugly, the 6 plus is just way to big - it just looks retarded to have something that big up against your head... It was true for android phones it is true for iPhone.

I like how rounded edges and curves are back with Apple now. All the way from the iPhone 4 to the 5S, the edges were angled and not that ergonomic to hold, and it always feels like you don't have a nice tight grip on it. With rounded edges you'll probably get a much nicer feeling holding it in your hand. I like that the whole back is almost made from the same material, thought it's still not as sleek as the glass back of the 4/4S, but I think the roundedness makes up for it. And the rounded screen edges are awesome.

Not a fan of the huge screen sizes though, and it's weird that you can no longer get a "normal" sized iPhone (like the iPhone 4 or even 5), only bigger. Still not sure why people want/need a bigger screen than the iPhone 4, I have a 4S and it doesn't ever feel too small, though I've yet to try a bigger screen. I'd rather it fit nicely in my pocket.

Does anybody know if John Ive had a stroke, got divorced, fell to drugs or something?

Erm yeah... There's no accounting for taste, so don't be too hard on yourself for having different taste to most :D.

Personally, I like the 5s, but I like the new design too.

I'm guessing it isn't a good sign when Apple's stock closes lower on the day it announces new products either, right?

Absolutely, I can see know why they went to all the effort to build a huge structure just to announced a couple of phones and a watch.. desperation, the needed to get all the journalists in to woo them all...

Sorry for going on but good grief these updates are a joke for the money. RIP iPhone 4 is all I have to say, the best one they ever made..

I see your point. The 6+ looks potentially like a trade up from my 5c. 128GB storage would be really great and ApplePay could be handy at times. The big question for me is if the music reproduction quality is any better?

If not I'll probably pass since my 5c is used primarily as a telephone (imagine that!) and for listening to music. The 5c's sound quality is is just so so OK. It cannot handle Hi-Def files so I have to maintain a set of real Hi-Def files and another set of iPhone versions.

Sound from my 5c is substantially worse than from my MBP, mini and MP. If the 6+ outputs the same quality as the 5c then it's really better suited for the iTunes "good enough" download crowd.

The hyper-BS language that is used at Apple's affairs is embarrassing. To hear the wild cheering at the announcement that the 6 is slightly thinner than a 5 by tenths of a millimeter brought pictures of mindless, religiously-crazed fanboys who really think that everything Apple says actually means something important.

I miss the days when Steve's hyper-BS was tied to truly innovative computers.

I really want the 5.5" but I just think it's going to be way to big on a daily basis. I'm not going to be able to try them out before I pre-order one on Friday. Decisions....
