Hands-On With an iPhone 8 Dummy Model

I don't think apple will release something as hideous as these mock-ups. This frame around the device...it already looks like a device from years past and gone. Samsung's and Huawei's current top-end devices look much better.

Hope these mock-ups fall far from the truth.

I think the mock-up would go very well alongside my Powermac G4!

Agree. After 4 years spoiling the planet with those huge bezels, now it is no bezels at all - getting themselves in all kinds of trouble. Why the hell that ugly center/topbar - that better could be stretched out to full width, to avoid all kinds of menubar issues and unnecessary iOS version dispersion.
Why always this Seat-thinking when you consider yourself a Porsche/Audi and can easily buy 200 design bureaus to create something attractive...
(did Joni return from still playing nice with his trees and doorknobs, did he retire, is he with his family, if he has one, or on celeb tour/collecting rewards again ?)

You do realize that you are getting your panties in a twist about a "rumored" design and dummy?
With all your answers about what the design should be like, it is very clear that you should apply at Apple to take over Jony's place immediately!
Finally, if you don't like: DON'T BUY!, but we all know you will....., so much for .........
 
I want an entirely seamless transparent phone. Of course it would be non-servicable, but it would be awesome, and very rugged. It's not like they service these things anyway. You would just replace it. The components would be embedded in the material; like a bug in amber. Not sure about the 'totally' part, but it will happen, probably.

So what are you going with? iPhone 8, 8 Plus, 8 Pro? Also, just curious as to when you think it will become the Apple Phone vs iPhone, if ever? :apple:
 
Let's all pray this is nothing like the final design. Non symmetrical screen ratios annoy the hell out of me. That stupid little notch on the top looks hideous.

For once I wish Apple copied Samsungs S8 design, so much better.

Uh, first off the term 'gay' is not meant in the term most people with their panties in a bunch think of it but rather a term that is more along the lines of dumb as defined by my generation which never got offended. This particular situation in where I used this term in this context cannot be misconstrued as a homosexual derogatory comment because a situation cannot be of alternative persuasion. Yes, I understand in today's politically correct world where everyone gets a sad face and gets hurt by a comment is the new "normal", but I use that very term all the time and also to the actual gay friends I have (as defined in the dictionary.)

Question, how am I a hater? Hater of the phone or hater of the gay community because I am neither. Please clarify. I DO however hate mockups etc. That's just dumb. (Yes I used dumb so as not to offend you again lol)

I know what you are saying but it isn't like there are many other options... Apple only offers one model without the camera wart. I'd be happier if the phone were slightly thicker to reduce/eliminate the camera wart... that extra space could accommodate a bigger battery. But I guess the market demands "thinner".
 
Apple hasn't gone anywhere near their best model of iPhone which was the 3GS. That thing was and still is a beast! I still have one, now used as an iPod touch but man, it could be thrown off a building and still function at 100%! If it weren't for built in obsolescence, I'd still be using it. Also, going back to iOS 6 on that thing makes me realize how much better it was than the current ugly atrocity in use today. Granted, an OS needs to grow for functionality but for example, the keyboard in iOS 6 was easier to use and was more precise for example and the overall look and feel of 6 still, in my opinion blows away the current version of iOS. How many of you hit the dang "B" button when going to press the space bar???? The keys are too cramped on there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't 6 the last OS steve had a hand in and the iPhone 4 the last he touched before dying? Everything since he died has felt very, let's say, commercial and financially friendly to Apple and not user friendly as much.

What do you guys think about my above opinions?
 
new here, but wanted to put in my own $.02

I switched from Microsoft and Samsung to Apple and have been happy. Although I do like the product, am a consumer and if a company does not give me a competitive product, am happy to change.

Still hate Microsoft, but admittedly am seeing less excited as new product appears. Yes, I do have an iPad, MacBook Pro, Watch and iPhone, but if this is the new design am very disappointed as I just saw the new Samsung and it looked very clean frankly I thought it was very Steve Jobs clean. Nice lines, nice form and just clean.

Did not upgrade to the new iPad, didn't see any value for me. Faster processor, faster graphics, but for my use that is bells and whistles. If it was a no bezel look for my client presentations, now that would have been something to think about.

Guess will see what it looks like, but if it looks anything like this, its an easy, do not upgrade for me. It is nice though, as it allows me to not upgrade and save cash.

I had a friend tell me that he has switched to thinking about an upgrade by skipping one generation and then looking at it. From my observation that seems to be good advice

I'm not concerned as this model design doesn't appear to be worth getting too excited about. It's okay but not inspirational. I prob won't upgrade unless something breaks and I have to.

I don't understand why, with a white micro bezel, the notch has to be blacked out? Hopefully, it will be solid white like it is now with just black cutouts to accommodate cameras/earphone etc. That I could live with. The black trapezoid on top looks absolutely aweful. It's a deal breaker for me.

That is so not what i would call "edge to edge" screen. Its still a besel on it. And the side besels other manufacturers have removed completely. This looks kinda ugly with the besel tbh.
