I don't think you can offend
@GrumpyMom over her phone preferences, she is a fairly experienced and a knowledgeable forum member on here with Samsung and Apple alike (And one nice lady might I add). This is a good point to make about what she was saying earlier, everybody has different preferences and appreciations with the contrast on how the iPhone will look. But one thread on a tech website isn't indicative with the millions of iPhone users who may differ otherwise. It's really a to each their own preference.
Aww thanks! Yeah, it's hard to offend me, and definitely not over phone preferences. There are too many serious problems in the world to squabble about something so trivial.
Anyway, getting back to the possibilities of White notched fronts,
@Sunny1990 -- well the reason I like them is that there's nothing else like them as far as I've seen. They stand out to me in a positive way.
Yes, the black looks really slick and blends beautifully. I definitely enjoy that look as much as you do.
But I actually got converted to thinking differently about these white fascias over on the Samsung thread in the Alternatives to IOS section of this forum.
There were leaks that indicated the S8 and S8+ had been prototyped with white fascias along the top where all the sensors are embedded. At the time, those of us on the Android thread had pretty negative reactions, too, like some of the folks on this thread.
But one of the other forum members sort of talked me around to seriously contemplating the possibility and how unique it could be. After exchanging some fun and friendly banter, I awoke to the fact I kind of liked the idea of white fronts on these Edge-to-edge displays. But I still think it could have looked weird on the Samsungs. The overall shape of the phone has so many curves that would have clashed with any element that might stand out as much as a white face would have. On the iPhone, however, I think it looks kind of cool and fun and "in your face", like their old cute jellybean iMacs:
For so long, we've been used to Apple products looking slick and sleek and thin. We might have buried the memory of a more playful side of Jony and Apple, before he became so solemn looking like he is these days.
And the thing is, to me it still also looks sleek and attractive on the back and sides. For those who must have sleek and chic, the all black model does offer that.
Of course these are dummy models I'm evaluating. I'm still seeing all these weird renders coming out by the minute. So, who knows?
