Im hoping they go with black notch on white front, ive merged Martin Hajeks amazing 3D renders for white and black fronts to give it a black "notch".

I think Apple have gone for the notch to give the phone visual identity with the loss of the home button...

I would be honest with you i too like white front, all my iPhones had white front before i switched to Matt black iPhone 7 and i don't think there is anything wrong with not having white front. Both fronts looks nice with their given color combinations. I like both and i am currently using a iPhone 7 Plus in Red color which also has white front. Again nothing wrong.

Unfortunately the case with iPhone 8 is that cutout on the top with white front looks disturbing and out of place with the black display to me. I have shown this render here before, which i would like to share it here again and this will be good idea if Apple come up with the blackened top cutout like this. This will blend in with display better even though the overall front will be white.

Yes i will buy both. The reason i will buy 4.7 model is that I have exchanged my current iPhone 7 with my brother's iPhone 7 Plus which he bought recently in Red Color. Now i have two iPhone 7 Plus's [Black/Red]. So i don't need another Plus iPhone this year. I will rather pick smaller.

No doubt Galaxy s8 are one of the best looking phone in the market right now in my Opinion. But unfortunately i have never used Galaxy "S" series, so i can't comment on curved edge display. No offense but i simply stick with iOS and the iPhone 8 won't have curved edge to edge display, it will be flat with 2.5 d curved glass on side's like current models.

I also had that idea for the cutout and front on a white iphone 8. It would look great.

Apple doesn’t need a gold/brownish back this way.
Just make one with the shiny gold sides and the white front (with the black cutout) and a white back, same goes for the silver version.
BUT.... please, please.....give us an entire white one like the ceramic apple watch edition.

I want an iphone 8 stormtrooper edition!

I'm becomine more and more convinced that this is the look of the iPhone 8.... but I'm also becoming increasingly convinved that the 7S does not exist. I simply do not believe Apple will split the iPhone line into three; 7S/7S+/8

It's not gonna be called 8. It's ridiculous that even a month before the announcement every single outlet is referring to this model as iPhone 8. Makes me wonder what will happen next year when the actual iPhone 8 is due.

Am I the only one that's concerned with the timeline here? There have been no less than 10 leaks that Apple is having production issues, and that there are high defect rates, and that they are having difficulties with certain features, etc... and now the rumor says they're going into mass production amid all of these rumors? A bit scary... especially given Apple's track record with issues in software\hardware.

Not worried. There have been reports they are on schedule, reports that they aren't. It's the same every year. Gotta preorder early if you want the first batch.
[doublepost=1502449899][/doublepost]I love the look of it. The notch is growing on me and definitely makes the design standout from the competition. I do expect all of the front's to be black though as it makes the screen seem that much larger. Also, there will be no 7s. As someone else mentioned, 8, 8 Plus, and 8 Pro or just iPhone, iPhone Plus, and iPhone Pro. Numbers are getting silly and it's better they don't play that game with Sammy any more. I'll be preordering the second they become available.

They will drop the numbers, just iPhone, iPhone Plus, and iPhone Pro.

I don't think you can offend @GrumpyMom over her phone preferences, she is a fairly experienced and a knowledgeable forum member on here with Samsung and Apple alike (And one nice lady might I add). This is a good point to make about what she was saying earlier, everybody has different preferences and appreciations with the contrast on how the iPhone will look. But one thread on a tech website isn't indicative with the millions of iPhone users who may differ otherwise. It's really a to each their own preference.
Aww thanks! Yeah, it's hard to offend me, and definitely not over phone preferences. There are too many serious problems in the world to squabble about something so trivial.

Anyway, getting back to the possibilities of White notched fronts, @Sunny1990 -- well the reason I like them is that there's nothing else like them as far as I've seen. They stand out to me in a positive way.

Yes, the black looks really slick and blends beautifully. I definitely enjoy that look as much as you do.

But I actually got converted to thinking differently about these white fascias over on the Samsung thread in the Alternatives to IOS section of this forum.

There were leaks that indicated the S8 and S8+ had been prototyped with white fascias along the top where all the sensors are embedded. At the time, those of us on the Android thread had pretty negative reactions, too, like some of the folks on this thread.

But one of the other forum members sort of talked me around to seriously contemplating the possibility and how unique it could be. After exchanging some fun and friendly banter, I awoke to the fact I kind of liked the idea of white fronts on these Edge-to-edge displays. But I still think it could have looked weird on the Samsungs. The overall shape of the phone has so many curves that would have clashed with any element that might stand out as much as a white face would have. On the iPhone, however, I think it looks kind of cool and fun and "in your face", like their old cute jellybean iMacs:

For so long, we've been used to Apple products looking slick and sleek and thin. We might have buried the memory of a more playful side of Jony and Apple, before he became so solemn looking like he is these days.

And the thing is, to me it still also looks sleek and attractive on the back and sides. For those who must have sleek and chic, the all black model does offer that.

Of course these are dummy models I'm evaluating. I'm still seeing all these weird renders coming out by the minute. So, who knows?

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. The black notch on the silver phone. Looks damn good!

If Steve was still alive and saw the black thing around the cameras on the white model he would probably bitch slap Tim Cook
I think that may be so that the flash does not cause undue flare or glare. I've had many iPhone cases over the years and some of them caused horrible problems with glare and haze from the flash unless I returned and exchanged for a black case.

I have to think there's a practical reason for the black, because otherwise it does clash with the overall look to have that section black on the light colored phones.
[doublepost=1502452620][/doublepost]Mawhaha, The Great Mystical Egg of tech news, Home Pod, apparently revealed another bit of news to that developer in Brazil. You can silence notifications with a glance thanks to facial recognition. I just saw that in The Telegraph.

I remember seeing so many iPhone 4's with cracked back (and front) screens. Not sure I'd like glass backs unless they can withstand a drop

Agree it won't be the the 8. But I also wonder if there will ever be an 8. I think numbering is going away just as it seems to have with the iPads other than mini and also Macs have never been numbered.

Anyone else a bit confused why they didn't go true edge to edge and still left prob the industries biggest bezzel on the sides and stuff? I mean they are using oled so why not?

I think they want a tiny bit of bezel for usability and there is no point to the curved screens at the edge. I mean the screen has to go somewhere, right?

if Steve alive
we would not have any iPhone bigger that 4"

No. Jobs had a pretty good record of being adamantly against something until the moment he was absolutely for it. He'd say an MP3 player was terrible because it didn't have a screen... until Apple released a music player w/o a screen. He'd say DVD-ROM was the future and DVD-R was a dead end until he announced the first PowerMac with a DVD-R and Apple branded DVD-R blanks. Plenty of other examples.

But Steve wasn't being wishy-washy. It was just that new facts, ideas were presented to Jobs, or brainstormed by him, to change his mind. Steve understood that you have to bend to the marketplace even as you are aiming to get the marketplace to bend to you. Steve wasn't 100% inflexible as folklore would have it. He understood you have to bend sometimes or you break.

If you mean like Samsung's treatment -- because it's ugly and that extra few mm on the edge is useless. Thank the Lord they didn't go that route. The white unibrow is enough to take in.

Unless you have fat hands, this is a troll post.

Nope. It’s like you have to hold it in a specific way, kind of like flat in your hand like a pancake to avoid unintentionally pressing things, at least for me. Not all of the time, but mainly when you’re stretching with your thumb to reach a certain area on the screen. I posted some proof in my post above, I’m not one of those people who pretends to own products just for the sake of trashing them.

For further proof, here’s a review I posted on Amazon, at least 47 people found it helpful anyway. Excuse the funny name, I have a habit of using them rather than my own. Note it says “verified purchase”;
