Well I’d like to get the adapter replaced, that was literally being sold until last year for what it’s worth. I wouldn’t have as big of an issue if they included an adapter in the box, but Apple decided to go down this path.

Apple's own website said you get 14W charging with 27W or higher power adapters. They had no caveats or anything.
Apples just gonna replace it with another 29 W that doesn’t work properly with this product, but feel free to waste your time

Then I'll ask if I can open it and test it in front of them. Then when that doesn't work and I point to their website that says "Recommended– 27W or higher USB-C Power Adapter (sold separately) for faster wireless charging up to 14W", maybe they'll try out the 30w one.

Look, I can just use the 18w adapter I already have. But I have a 29w adapter and apple says I can get 14w charging speeds with it, so they have to make this right.

Good luck, but i’ve never had an experience with Apple where they replaced an old product with a new version, no matter how small the differences.
I once had a defective Apple TV remote, and I was actually talking to the people there, and they could’ve gotten it replaced that day, in the store, if I had the remote with the circle around the menu button. But because I bought my Apple TV before they added that little circle, they had to ship me an identical remote, even though the only difference is that it didn’t have the circle.
If they’re going to be so stupid over such a small difference, I highly doubt they’re gonna replace your 29W with a 30W. but again, I really hope they do. I agree with you that you should get the best experience.
USB-C, and all these different standards of voltages and wattages have been getting absolutely out of control.
USB-A may have been big, and nonreversible, and slow, but at least you knew that if you plug something into it, 99% of the time it would work.
USB-C, and all the adapters and standards that have came along with it, are Way more hit and miss.

I think reviewing this without having a cable+brick attached and talking about how sleek it is, is a bit disingenuous.

Even as a travel accessory, you need the cable and the power adapter anyway. Basically, the only net difference is that instead of a watch cable you bring this device, which seems massive in comparison. Especially when taking into account that the watch charges in an hour and doesn't need charging every day.

The money is much better spent on a two-port charger, so you can also charge your macbook or iPad when needed and really just have a second cable attached instead of this silly thing.

First of all, the regular Apple Watch charger sucks. I’m constantly losing it, it’s falling behind desks or dressers, or it doesn’t stay connected to the watch at all. And the standalone Apple Watch dock is 80 bucks, so that’s a little high just for a single Apple Watch charger dock.
Secondly, especially when I’m traveling with my family, we have a lot of cables. Getting rid of some of those cables can really help.
Thirdly, I don’t know what Apple Watch you have, but I have a series 5, and it never lasts me longer than a day. The rest of my family also has series fives, and none of them last us any longer than a day.

I dont think the problem is ONLY the price, its just that there is nothing that cool or excting about this product that makes me want to buy it.

I would be willing to spend low 100s for a legitimately cool charging solution by my bedside. For this to be worth it (imo) it has to be somewhat of a smart device in and of itself. Something that can integrate the always on face of the watch to function as a nightstand clock with a potential future always on face of an iphone to create a dual display system for cool always on widgits including but not limited to: tomorrows calendar, digital picture frame mode, cool weather app integrating visuals and sounds of nature "meditation" feature, and other cool/useful widgits in its own mini app that you need to have the base charging station for.

It would be up to the hardware engineers to design something that would both have such smart features yet also be convenient and aid in travel. Magic nightstand that goes wherever you go, etc. Perhaps this is a whole different product in itself but IMO thats what a $150 products looks like in my mind.

If they had made it just a bit cheaper and included the charging brick, then it would be a definite buy for me, I need 4 of these to replace my families 4 Apple Watch Chargers and 4 iPhone chargers. 8 things in a travel bag get tangled so easy not matter how hard I try to for basic cord management.
I was wanting a Duo until I saw the ridiculous price, at which point I grabbed one of these and it's worked great so far.

Anker should take note it uses usb-c. Anyone that uses a solo loop, sport loop or link bracelet will be unhappy, though. Also, note it does not include the adapter.

That price though....

I actually really like the product, and I think it’s compact and sleek enough where it’s not too large and obtrusive. But where Apple is coming up with $129 for this is beyond me. Even if they charged around $80-ish, I probably would be more on board. But this is just not practical enough at $129 when the competition is half the price and can execute some of the same functionality. (And this is coming from someone that exclusively only uses Apple products, so if that tells you something that I wouldn’t purchase this at that price.)

The fact when you pick up your phone it brings up the charger and chargers slower means it isn’t worth it
so you didnt saw the video..its clearly easy to take the iphone without the pad
but i love see people all the time complaining ....i hope in the future there will not be a law that says you are forbidden to complain about something because i guess a lot of people would go into hospitals madness :))

I really like the product...but for a non watcher person, its irelevant...too bad they could not make the watch stand to be a second charger

So if you want to pick up your phone while your watch is also charging, the watch could potentially get thrown off on the ground?

i used wireless charging on my XS Max every night and the Heat totally ruined the battery. It’s battery health is worse than on my even older 7 Plus at this point. I’ll stick to wired charging on my 12 Pro

My apologies if this was meant in humor, but seriously, how many people own two iPhones that they need to charge at the same time?

So you want a niche product? Well here you go: the MagSafe Duo*

*literally, it’s just two MagSafe chargers but with one lightning cable to connect them. Can’t innovate my *$$.

This is not an issue. Watch the video. Dan doesn’t perform any gymnastics with his fingers to lift his iPhone. He just lifts it up.

Been using wireless charging for my XS for two years. Still well into the 90 percentile of battery health. There might be more factors at play that contributed to the battery degradation on your XS Max than just wireless charging.

it picks up the charger when you pick your phone is stupid. Should have less metal inside the charger so the phone doesn't pick it up. this will be used on a desk so no need for such a strong magnet like the magsafe puck.

It doesn't. Has not happened to me once. It's easily removed onehanded.
Just lift it up, like you would remove a magnet from the wall. (slightly turn it while lifting)

I have to say, I really liked the idea of this when they first showed it, and I really like the design and simplicity of it.

It just feels like this was meant as a travel charger or something, but with COVID they didn’t want to talk about it in that regard this year.

Would have loved if it was a bit bigger and sturdier for true bedside charging.
Absolutely. This is something I would use purely for travel purposes, it’s not something I would want on display in my home.

Jeeze I didn’t realize this was so flimsy. Kind of disappointing. Not containing everything you need to use it? Totally expected.

Am I the only person that uses their phone all day then charges it at night while I sleep? I feel like I am listening to these comments. It can charge as slow as it wants while I sleep as long as it’s full when I wake up. 🤷🏻‍♂️
You describe a world of people who have this scenario; you forget to mention the world of people could use any $10 Qi charger to achieve that.

The fact that this thing is twice the price of the two cables separately and doesn’t come with the proper power adapter because of “environmental reasons” should put people off. Don’t buy it and Apple won’t try this sh*t again.

Personally for me paying £129 for this, makes it a no brained to wait and get the Boost Charge Pro for £149.99, a more solid bed side charger that charges 3 devices at one instead of just 2.

I think Apple are not in the frame of mind to compete in the wireless charger market, as they expect it being an ‘official’ charger to clinch the sales for them.

yep mine is always on about 20-30% at the end of the day so this charger is ideal certainly when people can travel again. nobody really wants to take more than 1 cable.
