Could those posters complaining about the price please explain?

Price including a high end 24" monitor seems reasonable. Macs will never be "cheap" but this doesn't seem particularly expensive. Entry price is $1300, which for the main target market is likely plenty adequate without further upgrades.
A lot of the complainers on the price want to see the same price but with 512GB SSD and 15 GB RAM. They seem to think that people other than them can't use a computer with less. It is the same ole MR rhetoric.

I'll take the old Thunderbolt displays and cinema displays over this any day.
I have 4 Thunderbolt displays . They get the job done.
No need to spend 6 grand for Apples current high end monitor offering.

The backs look pretty cool, but I’m not a fan of any of the pastel chins and given that I don’t live in an open floor work space, why should I care what color the back is? Just give me back my space grey option please. Silver is boring.

I can distinctly recall when the iMac Pro came out with space gray there wasn't a single complaint about that color. I can't think of anyone who wanted a brighter looking iMac. Even people that didn't even need Xeons and that level of power had the space gray as one of the selling points to justify the price just because we couldn't get it on the regular models.

No question Apple is saving this for their larger iMac reveal.

My experience with the M1 Mac Mini: just awful. wifi, bluetooth and headset/audio issues galore (some might of been third party software). But none the less, not an apple experience at all. I'm going to wait until those three issues are rock solid. Also the 1 hdmi (2160p max) and 1 thunderbolt monitor max was also too restrictive for my taste, on the mac mini.

I find these new iMacs very ugly. There’s just too much going on with the dark colour, pastel colour and white. It’s not about white vs. black bezels. It’s not even really about the two tone. It’s just too much. It would look much better with an ALL white front or ALL dark or light colour front. As it is it’s just a mess… in every colour except silver.

I think it's too bad it doesn't look like the render MacRumors has been using for iMac related articles up until its reveal.

Oh your gawd… that's really ugly!

SJ is rolling in his grave, muttering something about "tasteless".

They removed the MiniSD card slot from previous generations. Let me guess, those slots will only be on "Pro" Macs from now on?

The dumb thing Apple doesn't realize... is that... a typical $1600 iMac is something that many many Mac users use as an archive and a "backup" for their iPhone photos, iTunes and other data, their Nikon DSLR images, etc. Sure, there is also iCloud. But the Mac (with its terrabytes of storage) is a very convenient place to back up everything from your portable devices, digital and analog cameras, etc. It's also the place where serious photo/video editing happens once you transfer photos from your cameras and phones.

By removing the card slots, they made it less "photography-friendly". Oh right, but someone is going to tell me "Oh but you can just buy a dongle/adapter!"

This is the first time in 20 years that an iMac revamp happens without the father of the iMac's iconic design, Jony Ive.

And it's certainly not going well.

Why is the chin a different shade of orange to the stand? How did such a clash of colours get the go ahead??
