Not sure if people replied to this yet, but

iPhone still unlocks if you click the home button once to wake up the display. The same exact problem still exists. I don't know why people think this is fixed.

But once you raise the phone to wake it up, wouldn't you just rest your finger over the Touch ID to unlock the phone without pressing it?

Raising the phone to wake up the display takes care of the complaint that the Touch ID speed to unlock the phone was happening too quickly missing whatever notifications you had on your lock screen.

I think it's dumb that "Raise to Wake" is exclusive to M9 devices. What about the M9 makes it a requirement over the M7 or M8?

Because the way they made the M9 chip, it allows the chip to always be on without using to much battery, the M8 and M7 can't always be on, and therefore can't sense when you pick up your phone.

As a number of people have mentioned, I always thought the whole point of a lock screen was, you know, that you had to unlock the device before you could do stuff like read and reply to messages and emails and stuff. Just wait, in iOS 11 you will be able to see your credit card details, and use Apple Pay right from your lock screen, no touch ID required. Just raise to wake and off you go. So convenient.
You can already disable all this in the settings menu.

I can already use quick reply in iOS 9 and I recognize and accept that this is a conscious tradeoff between convenience and security. No one is forcing you to make that tradeoff if you aren't comfortable with it.

It would have been better if we could customize how we want to unlock and get camera out or widget. No everybody is gonna like it.

Agree completely. The lock screen swipe left/swipe right gestures should be customisable.

Some people will want swipe to unlock.

Not to mention, currently, passcode protects us from accidental pocket swipes unlocking the device. Now there will be no protection against the same scenario activating the camera.

That is really interesting stuff. I like the widgets page, it's sort of like they reversed Android. On Android you have widgets on the home screen(s) and an app drawer with icons. Where it looks like iOS 10 has the widgets on the left swipe screen, but keeps its home screen(s) as a kind of app drawer. Now I'm curious how functional iOS widgets are versus Android ones. Can I swipe through a unified email inbox? Can I swipe through all my text messages? Can I get a live video feed?

The other thing that I find fascinating is Apple opening up VoIP for developers. My dream is that one day Google Voice will natively work with iOS. I know it's a pipe dream, but one can hope. That's the one thing that's a huge deterrent to me using iOS, how crappy Google Voice is on it.

Good stuff, if Apple gets rid of how comically yet sadly huge their bezels are on the ip7 I may consider going back to iOS.

It's going to be weird for some people who already got used to certain way...hopefully customizing would help them adapt better.

It's all about the Touch ID being so quick. Touch ID on M7 and M8 devices is much slower that on M9. Partly it doesn't make sense because the the Touch ID on the iPhone SE is just as slow as on the iPhone 6 and 5S

Raising the phone to wake up the display takes care of the complaint that the Touch ID speed to unlock the phone was happening too quickly missing whatever notifications you had on your lock screen.

Depends on the use case.

The only time the super fast Touch ID annoys me now is when I check my phone when I wake up in the morning - I leave the phone on my bedside table and hit the home button to wake up the phone to check the time, time remaining on my snooze alarm and any notifications, and it's always instantly taken to my home screen.

Raise to wake won't change this for me, because it requires me to lift the phone up. Using the power/lock button also doesn't work because it requires you to hold the phone in your hand while pressing it.

The only way to address the issue in my scenario is to use a finger that's not registered for Touch ID to wake up my phone - which I never remember to do as I'm half asleep!

How about a 'turn off all notifications' button instead of having to go through every single app in the list one at a time?

Lock screen notifications are not my cup of tea.

A full width bar to turn Flux NightShift in control center, but we still have to rummage through two menu levels to turn on low power mode? This seems wasteful.

Not a fan of losing slide to unlock. Thanks to my otter box, most of the time Touch ID doesn't work immediately, and using slide to unlock and then my passcode works faster.

So currently I get an iMessage and I swipe right to open and read it from the lock screen. It takes me directly to the message and I can reply. Same method applies for an email. I guess that won't be happening anymore...

Actually you can still do it I just tried (installed the beta). If you right swipe on an item it will open the app directly instead of swiping to the widget's screen

There is going to be rich notifications for all devices soon, just that it's limited to 6s for now... Other features I'm not so sure

I'm not a fan of how Widgets are now available in only two places, the left of the lock screen and the left of the home screen. Before, I could access widgets from anywhere on the device through Notification Center. This is what made them useful, the ability to see them from anywhere.

Widgets will essentially be useless for me if I have to exit the app I am using to see them. I really hope that they change this.

Hold up... so I will no longer be able to pull down the shade and select one of my app shortcuts from the Launcher widget? If so, that SUCKS... I use that all the time when driving...

EDIT: Ok, so I would have to pull down then swipe right? That still suxx.

You definitely can, you just have to swipe right first, when it shows either no notifications or missed. The only time this doesn't work is in the home screen, you have to swipe all the way right.

Yeah sorry, just read that and updated my post. Still not happy about having to swipe... The extra step almost defeats the purpose of the "shortcut".
