I quite enjoy my "new" 3DS XL with Pokemon Sun and Monster Hunter while I am on the bus/train/plane or at a coffee shop. I hope Nintendo can continue to make dedicated portable consoles because they can provide a full game experience on the go. However, I wouldn't be surprised Nintendo may head to a different direction in the future.

Smartphone games are not great at this point, beside few good ones.

The problem with smartphones is you can tack on some of the functionality with external controllers, but nobody buys those - creating a perpetual chicken and egg problem for developers. The breadth and depth of the 3DS library will simply never exist on the iPhone.

Also: The 3DS has something iOS never will - a culture of consumers willing to pay $20-$30 for a game.

It really worries me when people say paying $9.99 for a game is extortionate. I paid more than that for a bottle of diet coke and a packet of crisps this morning! Yet you refuse to pay that for months or years of game development?! Ok..... How do you expect the gaming industry (or even the app industry come to that) to move forward if you can't pay decent developers to make good software. I'd much rather pay a $9.99 upfront cost rather than have ads dropped all over me at every opportunity.

subpar Starbucks holiday spice coffees with GMO corn syrup and preservatives run up to $10, release free radicals go down your urethra and exits your body or $10 on good sandwich with high nitrates and cholesterol that turns to poop, but people have mindset $5 maximum for a mobile game that is developed for year. doesn't matter how many man hours you put into it you price to what market allows for

This would be 49.99 on WiiU so can't understand the complaints.

It's like two beers. For a game with many hours of gameplay. I am a bit worried that they will charge for more levels later on.

I'm confused... what did you get for finishing the game, if that's your reason for playing? What makes sprinting through the levels worth it, but collecting the challenge coins not worth it?

Exactly, what did I get for finishing the game?

I wanted more, challenge, story, sense of accomplishment.

I'm a gamer, I had more fun recompleting some game than playing this one...

maybe you're just special and incredibly gifted when it comes to gaming. give yourself a nice pat on the back.

 <that's you; super cool!

It's definitely a high quality, fun game. Totally worth $10 and it's refreshing to play a great game that isn't saddled with BS F2P mechanics, grinding, timers, etc.

I've only put in 15 minutes but I already love it.

They made a game you can play one-handed and where you can be distracted for a second or two and probably not die because of it.

It's not just a Mario game, it's a really solid mobile device game.

This is why in general mobile games are so dire. Casual audiences who can't stay off their mobile phones but also do not want to pay attention to what they are doing on them.

The game is £7.99
The game does nothing new
The game is shocking

End of.

The game is great value at £7.99 - Ive been playing for nearly 3 hours and am only on world 3!

The game does plenty new! I cannot recall any other Mario gain where he runs on his own and it also lets you build your own kingdom!

The game isn't shocking - in fact its the complete opposite. Its easy to play, addictive and most of all fun!

I've been playing Mario games for about 25 years now and this is just as much fun as the others :p

The demo of World 1 and Rally is fun but I do not think the game is worth $10 since I could likely beat the entire game in 45 mins. I'll wait until it's $1-2. :)

Sorry, but looks way too dumbed down for my taste. What skill is required? That ain't Mario to me...

Since the first three levels are free, I encourage you to try getting all the challenge coins on them. I think you'll find out what skill is required, particularly when you get to the black coins.
This. If you liked New Super Mario Bros for the challenge of completing everything you'll like SMR. It's got the same feeling, only now it's more challenging as you can easily go backwards (it's possible in a limited sense).

I like it but not enough to pay $10 dollars for it and to only be able to use it online. Cut the price to $5.00 and have it only need to phone home once a week and I'd buy it.

It was pretty disappointing for me. It was just not mario. It felt like a mario clone over a generic runner. If you want mario game play check out super cat tales.
Super, Mario, Run...
[doublepost=1481932309][/doublepost]I bought the game. I like it! Worth the $10. I don't understand all the complaining. The game gets harder after World 1. When you unlock all of the courses, then you start perfecting them and compete with your friends. That's the point. And you're not paying-to-cheat. We've already established that mobile phone gaming is a different breed than mobile console gaming. Ya'll want the classics, go buy a 3DS and spend $5 on each classic game you want. They were meant to be played with physical buttons not a touch screen.
