Do we really need a 'hands-on' for a clear case?
i remember couple of months ago someone here asked if Genius bar will help them install a case on their new phone.....I dont believe that person was trolling......

Why is everyone suddenly outraged about the price of their cases? They have always been $40 for silicone and $50 for leather. This isn't new....

Outrage? People are criticizing and poking fun at the price. I didn’t know that was was against the rules. The criticism is well justified imo for what they are charging especially when the case is compared to third party alternatives. In Canada the cost of this minimal plastic case is roughly 5% of the price. Unreal.

Spigen or Otterbox.. and why does Apple hate to protect the bottom of its phones?

I agree. I never understood that either. Didn't they cover the bottom for the iPhone 5s?

Anyway, I got my wife a Caudabe Lucid Clear for her XR that does cover the bottom. Couldn't be happier. Definitely doesn't yellow either in our past experience.

I actually prefer the "unprotected" style Apple makes, as it's easier to swipe up without hitting the edge of the case over and over again.

Yes, I agree the price is high, but Apple isn't forcing anyone to buy it.

As an alternate:
I paid 1 yen + 300 yen delivery for my soft, clear case for my Max and you can do the same for any smartphone.

I agree with Apple Wes re the opening at the bottom as it's easier to swipe up. I don't like that about my case.

Just bought my first clear case for my white XR. I got the Totallee. In a few months I might wish I'd gotten the white case but I wanted to try something different.

I will say this, the last case I purchased was a black Apple case with that soft interior for my iPhone 7 and I really liked it. Saved my phone from two terrifying drops.

It was explained in the video. Gestures. As long as it is raised and not able to come in contact with a surface... What does it really matter?
Because it does! First of all gestures is a BS excuse because my 6 Plus had the same design and had no gesture area anywhere near the bottom edge of the display. Also the iPhone relies heavily on swipe back from the edge gestures and those work fine with an edge covering. Second of all if you drop it and it lands on the side on the bottom it cracks or otherwise damages the display and housing. I scratched up my 6 Plus cover glass this way and dented the side a little, fortunately not cracking it. We were staying at my wife's grandfather's house in the country. They had a small sink and I had my stuff on the sink and my iPhone on the side. The iPhone got bumped off the counter and that bottom edge hit the weight scale on the floor on the metal rim. If I had practically any other case in existence on at that time, it wouldn't have happened. But no, Apple feels like it doesn't need to have protection around the entire outside and so they don't do it and then we have people like you on the internet who think they know better trying to say it's not an issue when it clearly is. Why not do the top too? Or the sides? Or the back? Let's just remove random patches of protection for no freaking reason. BTW normal cases don't have the bottom cut off and I haven't heard of people complaining about gestures being blocked. Sounds like a made up excuse to me!

See this person's example as well:

I didn't care about this bare spot at all until Halloween night, when my 1 week old XS Max hit the curb with force exactly in that spot and cracked the screen all to heck. I was using Apple's silicone case.

I've vowed not to get another Apple case going forward. I want protection all around the device (while still being thin and lightweight). Their silicone case is entirely too grippy anyway. That was part of the reason I dropped the phone - I was struggling to get it out of my pocket to take a photo of my daughter. I was wearing a robe costume. It flipped out of my hand and hit the curb hard.

At least this one isn't grippy, but it still lacks protection there and costs too much. I can get clear TPS cases on Amazon for $10 that are more protective.

I love hands-on tech tests and now Apple is having one of its new innovations tested right here. Great! Come on. Let’s see what it is. Ooh. Transparent. Snazzy plastic outer. Mmmmm. Nice. They’ve never produced a phone like that before. At last something the competition hasn’t thought of firs....wait a minute. What’s this? A case! That’s ..... IT? Next!

Love the apple silicone case for my 7 and I had it for my SE as well.
(Though I never got why for that one the ‘black’ case isn’t actually black)
Yes it’s expensive but at least for me it lasts without wearing down the silicone or cracked corners. And I like that it’s that non-slip.
I’m sorry but the Spigen cases just look ugly.
If the clear case is the same quality, why would it be cheaper?
A couple of weeks ago people were complaining why apple is not offering any cases for the XR, now they do and of course it’s not right either.
