I'd argue even $11 is outrageous when you can buy one for $0.79 at AliExpress.
I won't argue w/ that. Not familiar w/ AliExpress, but do have comfort with Amazon.

The case is awful. Unless you enjoy cases that make hitting the volume buttons feel incredibly non-tactile. That's an issue I've yet to have with Spigen cases, and those cost a fraction of what this one does.
It's so tough when facts stand in the way of hating on another Apple product, LOL. Did you check the price? The clear Spigen is more expensive than the Apple version. So you can get the Apple Logo for $5 less.
Did anyone really believe this would be less than $40Apple's $39 silicone case has a velour interior, Apple logo, and is available in a dozen colors. This XR clear case is basically a third-party product with Apple pricing.
Here's an idea... If it really is THAT big of a deal..... Buy a different case lol. Nowhere does it state you must you an Apple case. I am more than happy with the current design. Makes taking it on/off easy and easy to use with the gestures.Because it does! First of all gestures is a BS excuse because my 6 Plus had the same design and had no gesture area anywhere near the bottom edge of the display. Also the iPhone relies heavily on swipe back from the edge gestures and those work fine with an edge covering. Second of all if you drop it and it lands on the side on the bottom it cracks or otherwise damages the display and housing. I scratched up my 6 Plus cover glass this way and dented the side a little, fortunately not cracking it. We were staying at my wife's grandfather's house in the country. They had a small sink and I had my stuff on the sink and my iPhone on the side. The iPhone got bumped off the counter and that bottom edge hit the weight scale on the floor on the metal rim. If I had practically any other case in existence on at that time, it wouldn't have happened. But no, Apple feels like it doesn't need to have protection around the entire outside and so they don't do it and then we have people like you on the internet who think they know better trying to say it's not an issue when it clearly is. Why not do the top too? Or the sides? Or the back? Let's just remove random patches of protection for no freaking reason. BTW normal cases don't have the bottom cut off and I haven't heard of people complaining about gestures being blocked. Sounds like a made up excuse to me!
See this person's example as well:
Been happily using Apple products since the Apple II in 1980. Just lost my iPhone 6 two weeks ago after having no problem with all the previous iPhones. I immediately went to the closest Apple store and purchased an iPhone XR as my replacement as I had been checking it out. Apple downloaded my entire iPhone set up from my iCloud backup, locked my lost phone so my data would not get hacked, and I was up and running in 2 hours with my new XR. To protect my substantial investment, I chose to get the clear case initially. Then I ordered the Turtleback holster, which has protected my wife's iPhone for 4 years. This holster is the best reviewed case for solid security, particularly when you are pulling it out (smooth) and securing it (magnetic lock on flap) and reviewed as nearly indestructible by construction workers. The holster will fit the XR with the clear case on it, so there's extra security, beyond just putting the phone in your pocket and having it fall out, drop out, or fumbled as you reach for it. If you are looking for the most protection/security, take a look at the Turtleback holster. I got the additional leather belt loop attachment for belt security.
It took nearly two months following the on-sale date for the iPhone XR, but Apple's highly anticipated clear case for the colorful device is now available. We're not entirely sure what the delay was in launching it, and it's currently the only first-party case available for the iPhone XR, so we went hands-on with the new case to see how it stacks up.

Apple's clear case is intended to show off the colorful rear shell of the iPhone XR, and it does a great job at that, with a crystal clear view of the phone itself all around. The case is a bit firmer than we expected based on our previous experiences with third-party clear cases, so Apple's case holds its shape well while also providing solid protection.

The iPhone XR Clear Case has a design that's very similar to Apple's other iPhone cases like the leather and silicone options for other models, with a raised lip around the front to protect your phone when placed or dropped face down and an open bottom that makes it easy to use gestures such as the Home screen swipe that starts at the very bottom of the screen.

It's not the most protective case on the market, but Apple has never been about providing maximal protection, so you'll have to look for other options if you're expecting to need anything more than protection from the occasional small drops.

The case unsurprisingly fits perfectly around the iPhone XR with ample clearance for the rear camera, although we wish the side button covers provided for a little more movement upon pressing to give the buttons a bit more tactile feel and that the ring/silent switch opening was a bit bigger to make it easier to access.

One common issue with third-party cases is that they tend to yellow over time after long-term light exposure. We obviously haven't had Apple's case long enough to know if that will be an issue, but we'd be surprised if Apple didn't take this phenomenon into account when selecting materials for the case.
The iPhone XR Clear Case is priced at $39, which is in line with Apple's other first-party cases but substantially more expensive than many third-party clear cases, so you'll need to decide for yourself whether the price premium is worth it.

It was explained in the video. Gestures. As long as it is raised and not able to come in contact with a surface... What does it really matter?
I get the idea, but it would feel more appropriate if the plastic was mate and not glossy - so that it effectively becomes more or less invisible.Never understood why people like clear cases (I get the reason for them) but my god they are ugly.
Anyone who pays $40 for this should know that the Apple execs are all just laughing at them.
Apple leather cases for phones don't age well and eventually fall apart at the base.I’m waiting for the leather version
Not much point getting a coloured phone and then put an unmatched coloured case. Only makes sense to get a coloured case on the black iPhone.Never understood why people like clear cases (I get the reason for them) but my god they are ugly.
Jony hasn't finished the design and will bring out a full jacket next year. Why can't Apple come out some cases cover the bottom part as well?!
Whats amazing about it? The price? I would call it more shocking ;-)Amazing case. But I would request a more in-depth review please.
