I can't actually take the credit. My husband called and complained because he gets a lot further with it then I do. We could both call the same number with the exact complaint and he will always get amazing results while I get nada. :)
 
Doesn't look like any have been marked PREPARED TO SHIP today.

Doesn't seem like it does it? I haven't seen one person's go from "not yet shipped" to "prepared to ship" today. However, I have heard of people going from "prepared to ship" to "shipped" - not that that will help you or me.

I'm sure some oddball will say "not in every case", but in 99.999% of the cases, yes. Actually, some people's have been "prepared for shipping" for over 48 hours right now.
 
I ordered just shy of 6am EST, ordering had been open ~2 hours. It still said 3-5 days. I ordered a black AT&T 64GB model. My order status estimates March 18-25 (not yet shipped).

Kinda annoying actually.

As it happens I went to the Fifth Avenue store at 2am after launch. They had only Verizon models there. I bought one basically as a loaner (as in I'll take it back when my real one arrives).

I had hoped to pick up one for my sister from a store but in NYC at least it's been impossible. Still lines down the block in the morning. On day five no less!

I hope mine gets to "shipped" at least before the 2 week return window is up.

And we all wonder why Apple have run out! Guys like you who want only one but take two sales. Come on - give people who really want one a chance!
 
iPad 2 Ship date

After reading what everyone had to say today I decided to call Apple again and this time I was told that everyone who ordered on the 11th will get priority shipping. He also told me that my iPad was due to ship tomorrow morning for two day delivery from his screen. I should get an email tomorrow morning. The site still says not yet shipped but this sounds good if true. So maybe I still might get it by Saturday. I will post here tomorrow if the email does come through. Let's hope a bunch ship tomorrow.

Thanks. I hope they were telling you the truth. That could make the difference between mine getting to Hawaii and sitting at FedEx for a day or so and actually being put on the truck.

I got my red leather cover today. Love it. I actually ordered at 11:02 PM on the 10th (am in Hawaii) but it was 1:02 AM PST. So far today I am not sure if any on the boards have gotten shipment notices. I was not amused to hear some got the 64GB wifi models in Apple stores this morning.
 
I calmly called Apple and to my surprise there was no wait what so ever. I spoke to a representative nicely and just asked if everything was okay. I asked if there were any faster shipping and he said "I'll add next day shipping for you". Now I doubt it's actually next day air but when I logged in now my shipping says "Priority". He told me that I should expect to see a change in my shipping time tomorrow or so and just try to just be calm. No biggie, as much as I want it, it wont be the end of the world if I have to wait a few days.
 
Just called Apple myself and said I was going on vacation (I am!!) and asked if I could upgrade my shipping. She said that she couldn't do that, but quickly pointed out that I have the fastest possible shipping/delivery date. As with most big companies, it seems that requests for priority shipping or credits as others are getting are a hit or miss proposition.

I am among the folks who agree that Apple is (so far) holding to their end of the agreement in terms of a shipping and delivery estimate which I agreed to when I placed my order. Case in point, my cover just landed in Anchorage, which means it is on track for delivery within their timeline.

That said, still disappointed that it is taking so long. Feels like they could have had a good number (100,000+) ready to fly out the door to "reward" those of us who ordered within the first hour. Though with 18 models that may have been a tough one. Also weird that there is no logic behind which iPads are going out first.
 
I just got off the phone with an apple customer service person who said my order is preparing for shipment, which it is not as I just checked again myself after I got off the phone with him. Still says not yet shipped.

In between his repeating the phrase "know what I'm saying" 100 times though out his little speech, I got very little information out of him. He did say that they are sending them out randomly and they are not being sent out in the order they were received. Well at this point, duh. We figured that out.

I think I can feel an apple flavored screwing coming to us, I'm afraid.

It seems like the CS reps must be having a bet amongst themselves to see who can come up with the biggest BS story. Every time you call up its another scenario with them. There is really no accountability. You can't contact the same person again if you wanted to hold them to what was said.

The kind lady said my 64GB should arrive well before...

What a crock of ****. As I've said before - there's no way in hell a CS rep knows anything about one particular iPad's status in a sea of hundreds of thousands. They only go by the same screen you do.


He did say that they are sending them out randomly and they are not being sent out in the order they were received. Well at this point, duh. We figured that out.

I've been saying this all along - it is incredibly unfair no matter how you look at it! That said, they are going by SOME time order because I saw a chart someone made on it and most that have shipped were ordered between 12:30 AM and 2:00 AM PST. Either way, some of the later orders (even with engraving) have been shipping and it's pissed me off to the extreme.

Ordered 1:19AM on 3/11/11 White 16GB 3G AT&T model. Still Not yet shipped.

FYI, my Black leather cover was shipped on 3/14/11 and shows delivery on 3/22/11...
 
Mine finally shipped, but have a shipping exception already (missed the fedex pickup time)!

Good news - I ordered the same in black about 10 minutes later than you did, still NYS in the Apple Store status checker. I hope this means mine will ship soon, too!

Just talked to Customer Service. He said there is absolutely NO WAY for any rep to change someone's order to Priority Shipping and the ONLY thing reps see is the exact same order status page we see. They cannot tell when someone's order is about to be prepared for shipment. I am very good at getting what I want on the phone and don't let up - but I persisted and this guy seemed to honestly not know anything about these things. I call BS on these previous claims of expedited shipping.

I started a thread on my particular model and it still looks like none of the 32gb AT&T models have even moved to "prepare for shipment".

Someone earlier in the thread brought up the idea that some might be already stateside waiting to be shipped out tomorrow. Not sure why they would have done that, but...

A guy can hope can't he?

What do you mean "it worked for you" - are you saying the guy just lied to me? I don't see why he wouldn't have just done it if he had the ability. What did they do for you, tell you it's about to be prepped or give you priority shipping? He said they have no control over the shipping.

Well I'm sure like most it says Standard Shipping. However after speaking with them I me expressing my frustration, he stated he would upgrade my shipping to 2 day. Now it says 2 day on my order status.
