I spoke with a representative this morning that said the pending charge was just to ensure you had the funds available. You will be charged officially when your ipad ships.

I see. Well I hope my balance doesn't slip below the $699+tax amount prior to it being shipped. I wish it would have just stayed pending until it fully charged. Eh

Kinda annoying actually.

As it happens I went to the Fifth Avenue store at 2am after launch. They had only Verizon models there. I bought one basically as a loaner (as in I'll take it back when my real one arrives).

So basically you are taking one out of someone else's hands because you're too greedy to wait for your online order to arrive? Nice man, good on you.

I don't see why it is frustrating to see others get theirs a few days before you. I mean really, the impatience on some of you just appalling in the least. That American greed just kicking right in and it is sickening. You don't get to play with your toy. Boo hoo :mad::mad:

You will get yours, play with it for a while. And move on to the next must have toy and most likely proceed to have a whine fest about that as well.

I will wait patiently and if it does not come by the time stated, I *might* complain to them.

I ordered a 64gig black AT&T at 3:03 central time on the 11th, my order still says not yet shipped, and shows 3-5 day shipping. Unfortunately, I've seen posts on other forums where the shipping date is being pushed back, even though it originally said 3-5 days.

Ordered same model @ 2:54 Central time. Same status.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Me too with a White 64GB ATT 3G, I had really been hoping it would be delivered by the 23rd as I'm heading on a long trip early the 24th. Hope for that is fading fast

I ordered a 32 gb wifi-3G black (att) on apple.com within in mins of the online ordering going up.

Sometime around last night my order went from "not yet shipped" to "prepared for shipment" I also was able to call apple CS and ask for "priority" shipping which I was able to get.

Typing this on my iPhone so as as soon as I can
Get onto my MacBook I'll post a screenshot

One thing I am curious about is, how long do the ordered typically stay at "prepared for shipment" for?

Well, we are now on day 3 of "prepared for shipment"

This is bordering the ridiculous. If it doesn't change by later today, I will be calling.

To be fair, orders were taken Friday (albeit early Friday). One business day would be Monday, three business days is tomorrow, and 5 business days is Friday. Might not hear anything until the end of the week.

I count Friday. Business days are typically Monday through Friday from 8 to 5. My order was placed 4 hours before start of business...therefore they had a full business day Friday with my order in queue.

I try to like Apple but when I set an alarm to get up at 3am to place my order for a black 64gb I expect to see some action in shipping.

Today is the LAST day before Apple has got to do a lot of explaining, again! Why they keep shooting themselves in the foot at delivery time rather than be honest with their customers, I do not know.

Either a butt load of iPad 2 units are going to ship today or Apple with have cr^p on their face, again! If I had to bet on which, I would say to hand Apple some toilet paper !

Hate to say it but it can take DAYS to prepare your iPad 2 for shipment! This is really just a code word for delayed!

Ordered a IPAD WI-FI 64GB BLACK-USA at 12:51am PST on March 11... still in "not shipped yet" status.

The orange smart cover that was part of the order has shipped, but its been stuck in China for 2-3 days now.

Same here. Still says not shipped.

+1 here. I'm not sure what the words mean anymore. If you call tonight and get anywhere (find out anything), please post. My sense is that CS knows nothing and will guess. I'd been hoping for delivery by Friday - now it looks like I'll be lucky if it ships by Friday. I did order early Friday morning the 11th.

i wouldnt count friday. it doesnt specify pst business hours or est or hong kong time. shenzhen is 12 hours ahead of est and while that would be 4 pm there at this point i wouldnt be surprised if they didnt count it.

Dude...we get it. We are selfish, impatient, materialistic cry babies. And we should be ashamed for the way we are acting. You, however, are a much better person than us, and you have no problem reminding us of this over and over.

I really don't see the need for you to come here and "lecture" us about our behavior and how we should feel. What we do does not literally affect you in any way, yet somehow it bothers you enough to spout useless rhetoric like you are some Methodist preacher and we are the sinful clergy sent by the devil himself. Just relax a little and say what only needs to be said. This is generally a friendly forum for Apple fans...don't taint it with your negativity.

1:07 AM and still not shipped 64 gig black wifi.

Called apple as others were saying they got priority shipping and free cases. All I got were lies. She kept saying all orders were processed in order of receipt and this was the first she ever heard of 16 or 32 gig models shipping before 64 gig models. I am pissed with this process.

I know it's within their ship date but that date is unreasonable.

First In Last Out

I ordered the 64 GB 3g WiFi AT&T Black at 1:07 am PST on March 11 and as of now my order status still shows Not Yet Shipped. I have spoken to Apple twice and received two different responses neither of which was satisfactory.

Is there a pattern here? It appears from this thread that those who ordered early on March 11 are the ones that are not shipping? On other threads I have seen people who ordered much later and even had the Ipad engraved have already received their Ipads.

Yes. You are missing plenty. People have been having their orders shipped DAYS before other people when they have THE EXACT SAME ORDERS, yet ordered HOURS after those other folks! Even engraved iPad 2's! It is a ridiculous process. I ordered 12:45 am PST 3/11 like many others and am still sitting at "not yet shipped" when others have ARRIVED today who ordered well after me. The latest order to ship that I've seen was a 7:30 am EST 3/11. That is ridiculous.

You are grossly over-simplifying the order fulfillment element of the supply chain management component of their ERP. A lot of things going on behind the scenes when you push the button to place your order. If this was a little mom and pop shop selling a few hundred items a month it would be one thing but thousands of order entries were being processed when you ordered yours. Your order not getting shipped out before others who ordered after you could be, for instance, a delay in your bank or credit card company providing approval back to Apple to process your order. During those few seconds, minutes or however long for approval from cc\bank it takes thousands if not tens of thousands of other orders are getting submitted some of which get approved by their bank\cc sooner than yours so the order gets processed before yours.

Using your analogy lets say you have 100 people standing in line at an Apple store and for simplicity sake we'll say they only accept cash. They currently only have 80 in stock but the warehouse across town has plenty in stock and a truck has been dispatched to deliver more to store if needed. As people are about to be handed their iPad the seller ask to see their cash. If you don't have the money in hand no iPad given to you. And in this instance you don't have cash but you have an debit card. So you have to run down the hall to the ATM to get the money and they save a place for you in line. As you are getting your money, others in the line behind you at the Apple store are given their iPads. When you get back to the store with cash in hand and regain your place in line the existing stock may have been exhausted but more are on their way.

Guess my point is order time may have no meaning when potentially tens of thousands of orders are being processed every second and variables beyond Apples control may delay your order.
