My 12 mini never got warm during use nor has my 13 mini. The only time it happens that I have noticed is during charging, which is normal.

Thanks for sharing! Interesting, from all I have read I understood heat to be an issue with 12 mini across the board. Mine has been doing that only in the last couple of months- warm even just lightly browsing social media, reading the news, or using the camera.

Those affected could be plagued with lots of ads etc. Since I use a blocker and don't use Social Media, I don't run into that problem.

I had a leather apple one for my 12pm and yes the leather quality is not what it used to be, somewhat waxy feel to it, compared to my iPhone X case which had the best patina.

My favorite of the many cases I've owned (otter box, apple leather, silicone, tech 21, spigen, etc.), was the Caudabe sheath which I plan to get for the 13mini. Best grip and slimmest profile with some protection for drops. Good luck!
Unfortunately I would have to order the Caudabe case from them in the US and have no idea how long it would take to get to me or the customs duties. I may give it a go if I can't find anything else decent.

That’s the odd thing- I don’t have any ads to deal with, either- I use Tapatalk for reading this forum, and it gets warm doing that. Gets warm using Reddit via the Reddit app or narwhal- again no ads… and it gets warm even watching videos on YouTube or using the camera.

I may just have a bit of a problem device, as it never got warm up until about two months ago.

Anyway, glad you got your hands on a mini- enjoy!!

Gotcha. Well if you can get by with a cheap one until it can get delivered, I can promised its worth the wait.

So this is the first day of me testing a blue 13 Mini.
Anyone else love the small form factor?
It feels amazing in hand, especially without a case (just screen protector). And the blue is so nice.

I had a 12 Mini last year up until August when I got tired of the subpar battery life. So I bought a used 11 Pro Max (had one before the 12 Mini) to hold me over until iPhone 14.

I still had my Mini 12 sitting around until I figured out what I was going to do with it. Best Buy had an amazing deal where I could trade in the Mini 12 for only $69 + tax so it was a no brainer to upgrade to the 13 Mini.

And here I am, testing this bad boy.
I’m not a power user so I’m hoping that I’ll have enough juice left until bedtime.
Love it. The X was the last “perfect” size phone for me until the 13 mini. The 11 Pro was too heavy, the 12 was a lot lighter but just clunky and bit uncomfortable at times. I manage almost 7 hours of screen on time on my mini. Love it.

Absolutely loving the 13 mini.

I think for me it's the easily the best phone I've ever owned when taking into account device size, battery life, performance and just how easy it is to live with day to do.

I've occasionally had larger phones - X, XS, 11 Pro, 12 Pro etc - just to see if I can get used to them, but in the end the weight and bulk of those phones (even the non-Max ones) is just too bothersome for someone like me who keeps phones in a pocket and doesn't like the feeling of something weighty/bulky being with me all the time.

In all honesty, there's very little they could improve. Maybe a 120hz screen, no notch, touchid (as well as face id), and more pro/grown up colours, but they're all pretty trivial.

Do you think Apple will bring ProMotion to the regular iPhones? They haven't done that for the iPad line and it's been years being exclusive to the Pro models.

I highly doubt that. It’s to get people to spend more for the Pro models.

I have to disagree on size. My wife got a pro 13. I have a 12 mini. When I picked hers up I wondered if she had purchased the max by mistake. So technically you are correct. But wow the 13 pro felt like a brick compared to the mini.
Same situation here. No desire for them 6.1 120hz display I can’t even tell. Mini 4 life lol. Apple please make them every three years. I will even take that. Treat it like the iPad mini.

I doubt it. It’ll be a way to upsell customers to pro.

Will a 12 Mini case fit a 13 Mini? I have a leather Decode back case and hoping to use it with a 13 mini.

**Update. never mind looks like it doesn't .
Soft rubber like TPU cases will fit but the cutout for the camera bump doesn't quite line up so it's a little wonky. My wife used her 12 mini case on her 13 mini for a while until we got her a proper 13 mini case. I had a hard shell Pitaka carbon fiber case for my 12 mini that wouldn't fit the 13 mini at all.

In the long term? Sure. But I expect ProMotion will remain a high-end feature for the immediate future, just like OLED was versus LCD screen models.

I got my Mini 13 today. It's a big change from my 2016 SE... finding it hard to get used to the lack of power button and slightly bigger screen. I'm amazed the size is now considered small in modern times... I really wouldn't want anything larger!

Find the off mechanism a faff too!

It's not anything with ads for me- it gets noticeably warm even when I am simply talking on the phone- with the screen off, not doing anything else on the device. And otherwise, simply using Tapatalk to browse this forum, or the Reddit or Narwhal apps for browsing Reddit- no ads, but it warms up when doing any of that, too. Same goes with using the camera.

Dito. I only saw it getting WARM when I used Garmin Connect and synced also. You can also see battery going down 2-3% in 1min or so. And sometimes when charging, but normally my 12 Mini never gets warm.

I also do use an ad blocker and all security settings turned on from apple, iCloud Private Relay etc.

Does anyone who has had the 12 pro or 13pro have any issues seeing text size with the mini? That’s my concern …..
At 55, nearsighted with vision correction for distance sight and also farsighted due to age so needing graduates lenses for reading, I don’t have any issues. But every person’s vision is different.

I must have a problem device, then. I always close my apps when I'm finished with them- and literally just talking on the phone- screen not on, no apps running in the background- the back of the phone was noticeably warm. Same thing happens when using some light apps as noted above. I suspect it's some kind of hardware issue, it just started a couple of months ago- and the upgrade to IOS 15 did not help.

Edit:
I do want to say, for clarification, that when I mention it getting warm- I use it caseless, and it's not hot to the touch, but just noticeably warm on the back and sometimes on the sides. Not uncomfortable, not making me think it's too hot- but it just never even got warm at all in the past, even with very light use.

I suspect with a case, I would not notice it getting warm at all.

They aren’t. I’ve got both. Ignore gsmarena, they probably haven’t even tested the phone!

Larger sensor, better software, better stabilisation in low light, different apertures etc. They might be similar in perfect lighting, but that’s about it.

13’s have less noise, less mush, better colour reproduction and are much better at exposing a natural look on low light and with night mode.
Wow I didn’t know there was such a significant difference! That’s fantastic. I didn’t want to upgrade this year but the fact this is the last year for this form factor is forcing my hand.

Have had my 256Gb Starlight mini since launch day. Honestly impressed - battery has not been an issue as lots of opportunities during day to bump charge as needed. But - honestly has not really been needed, if Apple or someone comes up with a small(er) MagSafe pack that is reasonable $$ that would be nice, but not necessary. Screen is noticeably brighter and clearer than my wife’s 12 mini, cameras are ridiculous - only thing I would like is a zoom but as is considerably better than my iPhone 11 Pro (went to my son). Form factor is perfect, I run my text 120% to help with the old eyes and not an issue/works well for me.

I use for social media, email, work email, WebEx meetings, family pictures, news consumption, etc. Pretty standard would say moderate user. Works great - only thing I have noticed is stutter/stalls where an app freezes on occasion or a web page freezes/won’t scroll. That is not unique to Mini - c’mon apple fix your software - iOS 15.01 issues.

My first MagSafe device, purchased an amazon leather wallet that holds 4 cards and has a kickstand - it is awesome and helps me keep my carry to a minimum while giving me a great stand (portrait or horizontal). Honestly, cannot see going to a different device for my use and this one is a fairly significant bump from the 12 and a giant leap from my iPhone 11 + fantastic form factor. Hope Apple keeps this up in future releases…
Yes that’s definitely iOS issues not your mini. I have the same hiccups on my 13 Pro, too.
