All of this is subjective, of course, but I actually think the brushed look of the stainless steel link band matches the soft titanium look of the Ultra far more naturally than the shiny polished look of the stainless steel Watch it was designed to accompany. The colors aren’t an exact match, but light usually hits it in a way where it seems very close.

It’s certainly not a terrible match. Here is me wearing the link bracelet. My main issue with it is that I wish it were a little wider.

Looks brilliant, always liked the look of the leather pillowed strap, in both iterations - it looked like something that should be worn on the Nostromo. I didn't want to wear leather though, so I'll be buying some today :)

Gonna pass on these, $99 for a cloth band that will discolor in less than a year? No thanks.

I just wished there were more options between Apple's over-priced stuff, and Amazon's cheap $5 buck junk.

What is frustrating is that animals do not (usually) get killer FOR leather, they are killed for food and leather is part of trying not to waste any part of the animal. I’m not saying more animals should be killed just for their skin, but I’d rather see it get used as a byproduct, than wasted.

Also polyester and nylon are both made from fossil fuels. The article claims their are “recycled” but as we know almost nothing uses 100% recycled material.

To be clear, I’ve never liked Apples leather, it felt fake already. If FineWoven is a better feeling material then cool. I just feel like it’s disingenuous to act like a natural byproduct (leather) is worse than digging up fossil fuels to make polyester and nylon.

For an environmentally friendly case I’d like to see something plant based. Maybe woven hemp?

Nothing wrong with Apple selling a vegan option, go for it.

But stop the other crap Apple. The watch is made in a country with low wages, poor working conditions, pollution, and largely designed to be replaced in a few years. Far bigger issues that the strap.

Well said. Not sure why people seem to prefer it goes into the trash can.

There is - I always buy from aliexpress the copy ones, they come in an Apple box and are 99.9 close to the ones you'd buy direct, but at a 10:1 ratio cost wise.

"Let's stop using a natural, biodegradable by-product of the food industry and instead use plastic which, because it's "recycled" we can sound green and clear the conscience of plastic producers upstream who then feel like they don't need to reduce their plastic use."

Firstly, humans were not “designed” at all.

Secondly, humans do not need to eat meat

It’s that simple. Case closed. No further discussion required ;)
In a non-modern world, without oil-powered supplement supply chains….yeah…humans need meat. I don’t think we should base our future on the ability to create supplements and artificial nutrition. Actually, fat content of nutrition is thought to have contributed to our increased brain size and power. But, you know, whatever.

I hope people only enjoy the FineWoven bands, and consider no others. And I hope people only upgrade on a responsible schedule, with no environmental impact, and eschew all modern conveniences because they have environmental impacts.
