In Sweden the 14 Pro costs 1500 dollars (14995 kr) we do have a 25% tax, but that is a HUGE price increase!! When 13 Pro came it costed 1230 dollars (12290 kr)

So 999 dollars went to 1230 dollars before
now 999 dollars is 1500 dollars! :D yay!

Euro pricing is also getting excessive. Was planning to get a Pro, but I may skip this year.

“Sorry you are wrong, people earning 50K are facing energy price increase of over 200% just like anyone else.”

Energy prices have tripled??!!

That's what a 200% increase means. Think about it. If a price of 100 has an increase of 200%, it ends up at 300! Or, triple where it started!

Any evidence there's been that big an increase in household energy prices?

Even if it were true, those with wealth and high incomes — think $150,000+ and 500K-1M in assets — can readily absorb it. Unlike the rest of us…😎

Compared to that, Apple's prices for its updated models have “barely” nudged! They certainly haven't tripled.

The Watch SE — with more features now — even had a price drop — at least in the U.S.!

You don't need to convince me that there are many people that are feeling the pressure of increasing cost of living. I'm one of those people. But those people aren't who Apple markets their phones to. Apple has always marketed themselves as a premium luxury brand. It infuriates me at times because I see the nonsense of charging people exorbitant amounts of money for base models that shouldn't be sold, and high prices for upgrades that should be on a $1000 phone to begin with. The reality is though that Apple prices their phones the way they do because apparently the majority of their user base is financially stable enough to not care about the prices. You said this high price will impact sales. I disagree. Apple always seems to find the courage to raise prices, and to date they appear to continuously hit record sales.

Maybe, but many millions own an iPhone from all classes and wage packets so I’m not sure the premium brand holds up anymore. They can market it as much as they like, people don’t have the money currently. If it is seen a premium device then it can also seen a device not required.

Why didn’t the SE drop in price?

The 2022 SE is still the new/current model for that line. It was only introduced six months ago. Apple doesn't tend to reduce iPhone prices until a next version comes out. The next SE isn't expected until 2023 or 2024 at which time the current SE will presumably be discontinued anyway.

If you look at their turnover the past 15 or so years, you're right. Even during the financial crisis they continued to grow. But I think it's going to be different this time.

Im talking about the U.K. our own bill with 2 of us and a dog went from around 1900 a year to now over 4360 a year and that’s in the space of 3 months I think, and that’s before the next price increase next month. I await to see what our new PM does, but here in the U.K. energy prices have literally sky rocketed up MASSIVELY! Oh and the British energy companies are announcing all time record profits every quarter now.
Last I heard is the PM is going to ‘borrow’ up to 140 billion sterling to cap the price for 2 years only, so the tax payer will still pay for it and the energy companies will still make serious profits. In France inbelieve their had an increase if 4% or something, UK has had something like 215%.

Hence my argument that putting up iPhone prices will impact it’s sales. We were paying nearly £2 a litre for fuel not, long ago and it still hasn’t dropped to where it was last year before Russias invasion yet the price of a barrel of oil has... hmm that’ll be the energy companies gaining bigger profits, again. Food has gone up, and so everything else is going up too.
I am not joking when I say millions including us we’re seriously thinking we cannot possibly pay our energy bills with the next increase, energy price cap was expected to increase by another 80% next month.
The government is also seriously planning for brown outs ‘black outs’ and controlling when you can cook or wash your clothes etc. it’s a complete and total mess.

I’m sorry but IMO they are now overpriced in the U.K. no excuse for it either. They could easily swallow any inflation costs, I think they’ll lose sales now especially cost of living crisis. The US is also suffering from high inflation, it’s a bit of an insult that product prices are going up everywhere expect the US.

£949 for the base iPhone 14 Plus, £849 for the base iPhone 14! That’s just too much. and that’s not mentioning the Pro iPhones.

You do realize this is a high end smartphone (even the "base" models), not a basic life necessity, right?

anyone else a little disappointed in the purple? Pacific blue and Sierra blue were awesome… obviously this is subjective but I wonder what’s the ratio of people who like the purple vs don’t like it.
Depends for Pro. It's looks so dark in some pics but others it's a nice shade. I'd have to look at it in person before ordering this time

Don't your prices include VAT? I think it's 20%. If that's the case, the UK and US prices are actually pretty close. I think UK is like 1-2% higher, which is the result of rounding up to the nearest 49/99.
