Apple’s strategy for a few years now has been to keep the prior two generations of non-Pro phones in the lineup.iPhone 12 - why?
Why? Because they’ve determined that is the most profitable way to run the business.

European prices include VAT; USA prices don't include sales tax.Prices are much much higher outside the US.
Yea at least for us in US gas has nearly come all the way down, and our cooling/heating aren't out of control. Groceries are the worst and still haven't dropped to match gas. But overall seems worse to raise prices in the countries with the worst inflation.Sorry you are wrong, people earning 50K are facing energy price increase of over 200% just like anyone else. Plus food plus other bills etc etc etc, everything has gone U.K. but wages have not. Do you think their are tens of millions of millionaires out there buying iPhones?
It dropped 8% in real dollars. Holding the line on prices when there is inflation is effectively a drop. Why didn’t the SE drop in price?
Happy they kept the 13 mini around, provides some hope about a 15 mini coming next year maybe.
Not sure it will help sales thou that it’s now €100more than before the event.. 🙃
My sides are in orbit.
Yes, shockingly, most people who buy smartphones actually just want to buy smartphones.I think Apple consumers by now are used to seeing SE and one to two year old iPhones available as new.
Yeah, but taxes haven’t changed from past year. And prices have become much higher than in 2021.European prices include VAT; USA prices don't include sales tax.
same in hungary 😅 13 pro 424000 Ft = 1073$ / now 14 pro 569990 Ft = 1442 $In Sweden the 14 Pro costs 1500 dollars (14995 kr) we do have a 25% tax, but that is a HUGE price increase!! When 13 Pro came it costed 1230 dollars (12290 kr)
So 999 dollars went to 1230 dollars before
now 999 dollars is 1500 dollars!yay!
I tell people looking for a lower cost iPhone to hit up Amazon for a refreshed unit.

EDIT: and also beyond despicable to charge for a feature that could save your life.
Given that the majority of iPhone owners (65%-85% as of 2022) make the U.S. median income or less, it's safe to say most of the Apple user base IS (or should be) actually worried about rising food and fuel costs.Apple knows their user base gererally aren't the ones worried about rising food and fuel costs.
Yea you always have the crazy rich, but other than the ones going homeless or another terrible consequence from inflation, you have the middle class people who used to be able to get some wants, but now can only get needs.“Sorry you are wrong, people earning 50K are facing energy price increase of over 200% just like anyone else.”
Energy prices have tripled??!!
That's what a 200% increase means. Think about it. If a price of 100 has an increase of 200%, it ends up at 300! Or, triple where it started!
Any evidence there's been that big an increase in household energy prices?
Even if it were true, those with wealth and high incomes — think $150,000+ and 500K-1M in assets — can readily absorb it. Unlike the rest of us…😎
Compared to that, Apple's prices for its updated models have “barely” nudged! They certainly haven't tripled.
The Watch SE — with more features now — even had a price drop — at least in the U.S.!
Absolutely nothing wrong with UK pricing at all. For the iPhone 14, here’s the breakdown:I’m sorry but IMO they are now overpriced in the U.K. no excuse for it either. They could easily swallow any inflation costs, I think they’ll lose sales now especially cost of living crisis. The US is also suffering from high inflation, it’s a bit of an insult that product prices are going up everywhere expect the US.
£949 for the base iPhone 14 Plus, £849 for the base iPhone 14! That’s just too much. and that’s not mentioning the Pro iPhones.
Apple itself also offers lower cost refurbished iPhones.
Absolutely nothing wrong with UK pricing at all. For the iPhone 14, here’s the breakdown:
UK price including 20% sales tax (VAT): £849
Remove VAT (£169): £680
£680 to USD according to Siri: $785
US cost: $799 + state sales tax where applicable.
Yep. I even checked with Wayback Machine to see if I was imagining things. I wasn't.And now add the European prices where our worthless currency literally caused last year's iPhone 13 to be more expensive today than yesterday. Instead of a $100 price decrease, we got an increase. Could literally buy an iPhone 13 cheaper yesterday than today. Don't even get me started on the 14's prices 😂
