I am relieved as I am a new AW user (bought my first one in Dec 2020). I spent a ton of money in the last 9 months (series 6 SS, series 5 ss, series 4 aluminum and series 6 aluminum along with several bands including the SS link bracelet). I was really worries that the potential case style change, significant upgrades in series 7 and/or incompatibility with the bands will make them obsolete pretty soon. Just glad that didn't happen. I am happy to not upgrade this year :)

Nope. I kept my S2 until the S6 came out. I figure at this point I'm good until the S10.

Definitely not enough of a change. The only thing motivating me is 94% battery health - seems to be dropping abnormally.... but I'm keeping my iPhone so I'm strongly considering keeping my watch. If it drops below 80% I'll just hit up AppleCare+.

Actually pleasantly surprised - I bought my Series 6 in April, and knew I was “at risk” of being bummed by a Series 7 overhaul… nope! Feeling content with 6, and will keep it for at least another generation
Yeah, it’s starting to sound like the Series 7 has all of the Series 6 internal components. The S7 processor is basically the S6 with minor display tweaks and the Bluetooth protocols and U1 chip are the same. It’s like changing the front bumper on essentially the same car.

Nope, not upgrading from my S6, nothing of significance, other than the 20% reduction of bezels, the internals, general shape and sensors are all the same.

Btw, i am very surprised that they stuck with the same basic design. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I was almost certain that they would significantly change it. I guess it's good - less incentive for me to spend extra money ;)

Looking at the pictures is the blue aluminum a lighter shade on the 7 then on the 6?

Am I the only one thinking how the battery is going to drop like a brick with that additional screen space and brightness? :p

I wouldn't be particularly concerned. When the S5 came out I did some testing with AOD on vs off over several days -- maybe my memory is playing tricks but I don't recall seeing much (if any) battery life impact.

Similarly with the S6 increasing the range of outdoor brightness I've seen no discernible difference vs when I had my S5.

Undecided for my wife's AW3.
Go AW6 (GPS+Cellular), which is now at $399 on amazon, or go AW7 (GPS+Cellular) at $499?

I also wonder if the AW6 will decrease price once the 7 is out.

Prices on S6 will likely drop a bit as vendors clear out stock - and then they'll be unavailable. So it's a bit of a dance - wait for lower price while not waiting so long that the model you want is unavailable.

Also check the Apple Refurbished store - no aluminum cellular S6's right now but sites like refurb.me will let you set an alert when something comes back into stock.

As for S6 vs S7... good question - display size is gonna be such a subjective thing for folks.

Good points.
As for screen size, coming from an S3 I am sure she'll find the S6 with more than enough screen room.

Yes, because I’m an idiot🙂. I love my S6 graphite and I will get the S7 graphite simply because I do like the thought of the larger screen size and brighter AOD

Tread carefully - the marketing says brighter indoors. At least for me, indoor brightness has never been an issue. Maybe it has been for others.

Hell yeah!

Bigger display, S7 efficiency gains to potentially improve battery run times, more health tracking benefits, new watch faces, a beautifully refined design, and significantly faster charging to aid sleep tracking.

This is a significant upgrade even for S6 owners.

I'm upgrading!
I agree with you. I have no idea why so many people are hating on Series 7. It’s an S model year. I think people were relying on the rumors way too much thus the expectations were set off the roof.

I totally agree. I think we listen to the leakers far too much and this year none of them were even remotely close. The problem is that we read stuff by Gurman and Prosser and their predictions are blasted all over websites and YouTube and it sets our expectations too high.

I try not to set any expectations based on rumors. Largely because they've so often been wrong in years past. but also more recently due to the appearances of Apple seeking to "out" some of the rumor leakers -- it's a perfect environment for a bunch of stuff to hit the rumor mill that has no basis in reality.

Plus by having few/no expectations, the reality is never disappointing. :D

It's clear the AW is moving into the mature product stage now with ever more incremental updates each year. If the other claims of effectively the same internals are correct, then I think a good number of S6 owners will stand pat and not buy the S7.

I'll be holding onto my Ti S6 for another year. Especially since I purchased it not too long ago. The edge to edge display is nice, but not a game changer for me.

This.

I'm upgrading. Just don't know what color/finish yet. It looks like the blue aluminum is a lighter shade, so I'd probably go for that, because blue is my favorite color. Otherwise the green intrigues me this year.
