Other than that display, which I think will be amazing, I’m probably in the minority when I say I’m pretty excited about finally getting a keyboard. I never in a million years would’ve expected Apple to put a keyboard on the watch. Voice dictation is not always desirable and Scribble is a tad slow.

I still have the S5 and I wont be upgrading. Even if I had the 6 I wouldn't be upgrading.
I generally only use my watch for the time and notifications, or to respond to the odd message. Yes the on screen keyboard would be very welcome, but not enough for me to justify the extra cost when the remaining new features don't interest me.......

I wasn't even planning on upgrading my AW 6 when I ordered it when pre orders opened last year. I will have it at least 3 years before updating if it doesn't break for some reason. Also a reason I thought it was worth paying extra for Ti version (aside from sapphire glass and that natural titanium looks nice).

Nope. I was perfectly happy with my 4 last year and than it **** itself so I was forced to upgrade to the 6. I'm perfectly happy with my SS6 so will be keeping that for the next foreseeable future or until the updates stop coming.

I don’t think it has anything worth the upgrade money/hassle of selling S6. And in at least in renders the new colors suck. Really weird decision to get rid of neutral silver and dark gray. It's not a phone, it's visible part of my outfit. And big chunk of my band collection wouldn’t suddenly match with the watch anymore.

The fact that we discovered that the S7 uses the same EXACT SoC as the S6, is proof that this is just a Series 6 "s" watch revision....just a facelift, to the truest sense of the word and nothing more, really.

Not a significant enough upgrade to warrant me shelling out an additional $399 for it, especially when you add to the fact that my S6 still has a 91% battery health...

Yeah...it is just a blatant ripoff for me personally with a S6....not worth it at all...

Actually pleasantly surprised - I bought my Series 6 in April, and knew I was “at risk” of being bummed by a Series 7 overhaul… nope! Feeling content with 6, and will keep it for at least another generation

All this said - I just think this is the way technology is going. I may be an anomaly on a message board filled with Apple fans (myself included!) but I have an iPhone 11 that I love and likely won’t replace until forced to (or until I see a screaming carrier deal!).
That's because it's exactly the same watch bar the new display which they have shoehorned in and a couple of minor software updates.

Apparently, the real Watch 7 (with a bigger battery, better radio, and modern flat-edged design like the iPhone) was scuttled at the last minute due to production issues, so they have to ship an upgraded Watch 6 instead with the larger displays that were destined for the redesigned Watch 7.

Hence the stupid glass thickness increase and the mysterious "available later this Fall".

Good on them for scrambling to actually have something to ship, but in my view, a Watch 7 purchase would be the ultimate triumph of marketing over common sense.

Just buy (or keep) the 6 instead. Or better move, wait for the 7, err Watch 8.

You could wait for the Series 10, I’ve heard the Series 8 is an incremental update too.

Not impressed by the aluminium colours. I don’t like that space grey is gone it just looks like a blue. Think i may get graphite this year.

I doubt it and I upgrade every year. If trade in values were more aggressive like last year iPhone’s are, then I would, but really not much to upgrade for compared to my titanium AW6.

I was plenty excited for the 7. It doesn’t quite have any game changing features for me to make the jump this year.
The move from 5->6 was better. This one has only faster charging + brighter display. I’ll upgrade next year with a newer CPU, bigger & brighter screen, and fast charging.
5->7 is a huge jump, biggest would be jump in charging speed, 2 generations worth

Undecided for my wife's AW3.
Go AW6 (GPS+Cellular), which is now at $399 on amazon, or go AW7 (GPS+Cellular) at $499?

I also wonder if the AW6 will decrease price once the 7 is out.
Upgrading, might as well get the newest model @ $100 more.

I’m still struggling to decide whether to upgrade from my 4 …I thought I would, but now I’m on the fence now
I had every intention of upgrading to a SS series 7 from my aluminum series 2… I really want a faster processor and better battery life but I decided to skip series 6, and now that the series 7 is basically just a series 6 with a bigger screen, I’m holding off. Super pumped for series 8 though! Only about 365ish days to go!

I'm switching from Android and I do want an Apple Watch, what do you guys recommend. Buy the 6 or wait for the 7?
Not in a hurry, because I can still use my Galaxy Watch until then, but I'm note sure usually the recommendation is "wait for the latest" but the hardware is almost the same... so.

It’s not the exact same SOC

I am, but only because my boyfriend still has my old series 3, so going to 6 will be a nice upgrade for him and gives me a good excuse to get the bigger screen (my eyes are so bad) and also upgrade to SS.

Given that the series 7 shares the same size battery, processor and many other attributes of the series 6, I see no reason for me to upgrade. If there had been substantive battery life increase, that would have been cause for me to spend money on the series 7. As it stands, the series 7 doesn't offer anything really beneficial to me.
