So "pro" means an additional camera? I am one of the last people to say what will and won't happen in the Apple universe but I also echo the "Please don't do this." As one mentioned, having a iPhone 7 Plus Pro and then the iPhone 7S Plus Pro is swan diving over the naming scheme line.

Hopefully, if they do plan on adding another camera (water resistance first please), it is just part of the "Plus" lineup and they don't create another price point.

iPhone 'Pro" hahahahaha oh dear. Seriously? Well Samsung have launched an A9 'Pro' and I think other phones have used the tag before. But it is daft. Just stick to the plus, although I have a feeling Apple is going to announce a 'Pro' range of iOS devices with beefed up specs and big price increases to fit the 'Pro' moniker.

Agreed. This whole naming scheme is ridiculous.

You assume that Apple would look to anyone, least of all Samsung, for inspiration as to the design and marketing of their products, perhaps? The exact opposite is, in fact, the case. Apple does what Apple does, period.

Now listen up, rumor sheep:

#1 There ain't gonna be no "iPhone Pro" (haven't we learnt ANYTHING about how Apple work, over the years?!)

#2 There ain't no "Apple car", either.

Stop latching onto EVERYTHING you read, and then reacting to it as if it were fact. LOL! :D

Wow. Another Tim Cook move where you're really getting lesser and lesser of what you pay for. You have to pay an even higher premium just to have the upgrade you're "supposed" to be getting.

I dislike the "Pro" terminology and I don't think it's fitting for a phone. Don't get me wrong, I hate "Plus" even more.

Ever since Apple started splitting its phone lineup, I've thought they should use car model lingo. After all, there always seems to be the comparisons of iPhones to cars when it comes to engineering, design, etc. "iPhone SE" sounds like such a naming convention. They need to do away with the numbered models and just have iPhone (normal), iPhone SE (cheap), and perhaps iPhone XL (Plus). If not XL, then something that sounds premium, usually consisting of the letters E, K, L, M, S, or X.

So maybe iPhone Sport for the cheapie. Goes along with the watch, right? Then, iPhone Brougham for the big guy. Oh yes, people will know you mean business. It can come with an exclusive ringer announcing its superiority. I'm personally looking forward to the GT Turbo Sport Pro Plus Targa II.

Kind of validates my point...

If it keeps being brought-up, then people care about the products' names.
I wasn't referring to the product name ... I was referring to "but it's the 10th iPhone and it's called 7" comments.

Oh. Still doesn't make the most sense and is definitely not the most elegant solution they could have come-up with.

You're right, they could have simpler names.
The 3G ruined it all, since it was basically an original iPhone with 3G capabilities. It wouldn't have been worthy of the name "iPhone 2" like the iPad 2 was. The 4 brought it back on track, but the 4s ruined it again.

With all the recent changes in names, this is the year with the highest chances of a name change, although still unlikely.

The rumored high-end iPhone 7 Plus with dual cameras could be named the "iPhone Pro," according to questionable information shared by Chinese website MyDrivers [Google Translate]. Apple is reportedly considering the name to distinguish the device from the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, said to include standard single-lens cameras.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously suggested Apple is working on two versions of the iPhone 7 Plus, one with a single-lens camera and one with a dual-lens camera, to be sold alongside an iPhone 7 with a single-lens camera. That rumor itself sounds questionable as it would splinter Apple's iPhone lineup, but Kuo firmly believes that is Apple's plan and has mentioned it in two separate research notes.

In recent months, MyDrivers has shared several details on the iPhone 7 and the iPhone SE, but as neither device has launched, the site's accuracy is still in question. Apple has used the same general number-based naming scheme for its lineup of flagship iPhones since the iPhone 3G launched in 2008, so the information provided by MyDrivers should be viewed with some skepticism until confirmed by a source with a solid track record.

It's possible rumors of an iPhone Pro are surfacing due to the unique name Apple's 4-inch iPhone is expected to adopt -- iPhone SE -- and the rumored naming plan for the next-generation 9.7-inch iPad. The device will reportedly be branded as an iPad Pro rather than an iPad Air 3, naturally leading to speculation that Apple could make the same shift in its iPhone lineup.

The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are not expected to debut until the fall of 2016, but multiple details about the devices have already leaked. In addition to an iPhone 7 Plus version with dual cameras, both devices are rumored to include a water resistant body, no headphone jack, and a design that does away with the rear antenna bands and protruding camera.

As I was re-reading this article...this iphone 7 plus pro is dual lens whereas iphone 7 and 7plus is SINGLE?!!
Apple..you're telling me to go buy Samsung s7 edge.....

I hate to say it, but the iPhone is getting to expensive. Base price + a premium for more storage + a premium for Plus size + a premium for a better camera = far to much for a phone. A $1000 phone will be the straw that makes me jump ship.
I have been dispointed with the iPhone camera for the last two years, so a base model without the upgraded camera is not an option for me to purchase.
Apple is telling me to go to Samsung s7 edge..

Yes, that's what it says. It would be immensely stupid.

I know, right? This is consumer predatorial-s***. I like apple stuff, but I'm not blind to buying it senselessly.
This might be a rude awakening for apple.

1) I'd like to see them add a level of products under the "Amateur" moniker
Ie. 'iPad Amateur", "MacBook Amateur", "iMac Amateur"

2) would like to see a Pro version of the MacBook Pro---either the "Pro MacBook Pro" or the "MacBook Double Pro"

Great. Now I can start paying $949 for my phone, meanwhile Samsung offers their top-of-the-line phone with a bunch of freebies.

Unless Apple starts the iPhone line at 32GB making the 64GB/128GB and 128GB/256GB 7 Plus the Pro models. That would be smart since there'd be more incentive to upgrade when a lot of users can get by with 32GB.
