i predict House and Cuddy get married by the end of the show. either that or House dies. i know, pretty different endings but they are either going to end it in a very happy way or very dark and sad way.

My money's on dark and sad.

BTW ... Did anyone look closely at the Kutner shot in the finale? I wonder if they pulled it from another episode.

yea i noticed that too. but i remember reading somewhere that he came back and did that. he is still going to be making guest appearances but only when his schedule allows.

Hmm, I thought I read on Ausiello that Kuttner's appearance was hashed together from previous footage. Could be wrong though.

I've had some time to pontificate. Why would they take House to a psychiatric hospital? He hasn't been previously treated psychiatrically and most doctors will try everything possible before admitting people to a psychiatric hospital. In my experience, people do not go to psychiatric hospitals to get well, they go because there are no other options. They drug the patients and let them go when they're stable. House must have been very depressed and exhausted with his hallucinations to agree to it. Psychiatric illnesses are inherently idiopathic which House hates. I wonder if the hospital they work at has no psychiatric facilities? Most hospitals have at least a few beds for psychiatric patients. Something odd about the whole thing. It almost had that bellevue look, like an old gothic hospital he was walking into.

Mental health care was deinstitutionalized in the 20th century with the advent of psychiatric drugs and the tendency of doctors is to avoid hospitalization whenever possible. Some asylums were actually said to be more humane in the 1800s than many current psychiatric hospitals are today.

In a psychiatric hospital, there is very little exploration or science. Believe me, no doctor is going to examine your psyche, they couldn't care less that your best friend's girlfriend died or that your colleague committed suicide. They have only several classes of medications from which to choose, and they almost always use antipsychotics in hospitals. It's basically a chemical restraint, granted it can lessen hallucinations because it lessens everything.

I'll be curious to see how they portray his healing there. Especially now that they are doing promotions with NAMI.

Someone, either Cuddy or Wilson, mentioned one or two episodes ago that they could get him in a hospital for rehab under an assumed name so he wouldn't lose his license. I'm thinking this is the place.

Ahh makes sense.

I just downloaded that rolling stones song "As tears go by" from the end of the finale. At first I was trying to guess the artist and I was thinking maybe ben harper or a beatles song, I was really surprised it was a rolling stones song. I really haven't heard a lot of the stones as I am a bit younger and I have just seen mick jagger on tv concerts etc doing their louder, rockier songs. I could have gotten into them as a band if they had stayed with the more melodic, folksy sound of "as tears go by."

The version in the episode is a cover, purportedly by the Vitamin String Quartet, though I'm fairly confident they're in fact using the old Marianne Faithful version. Better than the original, imo, her voice simply suites the song far better.

All in all, a great tune, though.

I listened again and dont know it could be anything other than the stones version. I listened to all of the marianne faithful previews of that song on itunes I could find and none of them sounded manly enough to be the one in the show. I previewed the vitamin string quartet but there is no singing in that version (from the 30 second snippet at least). Do you think they used a different version on the show than is online for licensing issues. Otherwise I couldn't understand the discrepancy. It sounds fairly clear cut to me. This is where I saw it:

It's definitely the Stones on the Hulu version. My memory though is that the two times I saw it on TV (on Fox and then the rerun on USA a couple of nights ago), it was definitely not the Stones. (Take my word for it, I'm an old enough codger to remember this song the first time it went round, which also means I'm old enough to have a faulty memory. ::) )

Sometimes a show only gets the rights for the original airing and not transfers to other media (which might also mean Hulu). My son who has a crazy memory for background music noticed that AC/DC wasn't playing in a My Name is Earl scene on the DVD that played when the show was on TV.

I really don't know what to do since the series has no finished but the last few episodes were certainly worth watching.

So does everyone think that Series 6 will start with him coming out cured? Or an emergency which requires house!

I really did enjoy this series but can't see how we can have anymore twists and turns?

Anyone think there will be any new characters for the new series?

What sort of characters would everyone like to see replace kuttner?

I want someone funny who has a serious side. I would like someone to wind up house, play tricks on him which I would think that would keep him entertained as I feel wilson has become disconnected over this series!

After listening to the song in the show, and the original Stones version again, I think it must be the same song. None of the VSQ stuff I've ever listened to has had vocals, so it can't be that...

I got thrown off because the version of the song I initially heard was a live recording of the Stones, and the voice sounds totally different from the studio version.

Does anyone know when the next Season starts? And has anyone ever bought a season on DVD? Where do you get that the cheapest?

Season six will start in September. As for the DVD, try Amazon. You can often rent the DVDs, too.

This is slightly OT but as it is summer hiatus I just watched Swimming Upstream--it is very good, especially for a sports movie which I don't normally like--and features our very own Jesse Spencer. I actually rented it from iTunes. I liked it all except the sort of goofy filming style of split screens in the racing scenes. But he's actually a good actor--as were all the performers in the movie, I thought.

yea dude that movie is tight. its got Geoffrey Rush in it right. He is such a good actor. he's also a pretty cool guy. i did some sound editing work for him. really nice guy. i gotta say he was a little creepy tho. he was like your girl friend (now fiance) is so hot and he was always checking her out. it was pretty funny tho.

if you want another movie with a House cast member that isnt bad…well that depends what your taste in movies is…watch Love & Basketball w/Omar Epps. i watched it a little while back and it's weird seeing him like that. he is a good actor tho in my opinion. it's too bad that i hate Foreman now but he's great in that movie.

John Cho anyone ... as Kutner's medical school roomate.

that would be interesting cause he was in an ep of House. he had a jaw problem and was an asphyxiophiliac. i believe it is also the ep where Cameron makes House go on a date with her. so i dont know how they would explain that to the House faithful. personally, i wouldnt really care, i think John Cho would be great.

Yeah I like him a lot. It would be tough to forget that episode he was in - it was indeed the ep where House went on a date w/ Cameron. Good ep - but as a fan, I would be ok with taking a don't ask don't tell policy on Cho.

Jesse Spencer said in some interview--forget where--that he would be getting more air time the next season, it could be he rehires someone from the old team.

This is what I assumed. Bring Chase or Cameron back to the team. Or, some terrible pandemic of random ass diseases hits New Jersey, and he needs to take both!

Well it could be both as House will be out. They might have two plotlines going, one with House in the mental hospital and one with the cases. In which case, it would be very interesting to see a married couple leading or on the team and the tensions that would cause. So funny the show made them get married after they broke up in real life. ;)
