I had some people over for football, and we ordered Papa John's (mmmm garlic butter sauce!). Pepperoni and black olives is what I ordered. I like Hawaiian too, though.

I'm not a big fan of pizza, but I do strongly prefer that it's made with real mozzarella cheese. I can't stand the stuff they sell at the national chain pizza stores. The best restaurant pizza I've ever eaten was at Giordano's in Chicago. I've tried most of the other big name Chicago pizza places, but Giorando's was the best by a mile (for the pizza only, the other stuff I had there was so-so). Since I'm only in Chicago about 3 times a year, the rest of the time I make pizza at home.

As for toppings, I prefer vegetarian pizzas (eggplant/aubergine, zucchini/courgette, tomato, etc). Really nice things to put on pizza: arugula and spinach. Necessary: fresh (not pickled or dry) jalapenos.

Best pizza I ever had was from a little joint in Dillion, Colorado. Pizza 10 or something I think it was called. Thick, great sauce, great cheese. Ate half a large by myself. :D

But on a more regular basis, I'm a huge fan of Little Caesars cheese pizza. I'm kind of boring that way.

I like mine baked in a real wood fire oven. Pizza just tastes better when it's baked in a real wood fire oven.

Little Seizures?? That's the only chain pizza I refuse to eat. :gag:

A little pizza place opened across the street from my office recently. They have a lunchtime deal: $6 for a large one-topping hand-tossed.

Looks like folks are pretty passionate about their pizza!
Interesting to see the different perspectives on chains and varieties

Wish I had some for breakfast this morning!

I'm from NYC and I love pizza. My favorite pizza is from a pizzeria in Flushing, Queens, NY but I like most of the chain pizzas too (although not as much obv).

The best pizza in Queens are A & J Pizza on Austin Street in Forest Hills and Baybridge Pizza in Bayside.

In Chicago, it's usually round.

Right now, Neapolitan pizza or similar. Here in Grand Rapids I like this bakery a few blocks from my house.

I live near G.R.

What bakery are you talking about?

I used to work at a local pizza joint when I was in High School. It was quite good.

It is really hard for me to find a pizza I don't like. Lately my favorite chain is Threee Brothers and JEts.
In Chicago we like Giordano's. I haven't had Geno's or Uno's in Chicago.

As for toppings I like any and everything. Including anchovies from time to time.

I can't remember the last time I ordered a pizza because I make it myself at home. It's way better than any delivery place.

I buy Trader Joe's Garlic and Herb raw pizza dough. I divide it into two portions because I like to make two thin crust pizzas with it instead of one thick crust pizza.

I quickly sauté some diced onion, yellow peppers, and garlic in a pan before I put it on the pizza. I also put fresh slices of mushrooms, and sometimes slices of zucchini. Sometimes I sauté some chicken and put that on the pizza as well.

I top it off with mozzarella and parmesan, and brush the crust with some olive oil.

Hmmm...... maybe I'll be making that for dinner tonight.....

Oh yeah, I do like the pizza at Angelino Cafe (3rd and Robertson).

Most pizza I'll eat. Love NY style, Chicago, I'm a pizza whore and will eat it no matter. Currently have a spinach a feta cheese pizza from leftovers in the fridge.

Tuna on pizza though...not ever happening.

If you are not from New York or New Jersey you have no idea what a true Pizza is.

For people from Chicago a Pizza = a Pot Pie.

If you're from NJ I think you're fooling yourself into thinking NY pizza is your pizza. Stick to cheesesteaks please. :D

Me, locally (before I left) it was Barone's Pizza. There is deep history there and something wonderful about it being the only one. I've yet to find an amazing pizza in NC. I do enjoy getting the dough from Trader Joe's and making my own.

Sorry, Philadelphia owns the cheesesteak. New Jersey is known for a chemically smell and these douchers.

When it comes to pizza, I'm a carnivore. I like the classics like pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, etc. No green stuff for me. :) When I try a new pizza place, I usually try something simple like single topping pepperoni or sausage. It makes a good baseline comparison.

Locally, there are a couple of places I like. One is staffed by a bunch of hippies and is fun. Last time I was in there, there was an employee wearing a NORML shirt. I think I was the only one to catch it and joke about it, which he found amusing. There is another good place right down the road from my office that is really good. It's called Pizza Shack, and it isn't much more than a shack. There are maybe 8 tables or so inside. The best pizza I ever had was some hole in the wall joint in Miami Beach. My mom lived there for a few years during my teenage years. She knows how much I love pizza, so she took me there one summer while I was visiting. The place was run by an older Italian dude originally from NY. He had his whole family helping out. I can't remember the name of the place, but I do remember the pizza. Simply amazing.
