the only product from apple that you need to worry about getting a good one first is a mac pro/macs. Both iPad and iPhone can be sold with little to no loss at all in order to get the new one when they come out. So if a new redesigned iPhone comes out on in June ill sell my 4S and get it. no biggie.

Nothing we can do about technology progressing. That's the way the world works.

I'll be getting it whether it comes out in June or October. So it doesn't make a difference.

Why should any be livid. Anyone that wants one can purchase one if they have the money.

I wasn't offered an upgrade until 2 days after the 4s came out. I'll keep my 4 and wait for the redesign. I wasn't sure why I got a yearly upgrade but I'm not gonna use it anyways.

I upgraded from a 4 to 4S
Life goes on and you adapt to changes in technology

There are really more important things in my life than worrying about my phone

If that's the case than why did you feel the need to upgrade with not much differences?

You cannot expect to have the latest and great anything when you sign a two year contract in an industry that turns over its product line every 12 months.

As an AAPL shareholder, I will be livid if they don't offer an upgrade in about a year. As an iPhone user, I'll happily figure out a way to upgrade for little cost by negotiating credits from my carrier, and by selling my old iPhones on the open market ASAP after the new iPhone is in hand. Of course, that assumes the 4S to 5 changes will be worth it. The addition of Siri alone, not to mention a better still camera and 1080p video, made the recent upgrade a must have IMHO.

I wouldn't be too bothered by it. I ended up on the "s" plan anyway. iPhone, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4s....

JMO - i think the next release will be an LTE-enabled phone, which probably won't happen until late next year

I wouldn't be mad, I'd preorder it. :) I got the 4S at retail so I have an upgrade available then.

Wouldn't be bitter at all. In fact, I fully expect a redesigned iPhone next summer. Redesigned for the better, though? We'll have to wait and see. It shouldn't affect the functionality of my 4S in the least.

OP, I would order it on the 1st day. :) I saved my upgrade for the next one. I used my dad's upgrade this time to get the 4S (which I still haven't received yet). :)

I would have been more livid had Apple dropped the price of the iPhone by $200 after two months like they did four years ago. I remember so many people got so mad who bought it for $600 originally that Apple offered a $100 giftcard that still went to their store.

But I expect the new pricing cycle to be in three segments instead of two. Latest iPhone gets priced at $199 or higher. Last year's model gets priced at $99. And two-year old model either goes FREE or $49. So I expect the iPhone 4 I got for launch day for over $299 to be cheap again next year and I expect my mom to get a 4S at $49 or less with contract by 2013. Before you know it, a year or two passes by and your current iPhone that you love now is part of the discount bin. This whole redesign stuff is just a phase and temporary ego trip. Next year's latest iPhone will be part of that discount bin by 2014.

Not me, I'm upgrading to the next iPhone once it comes out  I'll be eligible for an upgrade on my line by then.

Why would we be livid? I'd be ecstatic if a new iPhone was released in less than a year's time. I can't wait for LTE (Verizon - no simultaneous voice & data currently).

I'll sell my 4S on eBay for $300+ just like I've done every time a new model iPhone comes out and buy the new model at early upgrade pricing. No big deal, and certainly nothing to be livid about. I'll gladly pay a couple hundred bucks a year (after selling the old model) to always have the current model, but that's me. No way I want to go more than a year with the same phone - ever.
