Not at all. 8 months is a long time in tech.

Look at the announcement Moto and Verizon made today. They are releasing the RAZR a month after releasing the Bionic. Now that is crazy.

No more crazy than this: Android Devices 2011 and counting...

It just gets added to the pile.

The number of ho-hum Android devices if laid end to end can stretch from New York to Philly. By the end of 2012 to Miami. When the Maya predicted the end of the world, it was by drowning in the flood of Android. By the end of 2014 the number of mediocre Android devices will cirlce the Earth. At this point if you apply Moores Law to Android, an astronaut will be able to walk from Cape Canaveral to the moon on the the back of Android devices discarded in land fills.

At that point Google and it's member partners will have so many devices in play that the members of Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists will be forced to set the Doomsday clock to One minute to Midnight.

Android will crush itself under all it's own weight of mostly one trick ponies.

Wouldn't care at all. My 4S is a great phone. The iPhone 5 will be a great phone. I don't have to have it on launch day. I don't even care if I wait until the 5S or whatever. Heck, I loved the 3GS I just replaced. I'm totally fine with buying whatever the latest version is every 2 years.

I don't know how they could call it the "iPhone 5." It would be the iPhone 6 as the 4S is the fifth generation iPhone.

Why not call it the iPhone 5? The fifth generation iPhone isn't called the iPhone 5, so your assumtions are already faulty. So we can only assume that Apple won't name iPhones on generation. The only pattern we have seen are they make a model, then add an S(for special?) and then move on to the next number iPhone.

Id be disappointed if there was none in 2012

Not exactly sure how you even came up with the prospect of JUNE 2012 as the next model release. Is it because October 2012 wouldn't be controversial enough?

I'll be happier I'd iPhone 5 is released at the end of the month. Why, we were all expecting it to be released together with iPhone 4S, weren't we? It's good that many of us already have what we want, but I haven't got what I wanted yet, and am still waiting. Choices are good. We get the screen size we each prefer.

More content can be seen with a bigger screen. That's why.

This is true, but, the way the OS handles the content is far more important than screen size. I think my iPhone is far easier to navigate in Safari than a Droid X, and my iPhone is just barely bigger than the screen itself on the X.

But I like my phone to be as small as possible, but to not be so small that it's hard to use. I think the iPhone 4/4S is a perfect balance between the two. The last thing I want to carry around in my pocket is a brick-sized phone.

Making it bigger, thinner, curved, etc. and I wouldn't have purchased it.
Easy to say now. I sent back my 4 as it just felt fragile to me...not only had to worry about breaking the front, NOW I had to worry about breaking the back too?!? I said "I'll never buy the new one if they keep the same design".

BTW, I'm LOVING my new 4S

There is ZERO chance that Apple will release the next iPhone next summer. June would be 9 months after the 4S was released. The 4S is off to an absurdly hot start. Apple has no reason to give us a new iPhone that soon.

I'm confident the next iPhone comes in the fall of 2012 and will feature roughly an identical form factor except thinner and a 4" retina display.

Increased competition. I think they are considering summer.

I wouldn't care. It's a good amount of time to be waiting, and my next upgrade isn't until November next year. My last phone was an HTC Thunderbolt, and I suppose it could have lasted until June, but whatever.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

I always buy the latest and sell my old one. Right now i can't get subsidized price till end of November. No problem i wanted the 4s now so i bough it for $850 and will be selling my iPhone 4. I don't plan to wait till 6/2012 to use my subsidy...no I will use it ASAP come end of November and sell that phone for profit. When the iPhone 5 comes out I'll repeat the process.

If you don't understand why i do this you should really try too. Anytime you qualify for a subsidy and don't use it cause your saving it is like giving money away to your carrier that should have gone to your pocket.

If Apple increases the screen size, I'm a buyer.

Now that they've learned how to make a phone & antenna combo that works, I'm enthused again.

Too bad they screwed up, got greedy, and stuck with the tiny display for the 4S.

Livid? I'd be elated. Even fall/2012 is ok with me.

The 4s is a tulip, admit it. There is no logical reason for the mad rush to participate in this bubble other than people's need to buy something, anything after hoping so badly for the redesign.

Throw in a bigger display; 4" (or more), a non-glass back, maybe a bigger battery, and I'd be content

Well we certainly know what your agenda is.

My compliments.

haha... well I'll be happy... I've just picked up my 64gb 4s on a 12 month contract hahahaha which I will then put straight onto ebay...

not at all, even with getting the 4S, I expect that anyway.
everyone see's the trend of releasing a phone every year, most of the time in the summer.
