Not at all. 8 months is a long time in tech.
Look at the announcement Moto and Verizon made today. They are releasing the RAZR a month after releasing the Bionic. Now that is crazy.
I don't know how they could call it the "iPhone 5." It would be the iPhone 6 as the 4S is the fifth generation iPhone.

More content can be seen with a bigger screen. That's why.
Easy to say now. I sent back my 4 as it just felt fragile to me...not only had to worry about breaking the front, NOW I had to worry about breaking the back too?!? I said "I'll never buy the new one if they keep the same design".Making it bigger, thinner, curved, etc. and I wouldn't have purchased it.
There is ZERO chance that Apple will release the next iPhone next summer. June would be 9 months after the 4S was released. The 4S is off to an absurdly hot start. Apple has no reason to give us a new iPhone that soon.
I'm confident the next iPhone comes in the fall of 2012 and will feature roughly an identical form factor except thinner and a 4" retina display.
Seems everyone still wants a redesigned iPhone despite the new release of the 4S. How would you react if that happened June 2012?
The number of ho-hum Android devices if laid end to end can stretch from New York to Philly. By the end of 2012 to Miami. When the Maya predicted the end of the world, it was by drowning in the flood of Android. By the end of 2014 the number of mediocre Android devices will cirlce the Earth. At this point if you apply Moores Law to Android, an astronaut will be able to walk from Cape Canaveral to the moon on the the back of Android devices discarded in land fills.
At that point Google and it's member partners will have so many devices in play that the members of Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists will be forced to set the Doomsday clock to One minute to Midnight.
Android will crush itself under all it's own weight of mostly one trick ponies.
