I have a note 9, my GF has a S9+ and we are on the same network. The signal is at least as good and side by side with my Note 9. Did i tell you 4x4 mimo is excellent too ;-) Also i can get wifi further from my house than the note 9.

You’d be better off not bashing the max and enjoy whatever phone you have.

At no time did I 'bash' the Xs Max. My post was based on my experience and I said a number of times the Xs Max was my first choice.

Enjoy your phone.

I just find it amazing anyone who bought a XR look for as much reasons as they can to bash the iphone max, when in my own personal experience complete opposite of a lot of the stuff posted in the thread.

Its amazing to me how people are just justifying their individual purchases. If you look at just the pure facts the XS/XMAX is a much better phone than the XR. No need to list the facts again. It comes down to if you think the extra/better features are worth the money, period. If its a financial decision then go with the XR, if money is no object the XS/XMAX is the better phone. Also as a side note on text not being clear on the XR and optomization of apps etc, I see that on Safari the text is small and not clear so Apple itself released a phone without optimizing its own app? That I find hard to believe.

I personally go with the best and my XS is perfect.

I just watched the verge’s review of the new iPad pros and Nilay Patel said “the screen on the new iPad is way way better than the screen on the iPhone XR”

No I have NO signal problems, in fact my d/l speeds are the fastest I have ever seen in a smartphone on WiFi and Cellular. All depends on your location, for me NO problems.

There you go i didn’t think you would have.

I’ll have to check out that review. Did he specify what he preferred about the ipad’s display? Better color or something like that?

He mentioned the ppi being 200 and whatever and then he said it was Liquid Retina like the display on the XR but said that it was way way better than the display on the XR.

The poster couldn’t use the max because it gave her headaches.

The Max is beautiful. So is the XS. I bought an XR. So "anyone" doesn't include me. It's like arguing about the best food. It all comes down to personal taste.

Why did I choose the XR? Turns out I had visual issues with scrolling text on the OLED displays of the XS and Max. When testing the devices, I opened the News app, flicked to scroll up and down, and on the LCD the black text against the white background became grey and blurry as it flew by. On the OLED, it "juddered" instead, leaving deep black tracers and making me feel a bit dizzy. I thought I'd show the problem to my better half, but she didn't see it. The OLED was fine for her.

So it's me, not the phones... but my experience was real. So I chose the LCD screen. Doesn't make me right, or wrong. The LCD was better for me personally, that's all. And coming from an 8 with the same PPI, I found the XR text sharpness to be just fine.

...and yet you are doing exactly what you are accusing others of doing.. just enjoy what you have and leave it alone already. No one needs to justify anything to anyone else!

Lol i wasn’t justifying anything, i don’t need to. So when someone says they can’t see the difference between the 2 screens and i give an opinion that i can in favour of the max i’m bashing the xr?

Personally I find the screen on the old iPad Pros way better than the display on the XS & MAX. But I don’t know the reason and that might just be me. It’s no more than personal preference.

I’ve also seen the above review. And there was no reason given as to why the iPad was “way better”. Without that it’s no more than a personal opinion.

I did see the review, and I really wish he’d explained why he finds the iPad’s display superior. The conclusion itself isn’t surprising (iPad Pro displays have been lauded frequently in the past). I just want to know what - exactly - the iPP does that the XR doesn’t.

I recall that the iPP’s display is laminated (and presumably the XR’s isn’t)...maybe that has something to do with it?

Maybe it could be looking at a much larger display is more pleasing to the eye?

I think the whole review was leaning towards his opinion as he was berating iOS for not adapting to fit his needs and needing work arounds.

Maybe some people’s really can’t see the difference? I suppose it depends on your eye sight but also where you’re doing the viewing. At the Apple store or a carrier store, where all the phones are on display mode and under all the lighting it might be difficult to really see any differences.

The display on my 8+ was way sharper than my current XR.

The display is good but not good enough for my needs and I want to return it ASAP for the XS. How much of a difference will i notice especially with like black text and stuff?

Just go and buy one, why ask here as you have different opinions, for instance I think it’s laughable to try and claim the 8 Plus screen is ‘way sharper’ then the XR.
But that is in mine and yours ‘opinions’. I personally much prefer my XR screen over all other iPhones including the XS Max as it looks crap with True Tone on, again IMO.

They are your eyes, it’s your brain attached to them converting what they see to your mind. That’s why I say you’ll have to buy one and try it yourself to find out for certain. Everyone’s is different..

Rriiigggghhhtttttt.... even though it uses the EXACT SAME screen technology with a LOWER PPI.
And again I wouldn’t believe a word people on here or reviews claim when it’s an Apple screen, I let my own eyes do the talking..

An awful lot of these Apple reviewers are fake, because they will say wonderful fantastic things and won’t highlight the bad things, that way they keep getting those early review units and invited to those Apple events thus driving up their viewers or readership numbers.
And Apple are by no means the only company they do this for either..

Agree, the old iPad pros look stunningly good. When I watch netflix, the video quality is beautiful. Oled, in my opinion is overrated. Wish apple just stuck with LCD and kept refining it. That would had kept the price of the phone down significantly.

I noticed this issue right when I switched to Max for a brief period. Couldn't stand the scrolling on the OLED.
[doublepost=1541534242][/doublepost]All this in-fighting. Sholdn't we just join forces and fight the real enemy, Android? Haha

Which older iPad pros are we talking about?
