Mac ages

The oldest Mac I own is a gradually souped up Powermac G3 300 mhz. I just maxed out the hard drive and will be installing a lot more RAM up to a gig soon.

The most recent Mac I own is the G4 iBook 1 Ghz. I really like it although I need to upgrade that. Right now it's devoted to ripping.

My favorite device is still the 300 mhz Tangerine clamshell iBook. Ironically I love it because it is rugged and more so than my Powerbook I own. I love the Powerbook don't get me wrong but it isn't very rugged looking nor its battery life is long.

I love the clamshell iBook. Its battery life is incredible and with OEM batteries it could be much longer considering that a lot of flights can last awhile...

:D iMac G5 2.0 w/2gigs Ram: going to be hitting 1 year in may, love the machine. I like the look better than the new model. There is something classic about it. The front row and isight was a good addition plus all the goodies inside. But this machine will do me fine for a while. I will only get rid of it if that crazy rumor is true about a 30th aniversery 30" iMac. I will be one of the first putting my order in for it. Other than that I wouldnt trade it for the same spec G5 tower and 20" ACD.

iBook G4 1.42 1 gig ram: going to be a year as well in may, great powerfull system. Served me well for small home recording and demo'ing with band in garage band with a m-audio interface.

thinking of ebaying or marketplacing it, and throw a little extra with what i get for it for a 12" 1.5 PB. I like the size it will go everywhere and only needs one hand to cary it. The 14" is great but im starting to think id rather have a 12" PB. if anyone is interested jmwest@mac.com :D

Soon to be MacBook Pro in April. Enough Mac to last me a while, i'lljust dool over the new things.

OK, lets start with the oldest -

PowerBook 3400c with 240Mhz 604e, 48Mb RAM, 2Gb HDD, OS 9.1 - 8 years old, still going strong

G4 Cube with 1.6Ghz G4, 1.25Gb RAM, 120Gb HD, 16x Superdrive, Panther - 6 years old

PowerBook G4 12" 1Ghz G4, 512Mb RAM, 40Gb HD, Combo Drive, Tiger - 3 Years old

iMac G5 ALS 2Ghz G5, 1Gb RAM, 160Gb HD, SuperDrive, Tiger - 6 Months Old

MacBook Pro 1.83Ghz, 512Mb RAM, 80Gb HD, SuperDrive, Tiger - 1 Day Old!!!! and this is being posted from it!!!

The only Mac I own is a G4 iMac. Coming up to 4 years old. Desperately needs a ram upgrade - I'm running Tiger with 256mb ram. Not the nicest but the computer's still in perfect condition with absolutely nothing wrong with it;)

I'll play too... Mac mini 1.42ghz model. Not at home so can't check the exact build date, but should be just about a year old now.

I also just bought a 7-8 year old Wallstreet. :p I figure if I have an old laptop I have an excuse to upgrade to a newer one, right?

MacBook Pro 1.83GHZ - 3 days old.
Dell Inspiron notebook (P4) - 3.7yrs old.
Just sold my dual Opteron box a few days ago, it was 1.2yrs old.

12" iBook, just a little over a year old.
After using the quad G5's in the computer lab at my school, it feels much slower and older...

PowerMac G5 - 10 months old

PowerBook - 23 months old

PowerMac G4 - 4 years old

Mac Mini - 11 months old

and, wait...

Mac Color Classic 13 years old - as good as the day I bought it.

My current system is just over 2 years old now - 17" 1.25 GHz G4 iMac. I haven't had one issue with it and expect to be using it for at least another couple of years. Or, until my 20" Conroe iMac with Blu Ray, 500 GB HDD, 2 GB RAM, 802.11n and Leopard pre-installed comes out. ;)

Haha, Well my Intel iMac is brand new...:D I haven't had a new Mac ever, all of mine have been refurbished or used so this is a new thing for me. My PowerBook 12" G4 (867mhz Rev A) is older though, it's still a good machine but...the Intel iMac is used when I need to do something...and fast ;) :)

My PowerBook G4 17" 1GBx1 120GB Rev E is 12 days old. It feels like I've had it forever. I. Love. This. Machine.

My sawtooth G4 is 6 years old and still runs pretty well.

I upgraded it to 1GHz with a Sonnet card.
Ram upped to 1.38 GB
SCSI card
USB card
8x DVD burner
Ati 9800pro 128 card
2 Hard Drives (120, 80 GB)

Bus speed is my biggest setback right now. This will be put to rest once the new Powermacs come out.

Decided to revive this thread to see what those who posted before are using now.

I've got a macbook C2D that's 9 months old and a powermac cube that's 7 years old but a few months old to me.

I'm wondering why this got relegated to the powermac/mac pro section.

Mine is 3 years old (PowerMac G5, brought in july 2004). I hope it will least for minimum another 3 years...

Got it on 6th of June 05.
