Samsung is going to have a very hard time catching up to the iPhone. The X is phenomenal in every respect - a massive leap forward. The A11 CPU is a beast. The 2018 models likely going to raise the bar a good amount. Imagine what the A12 will bring. The new Samsung models are very nice phones, and great options if you need the flexibility of Android. But I have no doubt the 2018 iPhones will be the best-built, best-performing, most polished smartphones available.

Could we have smaller phones please. Not all desire to carry an iPad mini around.

Meh, some of us don’t like these feminine size phones. Give me a plus model size phone. I can’t stand feminine tiny phones. Some guys do though. To each their own I guess.

There's no doubt Samsungs hardware is top notch in fairness and software ui, and lag seems to be gone, they are the best android phone for sure, most notably the new note 9, but like others have said it's the ecosystem and integration of hardware and software with apps made specifically for ios, it's hard to beat, from the 6s up iphones fly and are a pleasure to use. Me I'll be going from my 8 plus to a new X in a couple of weeks.

Catching up?

The iPhone probably faces more competition from their older models than the latest and greatest that Samsung has to offer.

Apple has practically lapped Samsung many times over. There is no contest. The smartphone wars are over. Apple won.

Somebody get me what this guy is smoking! Dang, that's gotta be some strong reality distorting herb.

Sure.

Maybe you don’t notice it the same way iPhone X users don’t really notice the notch?

There is a light source in each of your photos that is enhancing that glare. Try removing that light source or move the phone’s edge away. I don’t have the galaxy but I get glare on my iPhone and my flat screen tv depending on the light source. Just saying.

Being tied to the Apple ecosystem, it doesn’t matter what’s out there. I got the X but if the “X Plus” is better, I am sure it will be my next iPhone when it comes out. :D

Does anyone have the actual dimensions of the dummy units? Screen size is a terrible metric these days with differing aspect ratios. I can't tell how the 7/8 plus compare to the new sizes.
About the same as the plus models i think it might be like a millimeter smaller but it’s basically the same

And what can the Note do that the upcoming iPhone X plus can’t?? With supposed Apple Pencil support.

I’d rather have a notch than top and bottom bezels. Apples design wins. Note 9 like I’ve said before is a S9 with a stylus. Nothing new here.
Heh, and the S9 gives you the reach around for the unlock.

Come on..there always be light..or you use the note 9 only in darkness?!

I like the idea of the 6.1 screen size. The 6.5 is too big. Bit the 6.1 being thr “low cost” model means losong some feature (lcd screen)... so... bummer. I think the slightly bigger screen over the 5.8 would be cool...

It WILL be my next phone when it is released. I do like to keep up with what's out there just so when someone says Essential or One Plus I know what the heck they're referring to. But I have zero interest in actually owning something else. Not a fanboy, just someone who prefers to be in the Apple ecosystem.

To be fair, a proper comparison of the 2018 iPhone should be done with the galaxy s10, since the note lineup was merely their "phablet" line with little to no change in specs from the s lineup other than the display size. Poor strategy by Samsung and will be corrected in 2019 by eliminating note lineup and combining it to the S lineup.

Hahahaha. So the only way for Samsung to compete is to compare 2018 iPhones to 2019 Samsung’s, that’s supposed to be fair.

But I agree the s9/note 9 are dated and the s10 should get rid of the extra bezels on the display.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 features a 6.4-inch display but Samsung has refused to embrace the notch, so it continues to feature bezels at the top and bottom.

Thank goodness for that. They should wait until they can figure out how to go full screen. The Note 9 is a nice powerful phone. (iPhone's are well well *powerful*)

iOS 12 gives the edge to the iPhone X.

What’s the point of the added ram if processing a video clears the memory for apps in the background.

Poor memory management compared to the year old iPhone.
