Come on..there always be light..or you use the note 9 only in darkness?!

I agree there will be a light source but it is not necessary that it will always be on the edge but those photos always had it on the edge. It’s just an observation buddy. I don’t like Samsung although if I was rich I would buy both galaxy and iPhone. Right now I have money for an iPhone X plus only.

Why would you waste your money if you don’t like Samsung.

That’s pretty cool, but personally, i would use an iPad Pro for everything you just described.

An iPhone would be to small, even a 6.4 inch model.

Two apps at 3.2 inch each that’s like going back to a blackberry torch display, no thank you.

It's very true that it's not ideal, but I always have my phone in my pocket, and when you're on a construction site, that counts for a lot.

Well at least you gave it a good test, plus the time to get accustomed to everything. 5 hours, what an embarrassment. :rolleyes:I would have at least kept it a couple of weeks.
Agreed. I always keep my galaxy phones for 2-3 months before I get rid of them.

There's no doubt Samsungs hardware is top notch in fairness and software ui, and lag seems to be gone, they are the best android phone for sure, most notably the new note 9, but like others have said it's the ecosystem and integration of hardware and software with apps made specifically for ios, it's hard to beat, from the 6s up iphones fly and are a pleasure to use. Me I'll be going from my 8 plus to a new X in a couple of weeks.
Why? They were announced at the same time. Wouldn’t it make more sense to wait until next month and get the next version? The X is as old as your phone.

True, would have snapped the pics on the iPhone and annotated them on my iPad Pro, Icloud photos keeps all my devices in sync. But I would just carry the iPad Pro with me.

Mind you I could annotate on the iPhone, but I wouldn’t on a small screen.

Well it’s not like I needed time to get used to it. I have a couple android devices laying around a pixel 2xl
and an S8+. I was just hoping the improved screen size and new Spen would be enough but it wasn’t.

Everyone should get the phone they feel most comfortable with, though i did want to point out that I also have sausage fingers and I'm writing this message solely with my right thumb on the G Board keyboard. I think you can get different keyboards on iPhones now, but swipe writing is so so much better and easier to me than hunt and peck

Yes swipe to type is awesome, and I’m not sure that type of keyboard is available on iOS yet or not.

Well fair enough if you have an S8 plus you know how a modern Samsung phone feels to use.

I usually know within the first two hours if it will fit in my work flow or not, especially a device that costs 1k.

Don’t know why you need weeks, it’s a phone not a puzzle.

Enough for what exactly. I'm baffled as to why if you have a Pixel 2XL and an S8+ why you would even order the Note. Surely what you already have is enough phones for anyone.

Your post comes across like a kid staring in the sweet shop window wishing he could have what he is staring at.

Whereas I would be able to assess just from reading or watching a couple of reviews whether it would suit my needs, no need to bother ordering one.

Surely at the very most a trip down to a mobile phone shop to audition the product would suffice.

The pixel 2xl was a gift from my wife which is why I still have it, and the s8+ Is my work phone not sure why it matters though.

Where exactly do they win out on LTE? Where is this theoretical incremental increase in speed available on a day to day basis. And even if it were, how would the end user even feel a difference browsing the web, sending messages or streaming music. This is non-sense

Bone crushing dominance over the iPhone X. Don't forget boys and girls, Speed Kills!!! ;)

There really isn’t any.

Some posters are trying to compare a 2017 modem with a 2018 one, new iPhones with the 2018 modems should be here nexts month.

iOS 12 gives the edge to the iPhone X.

What’s the point of the added ram if processing a video clears the memory for apps in the background.

Poor memory management compared to the year old iPhone.

Pretty impressive for a year old iPhone. I suppose the Android fans will now say that these tests don’t matter anymore, just like they did with benchmarks. The Note looks awfully choppy and glitchy going through it’s paces too. The X Plus, which is the proper comparison to the Note 9, is going to move the iPhone even further past it in terms of performance.

Hhahahaa, 4K video editing on a phone? Yup, I need to do some 4K video editing on my phone, said nobody.
Take that out of the speed test, and the Note 9 (on old software) crushes the iPhone (on almost a year of optimization through software updates) all day every day. But let's forget the world dominating, bone crushing Note 9, lets look at even an older device, the Galaxy S9+. Again, same results. Win Win Win baby!!!

It’s funny both videos are using tmobile.

T-Mobile introduces band 71 at 600mhz last year, iPhone X doesn’t have it, the only phone in 2017 to support it was the lg v30 . All new 2018 phones support it though.

Guess you would have disclosed that if you weren’t trying to spread fud.

Restrictions in the OS.

Even the Android 8.1 Oreo Samsung Experience 9 can be configured to take various peripherals, including external HDDs. When I was out doing field work recently I could route just about everything through Moto e4 in ways my iPad/iPhone never could in the past. Didn't even need the laptop I brought most of the time. And if QGIS (QField) for Android was further along I'd likely not even need the laptop anymore.

Digital Camera connected to the phone by WiFi (yes iOS can do that to), and exported right to a LaCie Rugged Mini connected to the phone's MicroUSB port. Ya, even supplied enough power to run the spinning platters. Paragon's Microsoft exFAT/NTFS mounter is an amazing Android app/extension I don't think I'd ever want to give up. Lack of File System access in iOS is so crippling, always has been, and is a major factor as to why iOS devices can't be considered "Personal Computers".
I have a files app where I can store documents, images, etc.

I can even swipe to the left of home screen and search for anything I need to find in files, emails, pictures, etc.

To say that a note is a computer and an iPhone isn’t because of a “file explorer” is just silly.

Yeah probably because they can’t, well they can’t record more than 5 min of 4K @60fps.

And if they do, it clears the memory,

Here is a video of the iPhone X with ios 12 beta 8 vs the note 9.

The video you posted was with beta 2, that’s outdated And the s9 even though it’s pretty much the same phone as the note 9.

The note 9 is embarrassingly slow and that’s with a 2017 iPhone X, the 2018 will be released next month.

Enjoy your note 9.

LTE network is an easy win for most Qualcomm modems vs the inferior intel modem on the same bands. And I don’t mean just max dL speeds. Overall responsiveness just seems better. That is just from personal experience. Comparing my daughters iP6s sim free Qualcomm vs my ipx T-Mobile version on the same network

Pretty sad that a year old iPhone X is still faster than Sammy’s new flagship. The tests prove it and so do the benchmarks.

The A12 would be a fair comparison.
But sorry. There isn’t any comparison.

LOOOL, constantly playing catch up. "Just wait for the next update, just wait for the next iPhone..." That's all I hear. What's the point of talking beta? iOS is constantly in beta fixing one issue after the next. Constantly needing updates to fix what the last update broke. The phone is littered with bugs. It's a complete joke. $1000 for inferior hardware and unstable software that needs constant updates, only to have the updates eventually crap out your phone. Oh but that obtrusive notch, now there's the winning feature. Yup!! Nothing says premium like a unibrow getting in the way of your 5.3, oops, I mean 5.8 inch display.

Umm..Don’t they call that the “SE”?

Does the SE have "modern iPhone guts", etc or is it relatively old now?

And in context, I'm also desiring a bigger-screen model in a "5"-type body too.

The SE is basically the "5" with modestly newer guts. I was fantasizing about a bigger "5" phone with latest & greatest guts, while keeping things I liked about the 5 too. I wish I could buy THAT iPhone.
