I had the Premier tier for Apple One, but never really used News, Fitness, or Arcade much, and definitely never watched anything on AppleTV+. So just keeping drive space and Apple Music saves me $10. Maybe it's a small amount, but all this subscription crap adds up.

prices for EVERYTHING have gone up, esp those streaming subscriptions ...
if the price is NOT worth it to you - CANCEL, simple as that!

Apple has done quite good of keeping product prices constant this year, but this couldn't last forever, so get over it.
Apple's able to keep product prices constant because NAND/memory prices have been on the decline for the past couple years now. So even if other costs (e.g. TSMC chip manufacturing) go up, they make up the difference by not passing on the savings from decline NAND/memory chip prices.

That has allowed Apple to grow their margins. Their overall gross margins have gone from upper 30 percentage range to low-to-mid 40 percentage range.

Anyone know what happens when cancelling Apple One with iCloud storage. 4 of the 6 of our family sharing group is using over the free 5gb of storage. Planning on everyone in the family getting own iCloud plan and maybe just getting rid of the family sharing because there would be nothing to share. Would we lose data saved in iCloud if a day or 2 passes of not having an iCloud storage plan??

Planning to disband the family group because only 1 of the 6 of us wants Apple Music, and that person wants to do the yearly plan and see no option of doing it when having a family set up.

Thanks for the article. Have cancelled due to price gauging!
I'll be cancelling too after this cycle of renewal. Apparently my renewal which is in a few days doesn't indicate an increase, but I think the increase will come after this. Definitely cancelling. My News+ subscription went from 9.99 to 12.99; that's a 30% increase. WTH!

If news+ actually blocked all ads, that would be great, but I still see them everywhere…
You're so right and I had even forgotten that the ad thing is really an issue when thinking about the outrageous price increase! Given that not only are there ads everywhere but also they are huge, this 30% increase in price is really unreasonable. Definitely cancelling.

So apparently as per comments on this article, nobody is subscribing to anything anymore. And it doesn’t matter what site or what article. Disney plus increase? “I’m unsubscribing! That’ll show them”. Netflix? “Unsubscribing!” Hulu? Same crap. We going back to bunny ears antennas or what?

I’ve stopped being shocked at price increases and just been more focused on what I want. Have I not watched Netflix in a couple months? Suspend that. Am I watching a lot of Hulu? Cool. Who cares if there’s a price increase when I watch it all the time. I’m getting my value out of it.

Apple today announced significant price hikes for several of its services, including Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple News+. Because of the higher individual prices, the cost of the Apple One bundles have also increased.

In the U.S., Apple TV+ is now $9.99 per month, up from $6.99 per month. Apple Arcade+ is up $2 at $6.99, and Apple News+ is now priced at $12.99 per month, up from $9.99 per month. Apple One Individual and Family are $3 more expensive, while Premier is $5 more. Prices are going up in most countries where Apple services are available.

If you're unhappy with the new price points for Apple's services, it's quick and easy to cancel. Here's how on an iPhone or iPad:
  1. Open up the Settings app.
  2. Tap on your profile picture.
  3. Tap on Subscriptions.
  4. If you have Apple One, tap on "Cancel All Services" to end your subscription for every service. If you want to pick and choose certain ones to keep, tap on "Choose Individual Services."
  5. If you have individual subscriptions, tap on one of the subscriptions and choose the "Cancel Subscription" option.
  6. Tap on "Confirm" to go through with the cancelation.
After your subscription is canceled, your services will continue to be accessible until your next billing date. So if you paid for a year of Apple TV+, for example, it will be available until what you've paid for expires. Apple One can only be purchased on a monthly basis, so you'll have a month at most before access runs out.

If you need to cancel your subscription on your Mac, the process is similar. Open the System Settings app, click on your profile picture, select Media & Purchases, and choose "Manage" under the Subscriptions option. From there, you can follow the same steps listed above.

Apple's increased prices start today for new subscribers, but Apple is offering existing subscribers a 30-day grace period. After that 30 days, existing subscribers will see the new prices on their next renewal date. Apple is likely to send out emails ahead of the price hikes.

They're trying to offset poor sales of hardware.
Big mistake in my opinion, but time will tell......

Upset? As if nothing else has gone up in price outside the Apple ecosystem...
Huh? Being upset about this amount of increase is not related to price increases outside the Apple ecosystem. I haven't seen my NYT subscription raise in years. It's still at 10.99/month.

I have a totally different opinion 😊

Let's see here, we've got Apple Arcade, the games service for people who are overwhelmed by actual games, Apple News, where more space is taken up on screen by advertising than actual news, and Apple TV+, the streaming channel that brings you Ted Lasso, Ted Lasso, Charlie Brown, Ted Lasso, Ted Lasso, and oh yeah, like 70 other TV shows that no one talks about.

These are the best services they've ever created with an Apple logo on them, hands down.
For All Mankind was pretty good but wasn’t enough to get me to renew my subscription after the 3 month trial.

Yeah...nope at $38/mo.

Basically stopped using Fitness+. I use News+ for the crossword puzzle which I can get elsewhere. Arcade I use to find a random game to play, but there are plenty of games in the app store. Music I use occasionally, but I can get by without it (Maybe I'll go back to just buying music...does iTunes Match still exist?) And that leaves Apple TV+, which surprisingly I use the most out of the services, but most likely I'll cancel after the $9.99 jump.

So now I am just down to my $9.99 iCloud+ 2TB. Thanks Apple for saving me $28/mo! 😂
I must say, torrents are going to be making a huge comeback with a ridiculous amount of people that tried to do better with things like TV+ or even Music, which will obviously have a price hike soon as well.
As for TV+, it just goes with the price hikes from all the other streaming services, so yes, torrents will be back with an even bigger vengence.

Stupid companies shooting themselves in the foot.
Goodbye to all of my Apple services.
Napster 2.0 as well?

So you have a deep understanding of the costs involved in these services? Sounds like a speculation based opinion or judgement. It IS possible that in order to maintain the same profit as last year they needed to raise the prices that amount. We have NO idea what is going on behind the scenes and what cost increases Apple is having to adjust for. It is of course possible they just are trying to see just how high they can go until losing subscribers. I for one have just adjusted down on my services.
Remember you are the product being sold, not the content. They need you to keep coughing up cash and consuming said content in order to keep shareholders happy, who are the ultimate customer. There's no 'deep understanding' required. It's as simple as companies taking the pi$$ most of the time.

Since i will do my transition to Galaxy S24U in upcoming months, i am cancelling everything including my now favorite Apple Music, its sad but Youtube Premium is Offering Way better Services RN.
😳 A proper forward planer 🤣
