How To: Change a 2GB data plan to unlimited!

Does it still work if I have an activated iPhone 4 with micro-sim. Do I need to order an un-activated sim and activate it on the iPhone 2g.

Well that's crappy :(

I guess you take a gamble when you call CSS and they see your account is only a certain number of days old. Here's a question: Can they take away your 3G unlimited if you call for a different reason and they notice it?

is this working for anyone? I put the sim in the dumb phone, OLAM updates my phone model, but I couldn't find the $30 data plan for dumb phones. Do I have to call customer service?

yeah, I know. but someone mentioned that gadget88's method works without the iphone 2g. I don't have an iphone 2g on hand, so I give gadget's method a try.
 
Called AT&T while inside a Target store shopping...... gave them a IMEI number of a Nokia Go phone that was on the shelf....... a few hours later i get the text messages and my plan changed to iphone 3g unlimited! Thanks!!!!!
 
I did mine today using an IMEI from a very old NON-ATT samsung phone.
Whole thing took less then 2 Hr. Kudos to gadget.

For those thinking about trying...there is a separate thread with more step by step instructions that u dont have to go thru 14 pages of replies.
 
Hello everyone. I have been following this forum for more than a year however this is my first post:D

I have 2 iphone 4's and signed up for ATT to get them. (new customer)

On my iphone 4 I did this hack and now have unlimited Data + Text for $40.

However, my wife now has 200MB data for $15 and unlimited text for $25. (non hack)

So, i'm thinking i might as well get her the unlimited everything for $40. Correct me if you guys know about some type of iphone deal that I do not.

P.S. DO NOT CALL ATT to figure this out! The guy flipped on me that I somehow had unlimited on a 4 and being a new customer. He claims his system was showing I was using an older iphone and he would now "flag" my account to say that I was using a 4. I call BS but we shall see....:confused:
 
Let me break down what my options seem to be:

#1 The First Day I signed up for ATT ( June 24th )

$50 For 550 Minutes
$25 For 2GB (Mine)
$15 For 200MB (Hers)
$30 Unlmited Family Text

$120

#2 The Day I learned this hack

$50 For 550 Minutes
$40 For Unlimited Data + Text (Mine)
$15 For 200MB (Hers)
$30 For Unlmited Family Text

$135

As I mentioned above the ATT guy claimed that I was using an older iphone and that I could downgrade to $20 a month for unlimted data and 200 texts. After I hit 200, I would start using the Family unlimited text.

#3 What seems to be the correct option: (perform hack on both)

$50 For 550 Minutes
$40 Unlimited Data + Text
$40 Unlimited Data + Text

$130


Does anyone else figure this any other way than me?

I gave ATT my actual IP4 IMEI number... that was a week ago, and I still have the unlimited plan...should I call back and give them an old phone IMEI??

scroll down and click on USA
select ATT
click on download and then install.
That's it You will be online again.
This happens cause OLAM still does not know you have iphone 4 on a dumbphone plan.

any idea what the "WebClips" option is or does? i turned it off... will give tethering a try tonight... (i'm on the unlimited plan - thnx for the 'trick'!!!, so "lost" the tethering option i had with 2GB datapro... but tethering hasn't disappeared from my network settings panel)...

if doesn't work, I guess will need to wait for JB to tether again... (but tethering + 2GB data cap is simply not doable without massive overage... ****ing at&t)

don't do anything... you'll just draw attention to your account... if you have unlimited still, just let sleeping dogs lie...

I believe webclip is for support. i kept it off too. Tethering is not available through this option yet cause we will need JB for that..

well the tethering "switch" is still available on my Settings>Network panel, after installing the benm profile & rebooting... i haven't had the chance to try yet... another friend of mine, who didn't have tethering on his account, installed the benm profile and said the tethering switch dissappeared on him after the profile install and rebooting... so i wonder if maybe by having tethering before, it has stayed active... in any case, will try tonight when i get home on my laptop... if doesn't work, will just wait for JB...
 
The dumbphone method didn't work for me. My roommate has a 2g that I'm going to try this on. Just to make sure though, if I buy a new AT&T micro sim on ebay that'll work (my sim is already activated)? No restrictions on using micro sim cards that didn't originally come with the iphone 4?

You don't need a new sim. I used my activated iphone 4 sim and it activates the 2g in itunes.

I am still stuck on the 2g unlimited plan. it's been 12 hours no sms yet.
 
has anybodys been switched over to the $30 Unlimited on their att acount online? its been said that it will switch you over on the next bill cycle so did it do it for anybody? i see the option and it errors out when i try to switch it myself and it still shows the 2G Unlimited with the 200 text

I thought that with an activated sim it won't go through? From the first few pages of this thread there's a few people that mention problems with an activated one.
 
I don't know if it had anything to do with it, but I did the 2g iPhone method with the 4g activated sim and it did not go through.
