anyone get off the waitlist that was still indexing? I wonder if you don’t get off until the indexing is done…
No one is dying to get on the waiting list for those lackluster Siri AI features.
You don’t think they’re also going to be careful that people aren’t jailbreaking Siri and doing embarrassing things PR-wise or something and therefore created a deliberately slow rollout?
I’m presuming it’s all tied to the ‘New Siri’ so if you’re still on the waitlist then perhaps you don’t get to toggle preferences yet?

Yeah I assumed that was the case. Seems like AI is on by default since I can now use Genmoji lol. I avoided it until today but no choice for now.

People are reporting here that it's been taking between a half-hour to an hour, and in some cases longer. So far I've been waiting since about 5:20 pm my time, on an iPhone 17 Pro Max, so about 40 minutes so far.
I loaded the beta quickly on my
Phone but still am on the waitlist 5+ hours later… perhaps it’s best to join the waitlist on a Mac or iPad?

I doubt it. As someone who has worked on server software for a couple of decades, I’m pretty familiar with engineering thinking on server capacity and load balancing. They’ll have some servers set up for beta and a larger number preparing for release. They likely would want to roll things out to a certain number of users to start (a lot of people are being allowed in since they’re starting from zeroo) and will watch their server load to see if they can afford to allow more users to have access as more people install the beta. It’s a smart thing to do from an engineering point of view.
They’ll likely do that for release as well, letting people in as long as they have enough server capacity to support the waitlist. It’s a way to allow them to spin up servers as needed without wasting resources in case they incorrectly estimate demand. Too many users and cloud compute bogs down. Too few and they waste server capacity they didn’t need.
I just got the new Siri added. I haven't played with it much, but I gave it a couple of tests and it worked really well. I asked when a friend and I were going to see a football game and Siri searched through my messages and pieced together the correct date. I am going to have to play with it some more.
Apple released the first betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 today, introducing a more capable version of Siri called Siri AI. Developers are able to download the betas and try Siri out, but there is a waitlist.
After updating to iOS 27, developers will need to open the Settings app, go to the Apple Intelligence section, and opt in to the waitlist to get access to Siri.
There is no word yet on how long the wait will be, but Apple used a similar waitlist when rolling out Apple Intelligence in iOS 18. It could be a matter of hours for some of the first developers to update to iOS 27.
The new Siri and Apple Intelligence features that Apple introduced today are available on all devices that support Apple Intelligence, but some on-device capabilities will be limited to newer iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
Siri AI is free, but Apple does have daily limits on some capabilities like image generation. Opting into an iCloud+ subscription plan increases AI limits. Siri AI is limited to English, and it is not available in the European Union on the iPhone or the iPad, but EU users can try it on Mac. Siri AI is not available in China.

i usually jump in early mid august on the public beta stuff. i. thinking this is the year to wail till december and see how it goes. there is a lot going on that is under the hood here……transparent glass look is one thing, this is much, much bigger and will have big kinks to work out
Well now I’m getting FOMO 🙁 Getting close to 7 hours since I opted in. It does say my phone is still indexing though, too…

My indexing is still going on (8 hours almost) but I just got Siri access! No notification just appeared
Can you tell me what language you have picked for Siri - English (Canada) or English (US)?
I find it odd that my iPad is showing me that indexing is going on (always happens with a new major OS), but neither my Mac nor my iPhone show the same indexing message. It’s obvious they need to re-index everything, but it would have been nice if those OS’es told me when indexing is done.

I can’t personalize Siri though… it’s got the sliders greyed out - maybe I need indexing to finish lol + my iPhone keeps saying to setup talk to Siri but just goes to the Siri setting and nothing happens.
Thanks. I’ve got something weird going on. If I set my Siri language to Canadian English on my iPhone it shows I’m on the waitlist on the iPhone but not on my MacBook Pro (macOS 27). If I set the English to American, it shows I’m on the waitlist on both devices. But then my ChatGPT integration disappears.
I got off the list quickly and it’s been indexing all day and night. Phone is toasty.
