Streams fine for me. The only time I had a problem was before I did a complete restart.

After that it's been flawless.

That's good to hear. Have you watched a movie to completion? Mine streams beautifully for a while then kicks me back to a browser window.

Sorry if this has been asked,
Is there any additional fee to this or addiitional setup?

Or do I just log into netflix online :p?

Yes. Everything I've watched after I restarted has shown all the way through before it would sometimes kick me out of if I tried to turn the volume up or down it would kick me out, after a full restart streams just fine

If you use the Perfect Browser method it's $1.99 for the browser. If you do the free agent changer then there's no cost. I'm using Perfect Browser.

Get a free two week trial for netflix, after that it's about $10 a month. When my trial expires next week I'll sign up for it. I've been using it on my PS3 also, definite worth the money and dropping ShowTime/Movie channel from my cable.

The app doesnt do what netflix usually does which is let me continue where I left off previously when watching something on the iPhone. Like if I watch something on the pc or iPad then on my iPhone I can pick up where I left off watching. But if I watch a show on the iPhone I can't pick up where I left off on the iPhone itself when viewing later... (on the iPhone itself)

If what I just said made any sense let me know of anyone else is having the same issue.

I just started a movie and played it for about 2 minutes. Closed the app out. Went back into the browser, clicked play on the same movie and it picked up where I left off. Stopped it again, closed the app out. Started it back and it continues were I left off.

Which method are you using? The Perfect Browser or the Safari agent hack?
I'm using Perfect Browser. When I Press done to close the movie and the Safari browser comes up I press the little two screen button so that I can X out of the Netflix page that's going to load and say it's not compatible. Then I close Safari.

ETA: I went right back in to it so I don't know if that matters vs waiting a while then trying to resume.

I had this same problem when I was using perfect browser, so i followed the directions using user agent faker and I did not have the problem anymore, did you try this? If not the directions are on page 2 of this thread.

I've only used the Agent Faker method.Sometimes it will go for quite a while, others not so long. Not sure what the problem is (other than we are forcing the app onto a non-supported platform :))

that is not correct. My movies start from where I left off.

I've had that problem occasionally, especially on slower 3G connections. I think it's a buffering problem.

I think that's probably it too. I'm on a fast wifi network, but who I suppose Netflix could be getting hit pretty hard on certain movies at certain times. Still very cool mod when my iPad isn't with me :)

I know someone said they got this to work on a 3GS running 3.1.3...

Will this work on an iPhone 3GS running 4.0? I really want to try this, but I'm not sure if it will work or not.

I was only trying it with one particular show- and I am not having the same problem with
movies or any other show. It just gives me the option to watch the next show and it doesn't give me the option to choose the epsiode I left off on on the main instant stream homepage.

How-To: Netflix on iPhone using Safari and User Agent Faker

I thought I should update my tutorial to reflect recent changes to User Agent Faker. Here you go:

1) Open iTunes, download the Netflix app for iPad.
2) Drag and drop Netflix from iTunes onto the desktop.
3) Rename the file Netflix.ipa as Netflix.zip.
4) Extract the archive.
5) Locate the file /Netflix/Payload/Netflix.app
6) Upload Netflix.app to /var/stash/Applications on your iPhone.
7) Recursively change the permissions for Netflix.app. I used iFile. You can also SSH into your phone and use the following command:
Code:
login root [note: you will be asked for your root password]
chmod -R 755 /var/stash/Applications/Netflix.app
8) Open Cydia and install User Agent Faker [note: not UserAgent Faker; they are two different packages. If you have UserAgent Faker installed, uninstall before installing User Agent Faker]
9) Open Settings > User Agent Faker.
10) Toggle Enabled to "ON."
11) Tap "User Agent" and choose "Apple iPad." Tap "Back."
12) Tap "Applications" and toggle both Safari and Netflix to "ON."
13) Close settings, reboot.

That's it! Congratulations, you now have Netflix on your iPhone!

To play a movie:

1) Open MobileSafari.
2) Login to Netflix.com
3) Find a movie, and press "Play."

Here's what should happen:

1) A webpage saying "You're almost ready to watch [Movie Name]" will open.
2) After about a second, Safari will minimize.
3) Netflix will open and display the Netflix logo.
4) A progress notice will appear saying "preparing..."
5) Your movie will open in the Netflix app.

I agree. And unlike the tethering mod, there aren't even any ethical gray areas. This is a service you've thoroughly paid for and completely free software obtained by legal means. Pretty nifty.

Thanks for the updated instructions... I'm gonna install it on my wifes phone tonight...

FIXED: Not sure what I did, but after attempting the entire process a couple more times from scratch, it now seems to work.

I'm using an iPod Touch 8gig with iOS 3.1.2. I've followed all of the steps, yet when Netflix tries to launch when clicking to "Watch Now" on the NF website, the app just crashed back to the springboard.

I cannot find any info to tell me if I need a higher iOS version than 3.1.2 (which I'd rather not do right now) or if this works on my 8gig iPod in general.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This was so much fun I decided to do the mod on my 3Gs, which is now basically an iPod since I upgraded to the iPhone 4. Definitely appreciating the resolution difference between the retina display and the 3Gs!

Please call me a noob...but I am a learning one:eek:
Stuck on number 7:confused:
I have dropped as directed into the Application folder but I do not see where to change the code.
I am using WinSCP

The rest I should be ok with.

Thanks in Advance:)

1. In WinSCP, Right-click the Netflix.app folder and choose Properties from the context menu.
2. In the box labeled Octal, type 0755.
3. Check the box labeled "Set group, owner, and permissions recursively."
4. Click OK.

What I did was the following:

1) Open iTunes, download the Netflix app for iPad.
2) Drag and drop Netflix from iTunes onto the desktop.
3) Rename the file Netflix.ipa as Netflix.zip.

9) Open Settings > User Agent Faker and replace the string in the User Agent field with exactly the following (I emailed the string to myself and copy-pasted it):
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; U; CPU OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B367 Safari/531.21.10
10) Close settings, reboot.
11) Open MobileSafari, login to Netflix, find a movie, and press "Play."

This is what should happen when you press "Play":

1) A webpage saying "You're almost ready to watch [Movie Name]" will open.
2) After about a second, Safari will minimize.
3) Netflix will open and display the Netflix logo.
4) A progress notice will appear saying "preparing..."
5) Your movie will open in QuickTime.

I never receive the message perparing and the movie never opens.

Since we have modded the netflix application should it even launch and be usable?
