I’m preapproved for the 256GB one but I’m going to change to the 64GB when preorders start. Does anyone know how smooth this process is?

BTW, I think the short supply hype is a little insane right now. Are we positive that there are going to be gone in minutes?

Anyone know how it'll work for those on AT&T Next who don't want to upgrade? I plan on paying off my phone and selling it somewhere else instead of trading it in.

I just tried to add a iPhone 8 to my cart through the Apple Store app and it basically asked me to upgrade. If I select I don't want to upgrade this phone the only option it gives me is to buy the phone full price.

Maybe I am doing it wrong...

You need to pay it off at AT&T.com first. Then you’ll be Next Upgrade eligible.

I’m on the same page as you. I’m thinking we just click our preapproval banner. I’m just happy my choice is likely the least popular, 256GB Silver, so I might have a chance or two to get it right as quickly as possible.
What pre approval banner. The way I added the phone was as an Apple upgrade version but I don’t think it will work that way. I think I’ll have to go through prompts again when I click the phone in favorites.

This whole "Add to favorites" procedure only works if you are willing to pick a carrier. I want to buy a SIM-free model, and according to Apple support that option will not become available until the whole order madness starts...
Buy a Verizon one for full price.

Actually just favorited an att next and unlocked version. It saves the same under favorites.

The article is wrong it’s not just adding to cart. You still have to select provider and plan.

Don’t forget you can always pre order via the carrier websites too. Not just Apple.

iPhone X pre-orders begin this Friday, October 27 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on a first come, first served basis, and customers that want any chance of receiving the smartphone on launch day will need a combination of speed and luck.

The quickest way to pre-order the iPhone X is to use the Apple Store app on iPhone. Prospective buyers that want any chance of receiving the iPhone X when it launches Friday, November 3 should follow the steps below to be ready.

Note that these steps are for customers paying full price for the iPhone X upfront, and may not apply to those who owe money towards a previously carrier financed device.

This is pissing me off. All of my cards are coming up with the wrong billing address. When I go and remove the address (from everywhere, phone contacts, apple pay in settings, and updated apple store billing and shipping information) as soon as I try to use apple pay it adds the old address back on. Any ideas on how the hell to get rid of an old address???? Is it loading them from the credit card company automatically???? I mean I have already contacted them months ago to change my address and the CC company apps show my correct NEW address so where the crap is the old one coming from? It's an easy change but this will cause me time to switch when making the purchase grrrrrrr

I had this issue for over a year. Just today I was able to finally switch addresses using the latest iOS 11 OS. 've been to multiple apple stores and the geniuses were stumped. Are you on the latest software?

Keep in mind that you cannot use PayPal to checkout on Apple Store App. They told me via chat a few weeks ago that you could however that was false information. I just contacted them again today via chat to check and again they told me yes then I proved to them that PayPal is not a checkout option (you can confirm this by trying to checkout using an iphone8 for example). It is an option for checkout on the apple web site. I need to use Paypal for checkout as I'm using a PayPal line of credit. I suggest all of you planning to use PayPal to bark at apple via their feedback page and twitter.

The author forgot to mention that once the alarm goes off 15 minutes before the preorders start, one should run to the bathroom to make sure that the urge doesn’t come while in the middle of the ordering process.

And if one had to do #2, one should not forget to wipe while still being sleepy.
The beauty of the app is that one can sit on the bog while still ordering.

If you're on the upgrade program it's actually easier. You can go in and get pre-approved for which device you want now. Once it's time to order all you have to do is go back to the app, click a banner at the top (you'll see it once you get pre-approved), confirm your order and you're good to go.
excellent. thanks for confirming. I got pre-approved yesterday.

I'm planning on blowing $1000 in one go (don't judge me - I have been saving and have sold some other stuff to finance this..)

The app will currently let me add a T-Mobile one (which is my network) and I can choose the option to pay in one go. So surely, that's independent of carrier? I'm not doing an upgrade or anything like that - it's just that there are no unlocked versions available as of now for me to add into my favourites.

When I bought a 7 Plus last year, I went into the Apple Store in Los Angeles and the guy asked me what network. I told him T-Mobile and I'm sure he said that if you pay full price, they're all the same and unlocked. They just ship them with a carrier sim card inside for you.

I'm sure that's correct, isn't it? I'm not buying a T-Mobile locked version from Apple for $1000, am I?

I wonder if anyone has tried to write an app to do this.

Enter all the necessary information and go to sleep. The app places the order at 12:01AM and when you wake up you have an e-mail confirmation for your order.

I have T-Mobile service, but I want the Qualcom chip. The Verizon iPhones are unlocked, right?

Apple Pay doesn’t come up for me as an option, despite having Apple Pay set up on my phone. Rather annoying.

Even more annoying is that my shipping address keeps dropping out. I have to add it every day, even after I “save to account”.

Does anybody here know if it‘s gonna be possible to order 2 iphones? Or is there a limit?

Negative. The full price ‘unlocked’ ATT/T-Mobile models are not truly unlocked, they don’t equip the CDMA radios that the Verizon/Sprint models do. Verizon/Sprint models are true unlocked models for any carrier, however, you have to enter an accounts credentials in order to purchase one of them. So we’re screwed unless the SIM-Free model magically appears once the sale goes live.

Some advise...

I plan on buying two iPhone X 256GB phones (one in Space Grey for me and one in Silver for my wife). I will be paying in full via the Apple Store app and using Apple Pay. I already have both iPhone X configurations saved on both of our iPhone's in the Apple Store apps.

Question is...

Do you think its better to use just my iPhone's Apple Store app and "Add to Bag" my iPhone X and then go back and "Add to Bag" my wifes iPhone X, then proceed to checkout to purchase both iPhones.

---OR---

Do you think its better to use both of our iPhone Apple Store app's at the same time and add my iPhone X to my "Add to Bag" on my iPhone and add my wife's iPhone X to the "Add to Bag" on her iPhone (thus performing to different checkout's at the same time)?

I'm just trying to think of the best solution for a swift checkout and less likelyhood of running into probelms with the checkout process.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I'm curious: Can we order for in-store pickup, but not actually pick it up on the 3rd?

Yeah, I think this is a dead end. I don't think SIM free models will be an option.
