Don't. Make Apple replace your iPhone. It is not your fault if they constructed a phone that bends uner normal usage

This. Completely Apples fault for you wearing pants made for size zero girls and proceeding to place your iPhone made for larger hands and bodies in your skinny jeans . How dare you?

Basically, you're better of just not using your phone as intended. Best just put it in a glass box and leave it at home.

Practibility should be very high on the list during the design process. They have completely ignored it and chose to just make it look pretty. There just isn't any excuse for them to not have included some sort of internal frame/skeleton to increase strength.

Whether the issues is a concern or not, Apple will never respond to it. They learned from the mistake Jobs made by telling people they were holding it wrong and having to give away bumpers. If they deny the issue, media will bring up the pictures. If they respond to the accusations and tell people not to put it in their pants pockets they will look like fools. So their only action is to refrain from responding and quietly replace the bent phones when brought into their stores.

are people really expecting to be able to have this huge thing in your pocket while sitting down and not having it damaged in some way????

your legs go from flat to a 90 degree bend, top it up with a tight hard material (such jeans) and you have the perfect mix for bending of a thin metal/glass 7mm thick object

this so called problem with the iphone 6 and 6+ is purely user related...

Gotta love how some of these fanboys are already defending apple. I don't even have my phone yet (and I love apple products) but based on the videos and pictures I've seen it is at the very least a legitimate concern over a 2 year contract. No device, especially at such a premium price, should bend by merely being placed in a front pocket of slim fitting jeans.

Picked up a leather case the other day and already considering returning it for a slim fitting hard case. Any recommendations appreciated!

The mentality of some people in this thread is unbelievable.

Instead of criticising a questionable design choice and addressing an issue, you're criticising the users, telling them to change their clothing styles?

How ridiculous.

I wonder how the same people would react if Samsung released a phone that had these issues. I bet it wouldn't be the user's fault anymore.

I have a galaxy note 3 which sits in my front pocket most of the trip to and from work which is a good 2-2.5 hours a day, and its done that for the past 7 months.

Never had any issue with it bending.

Its the curved phone you guys have been asking all along. I am sure samsung is watching this closely. Watch out for the note curve

I have it in my front right pocket, so I walk with a limp with my leg straight.

You really think they are bending by just slipping it in your front pocket?

oh let me put my phone in my pocket.....damn it bent by some weird miracle....

Plastic doesn't bend

The most it does is it cracks.

Using a case (slim or thick) should be able to prevent any and all of this bending.

Doubtful. Most cases are made of soft and flexible enough materials (plastic, rubber, leather, ...) which will gladly bend along with the aluminum ... and come back to their original shape whereas the aluminum remains bent.

Only a hard material case which is strongly attached to each extremity of the phone would help ... but that materiel would likely have to be some kind of metal and prevent the antennas from working as designed.

how many cases of bending have we had in reality...

3, 4, 5....not counting with people wanting attention and clicks on their YouTube channels and tech websites....

How many millions of phones delivered on the 19th??

This is a non-issue.

Their is no design fault it's the user not taking care. Surely you would relies the iPhone 6 is thin so I'll need to take care of it.

Serious question - will Apple replace bent phones under warranty?

Until now I have seen only one report where the guy brought it back to Apple ... and he was told he would have to pay for a replacement.

For now I think the policy for the Genius Bar is not to replace them, but if you're lucky they could take pity and do it for you.

No reason for this to change in the short term but if this really hits mainstream media and keeps being in the news for several day, in order to calm things down Apple might decide to instruct its staff to quietly replace them as a gesture of "goodwill" and without ever saying it is a design issue.

You apologists are unbelievable.

"How dare you expect to able to SIT DOWN with a phone that everyone keeps and has kept in their pockets for YEARS"

I have had big phones in my pocket. No phone does this that I have seen. Save for this one.

If you're going to tell me that it doesn't concern you to see pictures of bent phones at this point then I don't know what to say.

If you're putting all your strength into bending it.. then yeah that's a ridiculous test. On the other hand, if you're just wearing skinny jeans, worrying about someone sitting on your lap, or even laying your bag down the wrong way, then I think this is a potential design flaw showcasing weakness in strength.

Safe to assume: Pro's= thinner and lighter; Cons= Less strength+more surface area

I haven't had any issues with any of my previous iPhones or samsung devices and the fact that this has received so much chatter makes me wonder. But like I said..I don't have my 6+ yet, it's on preorder. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst

Have you actually bent your iPhone 6 or 6+ by sitting down with it in your pocket?

I don't have an iphone 6 or 6+ nor have I claimed that this bending thing was widespread, I'm just replying to your claim that people shouldn't be able to sit down with their phones in their pockets.

Will concern me when I start seeing thousands upon thousands of people complaint about this and Apple coming out saying there's a design flaw and they forgot to do stress tests in these phones.

Until then no concern at all....

So if you don't have an iPhone 6 or 6+ or/and have actually not bent any of them.

What exactly are you doing here?
