are you kidding? i put all of it into savings. Thhings asre too unstable just now
Yup. We have half decent savings between null and the six months they say you should, and now the $2400, but who's to say if they could even close essential business and dry up the bonus unemployment. As long as the bonus UC starts and keeps flowing for my wife and I keep working, we will just keep weaving more into out safety net until things seem more stable again.

Dumb IRS! I used the so-called tool to track the status of my payment. After entering my personal information, it said that I was eligible for the payment, but that they did not have direct deposit information! What a bunch of crap! As I mentioned above, BOTH the IRS and the SSA have my direct deposit information. And I did file our 2018 return, and recently our 2019 return. Most of that return contains the income from our Social Security, and the IRS said they'd be able to use that. Also, back in mid March, I filed a 2020 Estimated return, in which I directed the IRS to take $1 from our account. I of course needed to provide them with the Routing Number (for Wells Fargo, in our case), along with the account number, and they did generate the $1 debit to the account.

So, I don't know WTF is going on!

Received my direct deposit this morning too. I will keep the majority in my savings and use the rest to catch up on a few bills:cool:

I haven't received it yet and I keep getting "Status Unavailable" on the gov website so I have no idea if I'm getting one :).

If I get one, I'll use it to offset my 2019 NH taxes that I just paid :(.

Me neither. Here are the messages I get:

"You are eligible for this payment. We do not have enough information to direct deposit your payment at this time."

(As I have mentioned before, that's a crock!).

After entering my direct deposit information, I get this:

"We apologize for the inconvenience but this service is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

Definitely not a smooth process!

banks have several routing #'s use the one at the bottom of your check
and
verify the routing# on checks you used over the years 2017 2018 2019 2020 has not changed

There are apparently people carrying negative balances in the account they had registered with the IRS for direct deposit and are COMPLAINING that the deposit was used to pay down the negative balance instead of somehow giving them a positive balance to spend on stuff. How would that even work?

They're probably the same people that wanted to buy a 65" TV with the money while also getting free meals from the kid's school and barely able to put food on the table for other meals.

I know that, and I did use the routing number for Wells Fargo that is on one of my checks. And that SAME account, at Wells Fargo, has not changed at all.
call WellsFargo to verify that routing# & acc#

for those fortunate to get the money GOOD NEWS: IT IS NOT TAXABLE

I do not have to do that! Both of our Social Security checks come to that exact account, with that exact R/T number and account number. Also, last month I filed an Estimated Taxes for 2020, and "told" the IRS to take $1 from our account. Part of that process involved giving them the R/T number for Wells Fargo, and the Account Number. Sure enough, within 2 days after that filing, a $1 debit to our checking account appeared, and it was the IRS.

Glad to see a lot of sensible savers in here!

The first portion of mine went to one of those new Magic Keyboards with Trackpad for the iPad Pro...... The rest went into my savings account which is currently being gradually loaded up for an engagement ring.

Same here - same message I keep getting.

Suppose it will take the government programmers to fix these glitches by the end of the year ???

nah.....it'll only take enough time so that your check is scheduled and it's too late to make any changes :D

(i'm also getting that "status unavailable" message)

Ah, this is what I was asking about.
Can't wait to have it go live!

Thanks!

Well, I got "just about" encouraging news regarding the stimulus checks for both my wife and I. When I went onto the IRS site earlier this morning to check on the status for both my wife and I (separately), it said:

"We scheduled your check to be mailed on April 24, 2020 to the address we have on file for you.
We will mail you a letter with additional information on this payment.
If you need additional help or do not receive your payment, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page."

OK, that's good. But the "mailed" part is strange. The IRS (and SSA) have our direct deposit information from a gazillion sources, including very, very recent ones. So, I hope they mean direct deposit.

Mine is still saying “Payment Status Not Available”. 😬 I need to add my bank info because I haven’t filed this year and last year thanks to the tax cut, I had to pay.😡

Did you generate the payment from your bank account? If you did, the IRS "should" be able to use it to send you your money. If not, then as you said, you'll need to add your bank information (Routing & Transit Number, and Account Number).

So they will go hungry.
At least they can watch the Cooking Channel in 65" Ultra HD!
