Wouldn't touch Huawei, especially since they've been linked to spying for the Chinese government. Several of their products are banned from sale in the US due to "espionage charges", their consumer products (mainly phones) are still allowed to be sold. The last thing you need is both Huawei and Google's Android sucking up all your information and giving it to all and sundry.

Do you seriously want me to do that? I see you have 'attempted' to catch me out by stating 'smartphone'. Did you know Apple also invented humans. Amazing really... And an Android martyr, oh how you have totally failed sir. You Apple apologist you.

Yes I seriously want you to find a flagship smartphone that used a Gold case before the 5s.

Again Android is free to choose the exact same colors as the iPhone. But it just makes them look like the sterotype: copycaters.

Its like if you buy a black BMW 328. And then a month later your friend buys the EXACT SAME CAR. Exact same colors, interior, and options. Your friend is free to copy you. But it just makes him look tacky. Same with Huawei choosing the exact same colors as iPhone. LOL. So pathetic.

Not sure which is the more meaningless complaint...the camera bump, or bezels.

bezels are important. Smaller bezels means a more pocketable phone.

A 4.7 iPhone with smaller bezels could also be a 1 handed device.

WOW, looks like they pretty much stole Apple's colour pallet.

Article is about dual lens smartphone cameras, with the Leica name, that is allowing for some really impressive shallow depth of field. 1.1 aperture is quoted...on a smartphone....

The first response is about the phone's color.
The sad state of Apple and Apple fans in 2016.

OK, so this has 3 cameras. Amazon Fire Phone has 5 cameras and 3 microphones.

You may be right but, honestly, the average user could care less about bezels. Same for the camera bump. These are complaints that are in heavy rotation in comment threads on tech blogs, and not many other places.

.

Actually is f:2.2 , the article got it wrong. What's interesting is that the dual lenses is to feed two different sensors: one is RGB and the other is Monocrome. Not really sure what for, maybe better low light sensitivity. I'm also very curious of this laser focusing system and how it would work. In the features of the phone no "laser" is indicated. I am also doubtful about the post-focusing feature. But of course, Huawei has everything covered as you can read in the website:

"Disclaimer: specifications may change without notice, images are for illustration purpose only. Colour may vary, colours and features may not be available in all market"

What's impressive is that they got Leica to put their brand next to Huawei. I don't think it is a good move by Leica. We need to wait and see the results of this technology partnership when the first pictures come out.

Tinfoil hat alert.

Yet I do hear some people complain that their phone is too big to fit in their pocket. Small bezels would help

Exactly. Very few people want to drop in their own engine after buying a new car. Just as very few would want to replace their entire OS.
OK Cool. So you agree with my original post that it is a good looking phone with good quality parts although it is saddled with Android. The snark if your reply buried your message. My apologizes.

Man, Android must of REALLY done a number on you at some stage in your life..... I'm going to guess the 2000 in your username is your birth year.

  • Hardware competition arguably caught up with Apple
  • that means the biggest differentiating factor in the near future will be iOS
  • Which means Apple will have to redouble their efforts to make their platform that much more attractive.
This should make all loyal Apple users happy...competition is good.

Hardware competition caught up?
Hardware competition hasn't been an issue in years.
It's all about packaging and industrial design.
Pick the price point and decide what components go in.

All but a few use some varian of 64Bit Arm multicore (some use Intel).
The cameras are made by Sony or someone else.
Broadcom makes the LTE filter chips.
Somebody else makes the Wifi/Bluetooth/GPS module.
Etc. Etc.

If I describe the internals of just about any flagship smartphone in technical terms you can't tell the different.
Yeah apple has the A-series of processors, but it's a multi-core ARM processor.

Yawn.

Wow, I never realised Apple was the first ever to make different coloured mobile phones!

It's ridiculous how some people on here seem to think nothing existed in the mobile world tech space before Apple arrived... Yeah, Apple invented those colours, they have patented them and will no doubt be taking Huawei to court next week.

Yeah, that's what he was saying, not "gee their color pallet looks very similar to the profit leader in the market."

The big story here is the F/1.1 lens. That means the lens is 8x bigger than the iPhone's, which allows 8x more light in dark scenes, or 8x faster shutter speed for reduced motion blur. Also, it should result in sharper pictures because of the smaller diffraction-limited Airy disk on the sensor.

Phone cameras really need these larger lenses because you can still tell when an image is taken with a phone camera.

Edit:

Actually I'm not sure if it really is a bigger F/1.1 lens, or some "equivalent" F/1.1 lens based on dual-cameras.

Wow Huawei P9 with polished chamfered edge look gorgeous, makes the iPhone SE look like a Chinese knock out! but hey.. atleast Tim will get more profit;)

Apple should just release a plastic flagship phone if they are so concerned about users scratching their phone, after all..the iPhone 3GS material looks more premium than that ugly aluminum used in the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch sport

We had gold 'phones' for years, Apple just copied them, as for white and black please don't even go there as you'll look ridiculous attempting to claim any other black or white phone is copying Apple as they've been around even longer.

As for Rose Gold:

Yeah Apple were never first with that colour either.
