Let's not forget that Huawei sells TONS of models. I count 34 different models here:
Let's also not forget that Huawei phones have an average selling price around $200. And considering they have a few premium models above $600... imagine how many units they must sell that are
below $200 to get that average.
In short... it's no surprise that Huawei can move a lot of units. Cheap phones tend to sell in crazy volumes. They always have. Look at the Android market in general.
But if you look at the chart in this article... there were actually
fewer smartphones sold last quarter than a year ago. Apple actually went up a little bit... but Samsung and others went down by a lot more.
So Huawei's increase in smartphones took sales away from Samsung and others. That's where the battle is.
I don't know why everyone is so freaked out that Apple has dropped to the #3 spot on the chart. In truth... the position doesn't matter. Apple is still the only company selling iOS phones... a platform that is huge in its own right.
