Ok name your price?

Skylake 2.6
512 SSD
16GB RAM
Radeon 450

What price would be ideal for you guys to say, "OK thats a fair price"

Not sure if serious... I was looking at that Photoshop presentation, and kept thinking: people who use Photoshop regularly are already familiar with all kinds of keyboard shortcuts, so this isn't new, and has a good chance of not being used. And what about apps which are used for typing? Are you really gonna constantly lift your hands off the main key position every time you need to press some shortcut on the touchbar? A mouse is much easier to use, and is more precise than scrolling across a tiny touch screen. Try scrolling through a video on an iPad vs a computer with a mouse, and you'll quickly realize that a mouse can get to the exact second you need it to 10/10 times, while you're lucky to get there with an iPad 1/10 times.

Apple needs to stop dicking around, and implement touch screens into their computers, and combine that with the pencil for a touch sensitive combination. That would make these systems truly "pro".

I was expecting to see a 13" 256 SSD 8GB RAM for $1499. I'm not gonna **** on anyone for buying one, I like what they did in terms of the touch bar, but I can't help but think the Macbook and Macbook Air are under-powered and over- priced which seems to have driven the Macbook Pro prices up accordingly

I feel like I didn't watch the same presentation as some of the folks on this thread. Go watch microsoft's unveiling of the surface studio from yesterday. It was very impressive and makes today's event disappointing by comparison.

Also...still 16GB max RAM? WTF?

I can't really tell if you are being ironic or not. I hope you are. (I'm referring to OP)

First of all I would never use a mouse unless I'm gaming. A track pad is way superior with multitouch imo.

Second of all, you shouldn't have to "memorize" shortcuts. Its more intutive. What about the people who never learned shortcuts. They might never have used shortcuts but now they have this asset.

None of this is necessary of course. But it is useful. As a bonus to what a MBP already is. Even if you only consider it icing on the cake, its still super cool and innovative. To consider it gimmicky is misguided I think. Its obvious to me it will be insanely awesome to put in practice. I dont say that often.

I have always been a fan of adaptive touch from the beginning and though it will be the future. This is yet another form of it.

The principal reason I'm so impressed with the new macbook pro is because I now have to buy a $25 dongle cable accessory to connect my iphone to it. Innovation baby

You guys are funny. My late 2013 mid range MBP is fantastic. Apple's MBP has been a great
machine for some time and this version is yet another nice upgrade if you want one.
It doesn't cook breakfast, so I guess it sucks for some of us ;)

Touch bar seems cool and probably convenient - but not at that price. Absolutely not at that price.

Apple's greed is showing worse than ever and it's not attractive. I've always paid the "Apple Tax" because quite simply, it's worth it. It may be time to move on.

Touchbar is the height of innovation I guess (and it's not cheap either).

Yeah I agree.

People forgot that underneath that touch bar theres a fully loaded 2016 MBP too.
[doublepost=1477617046][/doublepost]
They removed all USB ports, removed SD card support and designed a more horrible chicklet style keyboard with barely any depth, while increasing the price heavily...how is this an upgrade again?

-screen
-sound
-trackpad
-touchbar/keyboard
-unibody

Literally every component that makes up the personal computer has been significantly improved.

b..b..but it.. it.. its still not 1k cheaper!

For the first time in a long time Apple impressed me.

I almost shed a tear the new release is that good.

Now I have to come up with three thousand dollars.

Everything about everything from the way they presented it, the historical resonance, and the product they delivered exceeded expectations.

-I wasn't expecting such a drastic improvement in brightness and contrast.
-They used the same sound technology from the iPad Pro 13 which is excellent
-best hugest trackpad on earth, such a welcome improvement on what was already the best trackpad tech
-the bar is a productivity dream and a huge breakthrough I can tell I dont even have to use it. Makes the concept of touch screens like what microsoft is doing a misguided path when this option was right there at our fingertips.

Between the track pad and the bar the MBP all of sudden becomes as relevant as the iPad for productivity.

Imagine logic pro with the new MBP and an iPad with Logic remote on it.

Ridiculously fun and interactive and efficiently productive.
Nice to see some positive comments finally! Thank you

I will have to use it in person to be convince but I'm not sure the Touch bar is really that useful. I'm not against it but if feel that it looks like a distraction. Without any physical cues, you will have to drive your eyes away from the screen to see where you what you do with your fingers.

I prefer the Surface's approch with their dial controller. It's a physical interface that you can relocate but you can feel it. You don't have to move your eyes away from the screen. I think a touch screen is quicker to interact with and less of a distraction.

Bigger trackpad is a nice plus, it's a shame you can't use the pen with their display. I don't see any convergence in the product line.

I stopped reading at the bolded part.

I know how people see this as a gimmick but I can tell it's gonna be special.

Wait till you try one in person. I honestly think it's not a gimmick.

It's a shame it's not cheaper and that they didn't perhaps throw in one dongle for you. Just to take the edge off of the expense of transitioning to using this machine.

It will have so much stuff hanging off it that it may as well be a desktop.

I'm so sad rn.[/QUOTE]

On that tiny little 15 inch screen? I'll pass...

I'm not against innovation and I do want to try it. But I still think there is a lack of convergence through their product line.

- You buy lightning headphones for your phone but can't connect them directly to the laptop.
- You have a pen for the iPad Pro, but can't use it on your MacBook Pro
- They release a touch bar on MBP but no external keyboard are released at the same time for the other computers in their line up.
- no apple pay either on non-rMBP computers
- Remove headphone jack on iPhone but keep it on the laptop
- still need an adapter to use the cable that came with your phone

They should go in one direction and apply it to all the entire product line. It should be Apple pencil and touch bar for everything. You should not have to wait an eternity to have feature parity.

its depressing to see that Apple products are actually going downhill after steve passed. they are becoming one of those companies whose products are designed to suck the most money out of their customers. a macbook pro w/ 4 thunderbolt ports??? seriously? am i gonna charge my macbook with 4 ports? and then comes out with an adapter priced at 50$, without it u wont be able to plug in usb, hdmi and such. The new keyboard is a big turn down and without the magsafe charger and glowing apple logo is it even a macbook anymore? As a heavy keyboard user typing on the new keyboard is such a pain in the ass and without a lightening port how am i gonna plug in my iPhone 7 lightening earpods???? Also, the price had left me speechless. UGHHHH I am deeply disappointed and totally lost faith on Apple I am not sure if i want to stay anymore
Buying the iPhone 7 wasnt a good idea but buying the $1799 macbook pro is definitely a bad idea.
