I am simply blown away by the new Siri

Hopefully this improves on current Siri. She was kind of a bitch to me during a recent roadtrip:

Me: “Hey Siri. Do Original flavor Slim Jims contain gluten?”

Siri: “Do you want me to ask ChatGPT?”

Me: “No.”

Siri: “Ok, then I won’t.”

And that was the end of it, she was done with me. No Internet search. Nothing. Haha!

P.S. Turns out Slim Jims do contain gluten in the form of malt barley.

I’m not sure why some people are having issues, but it pretty much works for me every time. Except for the rare “try again.”
Not once did I have Siri prompt for ChatGPT access. And I’ve been using Siri a lot.

Do you have ChatGPT app installed? I have Apple Intelligence configured with my ChatGPT account in Settings so I wasn’t surprised Siri asked if I wanted to use ChatGPT. I was more taken aback by the finality of her “Ok, then I won’t” response lol. I asked during a roadtrip and was at a gas station in rural Wyoming. But I had 5G connectivity so I thought she would just search the Internet.

I haven’t connected ChatGPT to Siri AI since it’s much more capable now unlike the last iteration.

It looks like you’re on iOS 26 which is why you have the old dumb version.

Siri still sucks. I will text a Christy and it ask is it Christy or Chris. I’ll be there between 5 and 6 and Siri responds “is it 5 or 6”

I have done some more testing of Siri AI and so far my results have been a bit of a hit and miss variety. For example, I wanted to test the personalised aspect of it and asked Siri AI when my next flight was, which I have coming in three days on Monday, with several @icloud.com emails reminding me about it and offering upgrades in my Apple Mail Inbox. Having searched my calendars, messages and emails, Siri AI found a flight from August 2025, yet could not find a flight in the next few days. Teething problems, I hope, as it should have been an easy one, so will continue with some more tests…

I also had an impressive use of Siri. I asked about an upcoming event and it found details in my mail, then added everything including the address and time. It correctly made two events for day 1 and 2 of the event. I then asked it to make a reminder for me of tasks I needed to complete before the event, which it also did. Finally, I realized it was adding the events to my default calendar, so I asked it to switch to my work calendar. This didn’t work at first but once I specified which email was associated with my work calendar, it removed the old event and moved it to the work calendar.

It was so cool to do all of this in bed on my iPhone just in the Siri app. Saved a ton of time!
